Enflamed by Fire: A Monstrous Fated Mates Romance (Sacrificed to Monster Gods) Kindle Edition

3.8 out of 5 stars 49 ratings

When you’re courting a fire god, he’ll literally burn for you.

I don’t get days off. If something goes wrong on set, I’m the one who puts out the fires. So when a blazing hot dragon god from another dimension whisks me away, it’s the vacation I never knew I needed.

The only thing is, he as violent and tempestuous as the element he represents. But his protective and fierce nature stokes the fires of my passion and teaches me I don’t have to keep everything bottled up inside.

We can’t stay in this pocket dimension forever. I’m hardly surprised when he admits he broke out of some sort of monster-god prison, but the forces sent to collect him are even more terrifying than he is.

I don’t want him to set the world on fire, but I can’t ignore the flames he started in my heart.

Enflamed by Fire is the second novella in the Sacrificed to the Monster Gods series, a 13-part interconnected series where each of the gods find an HEA with their fated True Offering. It features a human trans woman falling for her big possessive dragon god, explicit sexual scenes, BDSM, primal play, biting, branding, and breath play. And a nice lil' massage.

This is a cute and easy read with some decent spice (i’d say 2, 2.5 on a scale of 1-5) and some great characters. I know it’s a short one (coming in at only 99 pages) but..I really wish some of the world building was done a little better. The first chapter left me wholly confused as to what was happening, and even upon finishing the book I don’t think I got the whole true offering and what they mean to the gods and why there has to be a contract thing. That being said, I dove straight into this book and I know this is part of a series so perhaps its explained better in other books leading up to this one.

I did enjoy how cute Pyre and Serena were, the play in their relationship and just how readily Pyre put all of Serena’s fears to rest. Would read the other books in the series just to 1) hopefully find out the whole story about the offerings and gods and 2) learn about the other characters that we glimpsed. They seemed interesting.

There are several pages of warnings at the beginning of this story and that concerned me about what I might be getting myself into with this one. However, I've read everything Latrexa has written so far and adored all of it, so I kept going past all those warnings. So thankful I did too because I ended up loving this story too. There was a lot of push and pull between Serena and Pyre and them learning to deal with each other and with their powers over each other and how it affects those around them. I loved the idea of being in a pocket dimension that lets you feel like it's been a century doing the horizontal tango while in the real world it's been an hour and a half. I found that humorous. I also found a lot of humor in the names that Serena calls Pyre, referencing human culture and Pyre being absolutely clueless to all of it. It did make the chuckle. I look forward to reading the next in this series about dreams and nightmares and their True Offering.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The story is a classic “monstrous powerful being finds human mate, they get it on, there’s some trouble, everyone makes up, HEA.” It’s what the people want, it’s what we crave, it’s what we need, and thankfully we get it. The difference between the thousands of other stories with the same type of plot and a story by Latrexa, however, is the gosh darn emotional attacks I never expect.

This book is about a trans woman making her own decision when the road is laid out before her. Should she choose to go with the life she already knows or the one that’s dangerous but could offer wonderful reward? We sometimes in our lives have to choose between bland security or passionate risk and regret the choice we made. The moment where Serena has to decide whether or not to take the path fate chose for her should feel familiar to people who’ve ever taken the risky route and had to make a second choice. That moment changed the book from a simply pleasant trans perspective on the monster-human fated mate genre, to a book I had to message a friend about and tell him to read immediately.

So check out the book for 1. Big fire monster 2. Lead woman in the story who is trans but isn’t treated in a fetishistic way 3. Big Feels

An assistant director on a movie set is plucked up by a dragon god who has busted out of a divine prison to find his fated mate and is taken to a pocket dimension for a spicy time. I would recommend reading the authors note before starting because the heroine is a non-op trans woman and it explains the terms she uses to refer to parts of her body.

This was a very short read that was a lot of fun. I wasn't expecting too much world building wise because it's short but some of the magical concepts that were essential to the premise of the story weren't defined or explained until far into the story and that made it a bit confusing. This is a spicy novella but the writing style varies between graphic and glossed over.

But this is perfect for quick monster romance read with a really interesting concept (gods who planned to destroy the world are imprisoned with the promise of a human true mate to keep them from committing destruction). This is also a good read if you want some instalust/instalove where is he immediately obsessed and devoted to her. There's no question he adores her & immediately accepts her being trans and non-op. The story definitely affirms that trans people do not have to have surgery to be valid if they don't want to.

A quick monster romance novella that hooked me with the promise of a fun lil' massage (see blurb) and certainly delivered (on that AND MORE).

Listen, I'm never NOT going to love it when the monster is immediately obsessed with his human mate. The care Pyre shows Serena for her body and heart (from the very beginning) is exactly what I love to read. Serena's sense of humor as she navigates a brand new relationship/attraction to Pyre (who may or may not be a harbinger of the apocalypse) had me chuckling. That said, I was left confused by the monster prison subplot- I mean - I understand it's connected to the other books in the series but some of the finer details seemed to be missing here.

Highly recommend reading the author's note at the beginning, which I felt was written with a lot of love and care and includes very important information about the terms/definitions Serena uses to describe her body as a trans woman.

This. This is exactly the kind of paranormal romance relationships I love. I just wish it was longer honestly. It had a few moments where it felt like bits were missing. But I adored the store. I loved the characters so much. Their relationship is so cute. It was funny and I could 100% see my self diving into the rest of the world and characters so easily. Sweet, spicy, wonderful.

Loved how obsessed the fmc is with the mmc, she just gets consumed by him. (No pun intended) they fit so well together despite their dangerous effect on each other. Also I felt the lgbtqia representation here was done in a positive way and their story was wrote just as any other love story.
