The Creative Side Hustle: Five steps to launch your creative career (while keeping your day job) Kindle Edition
It’s never been easier to start your creative side hustle, even if the Indian education system has tried to beat that secret ambition out of you for over 15 years.
In fact, after writing a successful blog for over 11 years, publishing my first book, and rubbing shoulders (and making friends) with celebrities and self-made millionaires…I’ve discovered there’s 5 main steps to launching any creative side hustle, without wasting years like a hermit not being recognised for your work and talent.
If you have the calling to be a writer, an artist, a guitarist, or anything else creative…I’m going to share how it’s completely possible to start and maintain a successful creative side hustle, while still keeping the safety of your day job.
This guide is designed to be short and actionable. You can read it within one sitting, and start building your creative side-hustle that same night.
Here are a few of the tips you’ll learn from each step:Step 1:
- The #1 worst belief crushing more creative passions than anything else combined.
- How to start promoting your work online to build a rabid audience for your creative work.
Step 2:
- The sneaky “speech trick” that boosts your energy, crushes feelings of fear and embarrassment, and builds your side hustle with utter confidence.
- Should you tell your employers about your creative side hustle? Answers inside.
Step 3:
- The fastest way to launch your creative career without losing financial support for yourself and family.
- Think you’re too busy to succeed? Ashwin Sanghi wrote 3 best-selling books while managing a multi-crore business. I reveal his work routine to manage his time.
Step 4:
- The 2 main people you must master to achieve your goals. Get this right and you can flip the bird to sticking to a conventional career… get this wrong and your hustle is dead.
- The biggest soul-sucking philosophy in India, rampant in most offices and schools. A short story reveals the weird American system that destroys this philosophy, giving you back control over your life and creative side hustle.
Step 5:
- If you achieved good grades in school in India I guarantee you have this 1 flaw. If you don’t break free from the chains of this flaw you’ll never have a successful creative side hustle!
- The best form of motivation to keep hitting your big goals (not YouTube clips, emails, or courses).
- The LinkedIn trick to succeeding with your creative side hustle.
- How to write 3x faster with the help of your left hand.
- The 4 best books for making gobs of money from your creative side hustle.
“An amazing book and simplified for the reader. The steps are simple, and one can find their creative career just by being committed to these steps.”

5.0 out of 5 stars A dictionary of discovery of the 'other side' of oneself!
This book is a refreshing guide to those who have the wish to indulge in creativity but are lost in the mundane , yet inescapable world of building their careers. It is clear that Kriti is an incorrigible optimist, and through his refresingly fragrant writing style, has succeded in sharing his optimism with his readers. This book should not only appeal to the stressed out professionals to enjoy life through the prism of hobbies but also to senior citizens like me in search of a creative 'second innings', to fulfil those wishes which were lost to us during the struggles of working lives. Indeed, the book is a treatise espousing self-belief, leading to unearthing of the creative talent which invariably lies dormant within each one of us!
The anecdotes and illustrations add relavence to the message that the author seeks to convey.
I look forward to many more books from Kriti Sen Sharma.

4.0 out of 5 stars When Dummies guide met buzzfeed - but in a good way.
It's a fairly good book. The cover page is a minimalist's dream. To whoever illustrated it, take a bow. And I don't just mean it to keeping it simple - that's also to the intelligent pun staring right in your face.
The contents page doesn't really make go whoa. The language seems like an amalgamation of a spiritual/financial self help book and an old person trying to fit in with the cooler kids ( Think Amy Poehler's I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom).
As much as I respect the writer (I know we've never met), the introduction page kills whatever enthusiasm the cover page set forth in me. The second page has the same tone that VCRs and DVDs from the 90s, that would claim to make you the next "it" thing, had. And by the last para, I'm mentally painting Superman & Batman.. or maybe Hannah Montana?
What starts off like every other run of the mill self help book, I like how it slowly branches out. Acknowledging, accepting & celebrating mediocrity is something that the author propounds & I must concur. Love how the second chapter is aptly named. The book is a 101 Intro to all things you want to do, to step up your virtual game. You could be a novice, someone doing all the things right yet just not acing. This book nearly covers all the tricks of trade you just need. It doesn't claim to be anything apart from what the title suggests and this compact book just delivers that. The tone of the book swings between an over enthusiastic cheerleader cum wingman and a determined guru set on course to help his disciple. While the language & tone could've been a tad bit more formal, for the age group of targeted audience, I guess it's just about fine.
Not over preachy, not out of reach, give this book a try if you want to give your muzzled creative dreams, an outlet to shine!
Factual error in the book - Jeff goldbum isn't a pilot in the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and great read.
“It’s like developing a muscle.” This book gave me a perfect step by step way of thinking through all the hurdles of becoming an entrepreneur. The author has given examples from personal experience and also covered aspects others could face in different kinds of situations. This book is suitable for people who want to start researching on how to go about the whole process of becoming your own boss. Short read, I would probably go about googling every step of the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great, quick read.
This book could not have come at a better time! Stuck at home, staring blankly at my laptop and feeling demotivated are everyday things for me now. I am someone who has been afraid to put myself out there and work. This book really makes me want to try! Reading this book will give anyone like me a push and convincing them to start working on their dreams. The writing is simple and conversational, which makes it so easy to understand. The authors gives the readers many great examples and everything said is very, very relatable. It is also super short and can be finished in a single sitting. From inspiration to start working, and all the way till selling your work, the author gives a nice detailed journey of every step while not sounding preachy at all!
I have always had my prejudices about self-help books, but the ones like these should be and must be read for anyone struggling with their creative sides.

5.0 out of 5 stars a perfect hustle to prepare yourself for the leap
The book kept me glued to my desk till i finished it from cover-to-cover. Could related to some of the thoughts and found the reason behind those well articulated. And some thoughts were new and gave a different perspective. The first reading was quick as it was tempting to always read what lies next but this book warrants a second slow reading interspersed with introspection, execution of the tasks listed and enjoying the whole cycle of seeing your side hustle redefining your existence !!
