Camille Picott has been writing Stories from the End of the World since she figured out how to turn on her family’s Apple IIe computer and wrangle a floppy disk into the drive. She loves zombies, hiking, and food (though not necessarily in that order).

She has a pet zombie named Steve who lives in her shed. He often comes out for family adventures and Instagram photos. (He is NOT a repurposed CPR dummy. He's a REAL zombie lovingly rescued from a dumpster who only happens to look like a repurposed CPR dummy.)

Stay in touch with Camille! She loves to chat about with her readers about the apocalypse, running, and her pet zombie (who loves beer). You can find her at:

I love the characters that are deep so vividly. From MamaBear, Carter and everyone else. It was not a happily ever after story. Some very important people did not make it or gave their lives to safe another Dp

I loved this second installment of Undead Ultra. Kate has come a long way since she first started off on her ultra to find her son Carter. Along the way she has lost the illusion that the world is going to magically get better. Her transformation kind of reminds me a little of Carol from Walking Dead, who is one of my favourites.

This time around she has the challenge of whipping Carter and his friends into shape to survive the zombie apocalypse. I gotta say, sometimes I wouldn't have minded if the zombies got a few of those college kids. Kate had much more patience than I do!

Overall a great addition to the series.

I enjoyed this one. Though I thought the first one was a little better. The college kids seemed a little extra stupid for their ages. I can see stressing out of course but total denial for all of them seems crazy. Over all though it was a fun read. No actual graphic sexual content but it does mention sex and rape. There is a lot of violence but that is to be expected in a Zombie Apocalypse. I recommend it for late teens and up.

This is a great series, not my usual read but very glad I started it. I don't think I hate running as much after reading this!!! More like I need to start running real soon.. It has great characters with a little bit of everything. I love the fact that nothing is really dragged on. It gets to the point with enough happening to tell the story and feel the story without you feeling like ur getting lost or bored.

In her first book Undead Ultra, Kate has run 200 miles, lost her friend Federico, was shot, and is now recovering with her son Carter and other inexperienced college students. In Dorm Life (Undead Ultra Book 2), she recovers and transforms into a tiger mom/drill instructor, where survival requires killing.

Kate resolves to whip the slackers into shape, and den mother doesn’t come close to describing her mutation into a character reminiscent of Barry Eisler’s assassin John Rain, who will resort even to self-sacrifice to protect her son, Carter. The zombies are blind but have a keen sense of hearing and smell, and the group uses sticks, screwdrivers, knives, guns, cast iron pans, or anything else available to kill them.

Kate is an ultra-runner, and this is about zombies, but is also a love story. Kate has lost her husband and her close friend Federico, and just found out about her son’s girlfriend, Jenna, who seems to be as sensible and tough as Kate.

When the movie starts production, I hope Camille makes these suggestions for the cast; Kate - Ali Wong, Jenna - Saoirse Ronan, Carter - Noah Centineo.

    Notable lines;
Kate: “Yep. I’m in a pigsty. A pigsty populated with college kids."
Johnny (the student writer): “I only use it to stimulate my creativity. I’m not a pothead or anything.”
Jenna: “It’s Kate. Thank (effin) God."

    Just read this book.

I read Dawn Patrol and Book 1 in record time. Not so much, with this one. I like more gore and zombie interaction. I also didn't get the urgent need to get a wash machine running. There are way more important things to be done in a zombie apocalypse. Besides, there are hundreds of dorm rooms. There should be clothes everywhere

All praises to Camille Picott. Her ‘Undead Ultra’ series captures how individuals survive during an apocalypse. In this case blind zombies. I really liked the series because she has strong characters that make you care about them. Here the hook is the main characters in book one are ultra-runners. I didn’t know what that was prior to reading the book. Now that I know what that is and the people that do it are crazy. The main characters are Kate and her running buddy Frederico caught up in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. She decides to get to her son in college that over 100 hundred miles away. They run that entire distance, day and night, and along the way have run-ins that seem impossible to get out of. That’s what grabs you. What keeps them going against those odds? That’s the trust of the story. Without giving much away, Kate and Frederico changes and survives in ways they and you couldn’t foresee. I’m ready for the next book in the series. If you not sure you want to invest in the series, check out the prequel. You won’t be disappointed.

Another great read by Camille! I can’t find a bad thing to fix, and the mom in me would do the very same things to protect my own kids. Though I might try going to Fort Ross- they are close to the ocean ever heard of a boat?! And they need more women, fights will break out soon as the guys get “ lonely” - more than 4 women had to have survived the apocalypse. I guess we’ll see in the next book

Wow! Words are difficult to find that will do this book justice. Seeing how Kate has grown, changed, and accepted the world she is now in has been a most enjoyable journey. Carter’s mom sure has changed. There is so much a reader can resonate with, and it’s so very hard to say goodbye to a great bunch of kids when The End highlights the last page. I loved every single word!!!

Picott has created a cast of characters who we want to succeed in the many life and death crises they find themselves in. The writing is stront, the details about running and training add depth to the story without bogging it down and the story moves along quickly. I'm hoping for another book - and soon!
