End of Story Kindle Edition
New York Times bestselling sensation Kylie Scott’s sexy, smart and unconventional opposites-attract love story looks at what happens when fate refuses to give up on what’s meant to be…
When Susie Bowen inherits a charming fixer-upper from her aunt, she’s excited to start living her best HGTV life. But when she opens the door to find that her contractor is none other than her ex’s best friend, Lars—the same man who witnessed their humiliating public breakup six months ago—she isn’t exactly eager to have anyone around whose alliance is with the enemy. But beggars can’t be choosers, and the sooner the repairs are done, the sooner she can get back to embracing singledom.
Things go from awkward to unbelievable when Lars discovers a divorce certificate hidden in a wall and dated ten years in the future—with both their names on it. It couldn’t possibly be real…could it? As Susie and Lars work to unravel the document’s origins, the impossibility of a spark between them suddenly doesn’t seem so far-fetched. But would a relationship between them be doomed before it’s even begun?
“Sweet and spicy—the unique setup, top-notch banter and charming enigma had me hooked.” —Anna E. Collins, author of Love at First Spite

- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2023I truly enjoyed reading this book. I think Kylie Scott is an amazing author and is able to bring the characters to life. Susie is publicly dumped by her boyfriend of a year and the very next day her beloved aunt dies, leaving Susie her house. A few months later the Ex's best friend Lars shows up at the house to fix a leak and the pair discover a divorce certificate for the 2 of them dated 10 years in the future. What comes of the divorce certificate is a funny, sweet and engaging story. I highly recommend this book, although I do recommend taking a look at the prequel which for some weird reason is at the end of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2025This story was super original, and I loved the whole dynamics of the book. Well, I do wish there had been a bit more spice, it was definitely a cute read.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2023Susie and Lars are so good together, even when they’re not and despite a rocky start. Be sure to read the prequel, Beginning of the End (that will probably be at the end of your copy of End of Story), to know the backstory and, oh, what a backstory it is!
If you enjoy a little unexplainable intrigue and love a FMC who is comfortable in her own skin and knows she deserves better than she’s gotten in the past, End of Story will give you the warm fuzzies…promise!
For Kylie Scott fans, think of Lars as a more transparent Joe from The Dive Bar series and think of Susie as a cross between Evelyn from The Stage Dive series and Clem from Repeat. And, for those of you who haven’t a clue who these characters are, you are missing out! Jump into Kylie Scott’s worlds - I’m sure glad I did!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2023This author is an auto buy for me. This might change, but more on that later. The main characters were much like many of KS characters, awesome, flawed and sweet. She is the one author I don’t mind reading rambling “inner thoughts”. Susie was a great contradiction, put together, successful, but also very insecure. Life’s experiences tends to do that. Lars was the same. It was nice to see the slow burn of them getting closer. They brought out the best in each other.
Not a lot of angst, just a few key awful people that are made transparent eventually. There was a very real life feel to this. I have to admit (gasp) I did skim a bit in the beginning. It felt a little drawn out in the first half rather than a delicious teasing slow burn. It does work as a whole, and turned into a decent read.
Complaints - I never understood the divorce decree inclusion. Was it a bit of woo woo thrown in? It was a gimmick that was completely unnecessary. Also, back to the auto buy. I bought the prequel when first advertised without looking at what it was. I feel a bit cheated out of my reading $’s. Especially since it is included in this book for free. Not a nice way to treat loyal readers. No more auto buys before researching KS books for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024I made the unfortunate mistake of buying this book and then forgetting it was sitting there waiting. There was a lot I liked about it before I even opened it, so I have no excuse as to why it took me so long, and I’m an idiot, because this is a great book. I loved the cover and synopsis, both had me wanting to know where this story would end up. I feel I’m tending to find authors that can captivate me from the start with amazing characters and a story that has a new feel to it. I need the tale to have depth and intelligent conversations with witty banter and I found all that here.
I loved Susie and Lars. The way they went about finding answers or renovating her house, the time they spent together was special. I’m not into books that have added drama disguised as angst so I so much appreciated that when this couple had a problem, they talked and worked their way through it. They had maturity from the start but each also had growth in other areas. Susie was strong and funny and knew what she wanted in life and wasn’t worried with doing it all by herself. Lars came from another perspective, and he was man enough to know that compromise is key to a good relationship. Neither set out to be together but they couldn’t deny the strong attraction they had. It has a beautiful epilogue too that makes me feel they will always have their HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2024In considering what I liked best about this book, I would have to say Susie's internal dialogue, which is both heartfelt and hilarious. I wish I knew her in real life. I would love to know Cléo too. The hero is swoon-worthy, but also someone it would be nice to have as a friend. The premise is unusual and intriguing. I will be reading this one again.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2024This was such a unique story, and I really enjoyed it. The setting was local to me, and I loved seeing things that I was familiar with. Actually could have done with more of the Pacific Northwest, but that's just me. I loved the couple, and the side characters (minus the ex/best friend) and the mystery. I do wish there was some sort of closure on the mystery, but it also kind of adds to the charm of the book by not having it. The audiobook was great, also adding to my experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2023What I really like about Kylie Scott is her ability to cone up with really great plots that haven't been done over and over. She is also great with taking a plotline that's familiar and putting her own special voice to it which really helps her books stand out. This book was such a refreshing read. The characters were all likeable except of course for the Ex and his evil mother! The relationship between the H and h was so good and did not drag. You are routing for them as soon as they find the decree. I recommend for anyone wanting a good weekend read.

5.0 out of 5 stars make your own mind up time
This book is different to others I’ve read. The mystery of the future divorce certificate.
Time travel?
Parallel dimension?
A hoax?
It keeps you guessing with a variety of theories throughout.
The book is charming. Keeps you intrigued and interested. It’s funny and I love Suzie’s straight forward attitude and weirdness. And I love that she automatically goes to supernatural theories whilst Lars tends to be more level header and practical. Their romance grows and it’s great to read. And that damn cat!
It’s a book that will keep you guessing. Make you laugh. And one I would happily re-read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing
So I’m on a bit of a Kylie Scott reading kick at the moment. Re-reading old favourites and also books that have been sitting on my kindle for some time now. This was an entertaining read that kept me interested and one that I easily finished in a day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome one
I love all her books and this one didn't fail. Wish I knew the prequel was at the end of it so I didn't need to buy it, but they are both fun, witty as usual with her books, and I enjoyed every page.
