Dix (Elite 8 Studios Book 1) Kindle Edition
Dixon
If I had to choose one word to describe my new cocky costar, it’d be exasperating. Nikolas Adamos may look like a Greek god—and he certainly struts around like he knows it—but unlike everyone else, I refuse to fall prey to his charms.
Unfortunately for me, Niko and I get paired to do a series of lovey-dovey boyfriend videos for our employers at Elite 8 Studios. And when you film the sort of scenes we do, up close and personal takes on a whole new meaning.
I may have to play nice while the cameras are rolling, but off set, it’s another matter entirely. So what if our chemistry is off the charts? That doesn’t mean a thing. Nor does the tender look in Niko’s eye when we’re together under the lights.
Because I know the truth. Nikolas Adamos revels in riling me up. And even though my pesky friends think I need fireworks after a string of fizzled relationships, I have no doubt if I allow myself to get any closer to my new fake boyfriend, I’ll only end up burned.
Dix is a grumpy/sunshine, one-sided enemies-to-lovers romance with hate at first sight, forced proximity for two costars who work between the sheets, banter and snark galore, plenty of industrial-sized lube, and one very HEA. It’s book 1 in the Elite 8 Studios series, featuring characters that were introduced in Virgin Hearts (Plum Valley Cowboys Book 2), but can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2025My second book by Emmy Sanders and it did not disappoint!!
Dix and Niko had such amazing chemistry with each other. The back and forth banter, the tension, and their boyfriend arc scenes at the studio were delicious. Dix, even with his grumpiness, hooked me from the start. He was a tough nut to crack, but I was so happy when he relaxed his guard. He really has such a warm and loving soul. And Niko had such a bright and confident energy and personality. I quite enjoyed how he rolled with the punches.
I loved the actors of Elite 8 Studios. Emmy Sanders knows how to make her side characters just as amazing as her main ones. And I love the relationship Dix and Niko had with them.
Will definitely be continuing this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 20253.5 Stars. I adored the found family and large cast of characters. I adored both Dixon and Niko. I was more more invested in the found family of it all than in Niko and Dixon’s relationship though, but the book was a lot of fun with low angst and lots of reasons to smile.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2025This book was sweet and kind, but i wouldn't claim I was ever invested. I would describe it as Fluffy to the point of blurry in reflection. Narrator was good.
I don't think it's possible to maintain content intensity like Fool hearts and Firefly consistently while putting out the quantity that this author has released, and seeking out that quality is a bit unfair.
I've read a fair bit of their recommended catalog at this point and nothing is even in the same weight class as those two books. I'm sort of wondering if it's the same author sometimes.
They were fine books, but cookie cutter, even with unique circumstances.
But I still think I'll abstain from this author until I see something with a bit more heat till then.
Not to discourage the author of course, these series are well loved, just looking forward to the next time they love and live their characters as much as those first two bangers.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2023Not as good as the Plum Valley Cowboy books. Those all brought me to tears at times. This book is good and I love all the characters at Elite 8; it’s just not great.
Dix seemed more playful when he was living with Mateo and we were introduced to him in the Plum Valley books. He’s harder here and I feel like I would have actually liked to see him in his previous relationship versus how this started with him already broken up with Regina.
It moved a bit slow at times and I found myself putting it down, whereas I binged the previous books. The sex scenes were hot and that’s also where most of the chemistry and sweet feelings were shown, so it was a bit of a disconnect to not feel any of that connection when the two were out of bed. So that was a bit of a fail for me, but I still love the books and the characters and will keep reading both series. Malibu is next, but I’m most looking forward to Alex’s story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2024This was a sweet fluffy book with no angst. But it kept me entertained and reading so I give it like 3.75 stars. There is a surprisingly minimal amount of spice given the porn stars setting. But the characters are sweet and I liked watching Niko win Dixon over. I will keep reading this series in between my heavier books.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2025A great story about recognizing and owning one's feelings. A budding love story of (one sided) enemies to lovers and family. A great story!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024Romance - 5/5
Angst - 2/5
Spice - 3/5
This was such a good book. Light-hearted and sassy with very little angst. Yes, there were some sad mentions about Dixon's parents and the anxiety over Malibu made things tense! In fact, most of the angst was centered around Malibu and not Dixon and Nikki. The banter was hilarious and while there was spice at the beginning, when they were doing their first scenes together, after that the spice mellowed out and either did a vague overview of the sexy time or just skipped over it. That was a little disappointing, but the romance of their story more than made up for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2023To be so young, Dix is a real curmudgeon. Because of his boring ways he has now lost another long-time girlfriend, Regina. As he is a M/M adult entertainment star, I wonder why he never thought of men for a long-term relationship. He accepts that he is Bi. I think Dix had trouble maintaining a relationship with women who thought he was cold and unavailable because women expect something different in their partner. Whereas a man is more accepting because he understands. That’s where we find Dix. He is introduced to the newest member of their acting troupe, Nikolas Adamos or Niko who is cocky and smiles a lot. Dix is immediately put off. Does he protest too much?
Their romantic journey is more realistic in my mind than some other M/M romances that I have read. I found this book slow in the middle but very smooth in the beginning and the ending. Love the epilogue. Malibu’s story is all keyed up from this book, which has spent a considerable amount of time giving the reader glimpses of Mal’s break down. Can’t wait to find out who his love interest will be. Will it be someone at his studio, Elite 8? Or someone outside that life? Looking forward to discovering that. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars Investing myself in another of Emmy's fabulous series!
Investing myself in another of Emmy's fabulous series! The talents of the Elite 8 Studios! Starting with Dix.
The story introduces us to Dixon (Dix), a grumpy giant of a man determined to dislike his new co-star, Niko Adamos (aka Adonis), but their chemistry is undeniable.
“𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆, 𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒎𝒆.”
I loved Dixon's gruff exterior hiding a heart of gold, and his friendships with Matteo and Alex were precious. Niko's laid-back approach and positive attitude clash perfectly with Dixon's grumpiness, making for an electric dynamic.
The first book in a series has a lot to accomplish: establishing a new world and characters while still delivering a compelling plot. "Dix" succeeds on all fronts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
First time reading this author and I will definitly read more! I really love this story, Dixon and Niko are perfect for each other! I can't wait to read Malibu's story but for now I'm off reading her other series "Plum Valley Cowboys".

5.0 out of 5 stars A-dorable!
Adorable adorable ADORABLE! (I mean, and hot as heck too haha)
These two are so fun, the grump and moody Dixon just absolutely loathing the bubbly Niko on first sight. Only to find they are going to be paired together in a boyfriend arc at work and will have to work very closely together 😉
Of course, Dixon eventually starts to let his walls down a little and Niko stops pushing so hard to get Dix to like him, and not poking so much fun at him. They start to spend time outside of work and Niko wants to show Dixon that he has real feelings for him - without scaring him off!
