Deadly Secrets: A chain of events that could only lead to one conclusion, too frightening to believe. (DCI Cook Thriller Series Book 18) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 48 ratings

DCI Isaac Cook had long believed that Chief Superintendent Caddick was an incompetent fool. However, he had never thought him to be a criminal, not until ten persons had died in a terrorist attack in Whitehall, close to the Horse Guards Parade, not far from Downing Street.

Was Caddick involved? Had he organised the deaths of ten persons to save his mentor, Commissioner Davies of the London Metropolitan Police, who was close to censure and dismissal? Has Ibrahim Ali’s claim to the title of Lord Alsworthy been the reward for working with Caddick to protect Davies?

Isaac Cook senses a rat, but those he looks to for support aren’t responding. And then other people die, murdered in their homes.

A dead actress from a soap opera, is she the key? Cook believes she is, but the Secret Service is involved, and he cannot trust them, not even their femme fatale, Linda Harris.

Dark days for Isaac Cook, even darker days for the City of London. Crime has become a tradable commodity, and if it has, has it found its way to Scotland Yard and the commissioner’s office?

Wow! Isaac is conducting a secret investigation of his superiors, believing they are responsible for many murders to obtain power. Unsure whom to trust, knowing he can trust his team, he is putting himself, his family, and his team in danger. There are more murders to investigate, and they are all connected. How trustworthy are our police and politicians? I received this book as an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Politics is a very, very dirty business. More so when the movers and shakers are well protected by their sycophants.
As is Commissioner Davies by Caddick after the slaughter of ten bystanders in Whitehall in London.
A very frustrated DCI Cook surmises there is some kind of secret alliance operating but politics very much operates against his properly investigating it.
Then more people started dying. Influential people being murdered.
And more politics muddle the pool as Caddick takes over the job of Chief Superintendent.
Author Phillip Strang with Deadly Secrets gives excellent insight into how politics dictate our world, often negatively, leaving a rather sour taste on the tongue.
    Enjoy

Full of shifting and questionable alliances. Where should Cook place his trust among the people involved in the case? Always search for the truth!

An enjoyable book. Interesting story line but not one of the best in my view. Took me a while to “ get into it”.

An intricate and twisted plot that keeps you reading! The main characters are likeable and believable. I have enjoyed this series.
