4.5 out of 5 stars 53 ratings

He wants her gone, but their bond runs deeper than fate.

After a brutal battle with Baron, Morrigan craves peace and the warmth of her mates—but blood still stains the halls of King House. Just when she thinks she can breathe again, Ruvyk Loshiho Dhaelnyr arrives with a chilling reminder: it’s time to settle her debt. She must find the Light Fae Prime.

Morrigan’s power has grown beyond anything she imagined, but to face Illithor Theoden Elidyr, the Light Fae Prime, she must embrace her true self—and surrender the last fragments of her humanity. But the Dark Fae male she’s bound to has other plans. He’ll stop at nothing to remove Morrigan from his path, even if it means her death.

As sinister forces close in, Morrigan learns the terrifying truth about the Fae who’s been injecting her, yet she's powerless to stop them. If she defies them, her mates will suffer.

Torn between duty and desire, Morrigan must walk the razor’s edge of her destiny. To restore balance to the Fae, she must first find it within herself—before the darkness consumes her.

Loved it ready for the next one! The story is amazing but soooo much detail of the school and other things.. I sometimes find myself skimming over all of that as it has no relevance to the main story.

This is a review for books one through five.

I have spent the last several days reading what is available in this series and have really enjoyed it. Below is a list of my likes and minor dislikes.

    What I Liked:
*Morrigan Starr, the main character. I have very much enjoyed experiencing her character growth. Though there have been a couple of times when her decisions have been nonsensical or questionionable she's never bored me or frustrated me to the point where I no longer rooted for her.
*The plot(s). I have enjoyed the action and how convoluted the machinations of the antagonists kept me wanting to know what would happen next.
*The setting, magic and tone. I really liked all three of these elements.

    What I Didn't Like:
*The pacing. I love long books but with these first five it felt like there was too much repetition which bogged down the story. For example, almost every time Morrigan fed the heirs it was described in almost the same way. This was true of many of the day to day activities.
*Many of the harem felt indistinct. I love a large harem but in this story it felt like too many. Morrigan has 10 true mates but Max seems to get the most page time. At this point, I am feeling a bit sorry for most of the vampire mates because Morrigan doesn't have enough time to give each of them quality time and most are staying in the same place. How bad will it be when they are all kings in their own territories?

Overall, this is a fun series and I am very much looking forward to subsequent installments.

I love reading about Morrigan and her men and all of her many adventures. You won't want to leave at the end of the book if you are anything like me, I'm always wishing it was just a bit longer. I've read this series again and again you won't want to miss it, just start with book one or you'll be lost.

I'll anxiously be waiting for book six, I can't wait!

This series was one of the first reverse harems I ever read, and I was instantly hooked. Now, every time a new one comes out I reread the entire series from the beginning so I can remember everything. Considering how detailed the plot is, and how many characters there are, it's definitely a necessity.

The series is still going strong, and I definitely still consider it one of my favorites. The author has a serious talent for story ideas, and world building.

That being said, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous books. I just feel like a lot of the male characters are being left behind, some even still not having enough depth to really separate them. There are times when some of them are just completely gone for super long periods of time. (Harvey and Nievan specifically). Meanwhile Max seems to get all of Morrigan's attention while Blade is literally making himself sick with his obsession of the book that tells Morrigan's future.

I still love the series and I am looking forward to continuing to read them. I just hope that we see more time with each of the guys instead of just getting the repetitive feeding scenes that are written almost the same every time.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I had concerns with the previous book that, frankly, the FMC seemed to have lost some of her determination, independence, and seemed to have lost her strength without her love interests. Now, needing support is fine, but it seemed like such a drastic personality change. However, this book pulled me back in. Throughout each of the (many) challenges, she seems to regain her confidence, while still drawing support from her love interests. Their character and relationship progression was written very well.

The ending was amazing and I would absolutely recommend continuing the series. With Morrigan's confidence and character progression, she's achieved a lot and so many plotlines have created a complex, riveting story.
