AUTHOR'S NOTE: TRUTH OR FICTION?

I hope you enjoy this journey across continents and cultures. Many of the settings discussed in
The Decrypter: Secret of the Lost Manuscript are places close to my heart, where I have either lived or had the opportunity to visit.

Except for a couple of altered street names like St. Giles Square, each location in the novel is taken from the global map and I hope one day you'll have an opportunity to visit some of them. In the meantime, I endeavor to draw plots from the smells, the sights and the beauty of these places and hope that some of them captured your interest.

London, England UK. Calla Cress (28, British Museum curator, orphan, MA: Cambridge Linguistics, MA: U of Chicago History), got off the train at St. Pancras International & hustled through immigration.
A Range Rover was on the tail of her Maserati.
After a physical confrontation he wanted the Deveron Manuscript.

After 50 yrs. it was believed to be in Berlin, Germany.
Philler (60, buss syst. mgr.) was going to help Calla locate Marla Cox.
The names of the Father unknown, Bonnie Tyleman (mother, civil servant) & 200 more entries turned up.
Calla was informed she was selected for the Taskforce Carbonado team.
Berlin, Germany. Pergamon Museum. She met Manfred Bierman (RTL German media station). He seemed to know a whole lot about all the classified information.

DI Raimund Eichel informed Calla he had no idea where Allegra May Driscoll (67, Irish, wealthy mining baroness, Nobel Prize) was.
Alexander “Alex” Maxfield (55+, Asian, Guardian Chief Editor/Director) was not going to let Daddy’s girl Eva Lily Riche (Guardian newspaper reporter) write/report an article on the Pergamon Museum.

Calla had the run of the place & could continue her research there.
Calla & Nash Shields (son, colleague, former US Embassy, USMC, NSA) came to see Dr./Professor Guilford about Bishop Robert Lowth (Church of England, a scholar Oxford U; English professor).

What was Eva (Chief Editor/Director, journalist) snooping around about?
What were Agent Silver X3 & Agent Copper J21 up to?
What did Eva Riche (Riche Media) talk about?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written techno-thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great techno-thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

This book was a fun and great story. I don't know if it was translated from another language, but a few of the sentences and paragraphs were sometimes awkward
All in all, the book and its characters are gritty and tough.

The Decrypter has a lot of potential. The story is intriguing, the questions that are raised and the situations that the main antagonist attempts to engineer are plausible and relevant to modern life. However, the book suffers greatly from Mad Lib syndrome. For those who don't know, a Mad Lib is a story with missing words. Each missing word is left for the player to choose, using the part of speech indicated. For example this sentence is a Mad Lib: The _________ (adjective) inspector ate ______________ (noun, food) for breakfast. One person would call out the part of speech and the other person would provide a word to fill in the blank, without knowing the context it would be used in. Many, many sentences in this book are like this. It is most obvious with the adjectives, but honestly, I think every part of speech got a turn. As you can imagine, this slowed the plot down considerably, because I repeatedly had to stop and try to determine exactly what the author was trying to say.
Related to Mad Lib syndrome is I'm So Posh syndrome. I personally think of this as having an "ounce of pretension," which as everyone who's seen Steel Magnolias knows, is worth a pound of manure. So many places throughout the book a convoluted and nearly ridiculous description is provided when a simple sentence would have been so much more clear. In other places, in what seems to be an effort to seem intelligent and mysterious, information is omitted leaving the reader confused. Several times I found myself paging back trying to find a piece of information I missed because the passage I was trying to read made no sense.
Overall, I actually did enjoy the book. I would strongly recommend that the author hire a ruthless editor and not take personal offense when the novel is slashed to perhaps 60% of its current size. Furthermore, I think the book would then benefit from a reading group to shape and refine much of the dialogue. Once those two editorial processes have been implemented, this book could easily be a true best seller.

There are so many things I liked about this book. First it's long and involved but there are no dry or boring sections. There are a lot of characters - Calla, Nash and Jack with Allegra. Details, without being wordy, clarify character descriptions, places, events, etc. While there is one main plot, there are several others around the main plot and eventually all are connected. I love the characters. The book is long enough you feel like you know them. There is mystery, theft, intrigue, and a bit of the supernatural. While I'm not much of a science fiction fan, this book did a great job of incorporating the 'out of this world' elements so I enjoyed the idea very much. There are other books in the series and I will be reading them all.

I got so frustrated but the punctuation - and often the lack thereof. Missing commas, commas in wrong places, missing a space after a period (full stop) between sentences.

I saw this listed in the book lists and was intriuged by the storyline. I am a "reader" that is I enjoy reading but, am not a literary critic. That said I totally enjoyed the story and the characters, fast paced entertaining and engrossing. As to some of the other reviews, ok some misused words if you wish, but who cares when it is as much fun as this story. I cannot wait for the next book and please Rose keep writing and keep your enthusiasm, I for one and am sure many more do and will enjoy your offerings. 5 Stars

Fast paced and action packed is an understatement. Imagine Lara Croft and the Men from UNCLE pitted against the power hungry megalomania of Von Doom and Specter and you barely scratch the surface. A definite recommended read that transports you into a world that intertwines science fiction with historical fact. Creating a mesmerizing intercontinental and temporally divergent journey that seamlessly connects the realm of the supernatural with the grit and grime of everyday life. Underpinned with the emotional roller-coaster of a heart rending individual search for personal identity and belonging. Whilst still managing to maintain a level of believably that only intensifies and heightens the adventure along with the sense of being a part of something much bigger. Throw into the mix the spice of hesitant, awkward romance and you have an epic story for the modern time.
Rose Sandy is a true story teller of the modern day par excellence.
