I published my first novel in 2014; that was the first part of the Tales of a Modern Woman trilogy where I uncover the motivations and actions of a young woman searching for her place in the world. In Search of My Perfect Life is a novel about a modern woman born with an expectation of equality. Faking It is a romantic suspense novel about industrial espionage set in London and Surrey.

My novellas focus on life throwing a curve ball. Walking Back Toward Myself tells the story of Christina, who rediscovers her true self when her job, home and marriage crumble beneath her. Like Father, Like Son is a romantic intrigue and explores the effect of Cupid playing tricks on people who are already hiding secrets from their partners. The Secret of Contentment is a romantic intrigue that explores the reverberations and revelations that ripple into many people's lives when a secret is uncovered.

My latest book is a contemporary novella with a supernatural twist called Son of the Furrows.

I have also written Crumbs from the Bread of Life - a collection of short stories and poetry - and The Sisterhood Illusion - a play that throws the spotlight on how women both support and use each other in the guise of friendship.

Be it saga or suspense, crime or family drama, I'm a sucker for a love story and you'll find someone in my books will always have a happy ending.

I took this book on vacation and it was a perfect fit. The writing is clear and straightforward, and propels the story forward. The themes of sharing and female friendship resonated for me. I started out not liking the main character - how can you like what Juliet does for a living? But as she revealed her story, her good qualities became apparent. I liked the multiple points of view used to represent the characters; almost all of them had nice depth. The landlady Elsie is a hoot! My English husband needed to perform "translation" duties in a couple of places, but I think the book is quite accessible for an American audience. Enjoy!

I've read several novels by Jane Sleight, who is best known as an author of romance and contemporary women's fiction. In Faking It she steps away from those genres into twisty thriller territory and has taken her writing to a new level.

The story opens with a bang. We walk alongside protagonist, Juliet as she embarks on her work mission of 'entertaining' target males from competitors or clients of her corrupt boss's company. This might involve drugging them and searching for commercial secrets or blackmail material. The author's descriptions of Juliet's methodical work, searching for secrets and taking apart the victims' phones and laptops is fascinating. The nature of this work leads Juliet into danger. We learn why she is so emotionally damaged in her non-business life so that she will demean herself in some of these encounters.

There's a point in the story where the plot loses pace because the author veers off into familiar domestic fiction territory of descrbing how characters cook a Sunday roast and the making of multiple cups of tea so I've deducted half a star and my rating is 4.5, rounded up to 5 stars for the review. A quick and enjoyable read.

I really liked this book which is even better than Sasha by the same author. It started strongly with a lot happening in the first chapter. I felt there was more to Juliet and she wasn't as superficial as we first see. Flipping the chapters between different character's perspectives was a great idea to keep the story and sub plots moving along. I'd like to find out more about the characters. Elsie was great and Juliet and Phil must have so much to reveal about their work and personal lives
