Lucky Number Seven: An Explosive British Crime Thriller (DCI Kett Crime Thrillers Book 13) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 6,379 ratings

Sometimes You Win. Sometimes You Die.

When seven packages are delivered to the staff of an insurance company in Norwich, the unthinkable happens: one of the packages explodes.

Six people survive, the seventh does not.

As the fire rages and the city reels, DCI Kett and the Extreme Crime Task Force are brought in to try to figure out why anybody would murder an innocent woman in such a violent manner.

But the killer has only just started. Seven more people are targeted, seemingly at random, and it soon becomes clear that somebody is playing a deadly game of chance—if you lose, you lose everything.

The hunt is on for one of the most sadistic criminals the team has ever faced.

Sometimes you beat the odds. Sometimes you don’t.

And Kett knows that sooner or later, everybody’s luck runs out…

Lucky Number Seven is the thirteenth book in the million-selling DCI Robert Kett series. Relentless action, compulsive mystery and dark humour abound in the series that Thrilling Fiction calls "Heart-stoppingly gripping!" from the author that James Patterson describes as "fresh and ferocious!"

Alex Smith wrote his first book when he was six. It wasn’t particularly good, but it did have some supernatural monsters in it. His latest books, the DCI Robert Kett thrillers, have monsters in it too, although these monsters are very human, and all the more terrifying for it. In between these two books he has published fourteen other novels for children and teenagers under his full name, Alexander Gordon Smith—including the number one bestselling series Escape From Furnace, which is loved by millions of readers worldwide and which is soon to become a motion picture. He lives in Norwich with his wife and three young daughters.

Hi there, and welcome to my Amazon author page! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my books. If you want to be the first to know about new releases then feel free to follow me by clicking on the follow button on my book pages or on my author page.

I've been a writer for almost all my life. I wrote my first book when I was six, and even though it wasn't very good it did have monsters in it. It was a sign of things to come, as I spent most of my twenties and thirties writing horror books for children and teenagers under my full name, Alexander Gordon Smith, including the award-winning series Escape From Furnace. It was only after I had my three daughters that I thought about writing a series of thrillers about a detective with young children, and DCI Robbie Kett was born.

I live in Norwich with my family, where I spend half of my time writing and the other half trying to keep up with my three girls.

Great characters and Clare just gets funnier each book. Can’t recommend this series enough, each book is unique in its own way.

I love the DCI Kett books. This was an especially touching book because, as a parent, you do feel that you would do anything for your children. However, murder is not something that most of us would contemplate. These books have such wonderful characters and amazing storylines. I hope that horses will continue to feature in the books as a means to help Alice find her way. There is something special about the rich odor of horses that soothes the soul. I would recommend this series for anyone who loves a great British mystery.

Alex Smith is a truly wonderful writer, who is able to give the reader both a great crime plot and warm, fully developed characters. I eagerly await his books, and only wish there were more.

This book was thrilling from the first page! DCI Kett and team had to catch a killer who was cunning and dedicated to his “game”. I guarantee you will not figure it out! This book had it all. It had beautiful family moments, terrifying crimes and laugh out loud moments. I highly recommend this book. Beth P.

He's a new author to me and I'm indebted to David Gatward and JD Kirk for the recommendation. DCI Kett and his colleagues at the Norwich Constabulary are people I want to get to know better. Lucky Number Seven was a great read.

It is fast paced. I like that the main character loves his wife and children. Also, I must warn you it is very gory as the series deals with serial killers. I love it. Recommend it if you like that type of series. I like that you don't know at the beginning who did it. Keeps you guessing until the end.
Read all the books in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another diamond of a crime story.....

What a great imagination Alex Smith has. This particular book had many twists and turns but he always makes his books believable and characters gel, great storyline that still includes the lives of Kett's family and of course the rest of the team which intertwine with one another, they show compassion and a good sense of humour at the same time taking seriously their respective jobs. I would recommend the whole series of "Kett" books to anyone who loves crime novels as much as I.
I have given this book 5* because it deserves it.😀
