Dying Truth: A completely gripping crime thriller (Detective Kim Stone Book 8) Kindle Edition
When teenager Sadie Winter jumps from the roof of her school, her death is ruled as suicide – a final devastating act from a troubled girl. But then the broken body of a young boy is discovered at the same school and it’s clear to Detective Kim Stone that these deaths are not tragic accidents.
As Kim and her team begin to unravel a dark web of secrets, one of the teachers could hold the key to the truth. Yet just as she is about to break her silence, she is found dead.
With more children’s lives at risk, Kim has to consider the unthinkable – whether a fellow pupil could be responsible for the murders. Investigating the psychology of children that kill brings the detective into contact with her former adversary, Dr Alex Thorne – the sociopath who has made it her life’s work to destroy Kim.
Desperate to catch the killer, Kim finds a link between the recent murders and an initiation prank that happened at the school decades earlier. But saving these innocent lives comes at a cost – and one of Kim’s own might pay the ultimate price.
An utterly addictive crime thriller from the Number One bestselling author – you will be gripped until the final shocking twist.
Can be read as a standalone.

About the author

Angela Marsons is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of the DI Kim Stone series and her books have sold more than 5 million in 7 years.
She lives in Worcestershire with her partner and their 2 cheeky Golden Retrievers.
She first discovered her love of writing at Junior School when actual lessons came second to watching other people and quietly making up her own stories about them. Her report card invariably read "Angela would do well if she minded her own business as well as she minds other people's".
After years of writing relationship based stories (The Forgotten Woman and Dear Mother) Angela turned to Crime, fictionally speaking of course, and developed a character that refused to go away.
She is signed to Bookouture.com for a total of 28 books in the Kim Stone series and her books have been translated into 30 languages.
Many of her books, including Blood Lines, Dead Souls, Broken Bones, Fatal Promise and Dead Memories reached the #1 spot on Amazon on pre-orders alone and the translation of Dead Souls, La Verita Sepolte, recently won the prestigious Primo Bancarella award.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2018It's pretty hard for me to cry and type at the same time! This book was a shocker on many levels and as in all her books, Angela has hit a nerve on another pressing social issue- bullies, secret clubs and how we can all descend into Lord of the Flies. Am I glad I never went to boarding school, because this one is a hotbed of horror- and horror that spans generations. Filled with the most unsympathetic (save 2) characters, even the reappearance of Alexandra Thorne no longer shocks as much as these kids do. Kudos to Angela for making me feel sympathy for Alexandra- to be devoid of all feeling must be a horror in itself-and it takes a great writer to make me feel sorry for a monster. I loved the twists and turns, and like other reviewers, the ending left me shocked and sad and I also feel like I've lost a friend.
And in these times, where lies seem to be the norm, coming down from the highest seat of power, the title of this book alone is a master stroke.
If you have not read the Kim Stone books, do yourself a favor and start with book 1 and you will be hooked. Prepare to shed some tears along the way, and look forward to the next installment of life with this incredible character, who has more baggage than the carousel at Kennedy Airport- but you love her anyway.. Thanks Angela for another terrific read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2018I really enjoy Marsden's books. They're easy reads but stay entertaining. This one was perhaps even better than the earlier ones. I like the fact that Kim has grown tougher, better able to handle herself in any situation. At first with this book set in an exclusive, historic British school, I felt a little like I'd entered Hogwarts--the houses of Hogwarts--and Spades was Slytherin. But that wasn't all there was to it. I'd just say to the author, thanks for good books at a reasonable price.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2021It’s rare I give 5 stars, and I really do mean rare, but the novels featuring Kim Stone & her awesome team of detectives are one of the best that you will ever read, trust me I’ve found a few bad ones during my reading over the years.
This author deserves so much more credence and applause than she is receiving. The plot twists & turns are ingenious & keep you guesstimating with every turn of the page, you will be so sure you’ve worked it all out, then *Wham!* she hits you with a sucker punch of a new twist you never saw coming.
I also rarely write reviews as such, with kindles and Good Reads I’ve found myself more drawn to using those functions to review as I go along, I mean who remembers at the end of a book all of the details you noticed while reading? A word to the wise though, my guesstimating & inventing my own plot twists can spin you around sideways! Oh and if you ever wonder what the term ‘little red fishies’ means in my notes, it’s my lingo for Red Herrings, something most readers know of.
Finally, I never saw this ending coming, I won’t say why…
Thank you Angela Marsons for your amazing gift as a writer & allowing all of us to enjoy it as well.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2018Almost always, no matter the genre, by this point in a series an author has lost me for one reason or another. This one? She isn’t even close to losing me yet. I have literally JUST put this one down and I can’t wait to gorge myself on the next one.
I have always loved how this author tackles the different issues she brings up in the books in this series and this one is no different. There is an awesome balance of looking at those issues without falling into preaching or judging from either side. In this case, the focus being on the privilege of the moneyed and elite.
Kim’s character is still riding the edge of being a broken human with mountains of baggage, but still being compassionate and dragging herself forward one step at a time. This book continues to keep every character interaction solid and realistic within the team. Though I will say, without spoiling much, that I really wasn’t ready for how this ended. I was deeply shocked, but again, the author handled the whole situation in an awesomely realistic way.
As awesome as this book was, it is keeping this series solidly on my “buy on release day” list.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2018This is Angela Marsons 8th book in this series and as usual, she hits it out of the ballpark. You become quite invested in her characters and they start to feel like old friends after a while. I am always waiting for her next book to see where she is taking her characters and this book did not disappoint! I always find myself cheering these characters on and love watching them grow as each book explores parts of their past. Kim Stone, the main character, is a no nonsense, take charge detective whose own personal flaws have made her one of the best in the business. In this book, children are dying at an exclusive school and as Kim and her team race against time to save them she has to consider that perhaps, this is children killing other children. While the school wants the investigation stopped, Kim wont let go of the investigation and wont let the forces of the elite stop her either. What she ultimately finds will have you gripping your seat and have your heart pounding as you wait to see how this book comes to an end!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2018I have followed this series from number one. This is number eight and it took me a little bit of time till I got into the book and could remember the characters. Once back into the thick of things the plot picked up. Set predominantly in a high-end boarding school, Kim Stone and her team are faced with multiple deaths of children from the school. Kim’s gut instinct says that they’re all linked, but some members of her team aren’t quite so convinced. This was a high energy, shocking and gripping read but didn't like the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Verdadeiro page turner

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, go for it!
The book is very gripping and picks up pace as it goes and is nearly impossible to put down towards the end. Go for it, you won’t regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottavo libro di Angela marsons
