Bussell (the Best Women’s Erotica series, ed.) presents 18 delightfully enthusiastic erotic shorts centered on multipartner encounters that exude a dual sense of sexual adventure and careful, loving exploration. Several, like Nikki Ali’s “Forget About Me” and Anuja Varghese and C.E. McLean’s “The Possibilities of Paradise,” explore first-time group encounters between established friends and lovers. Most of Bussell’s choices wisely lean away from gimmicky hooks, but Sienna Crane’s goofy exception, “Dishing It Out,” set on a reality-TV cooking show, delights. While C.C. Bridges’s playful “How to Seduce a Mermaid” and Lin Devon’s extraterrestrial “Call Across the Stars” offer some truly fantastical fantasies, the best stories here, like Katrina Jackson’s lesbian submission story “PTO,” keep the focus on simple, hot human connection. Jerica Taylor’s “Movie Night,” a friendly all-male sexual escapade narrated by a trans man protagonist, is hot and heartfelt without being fetishizing, while Michelle Cristiani’s graceful “Able Bodies” takes on redefining norms of sensuality in the context of disability. Gentle BDSM dynamics appear in Lilith Young’s spanking-focused “Tell Them Thank You” and Misty Stewart’s pleasingly objectifying “Snip, Snip.” These exuberant, upbeat fantasies of an abundance of easy touch are sure to satisfy.
