Her importance in the plot develops later. I felt the ending left too many open questions which was disappointing but this was the first in a series so the author was setting the reader for more.

    I really liked the Entomologist angle of the story and found it very interesting. The rest of the story fell a bit flat for me.

    The continuous angst about personal relationships was out of place and unprofessional and then the way they would come up with an angle, like the electricity usage and then the first possible suspect has to be the killer! When he isn’t they don’t follow up on that but fall head first into the book lice clue. Same story!
    I just don’t think it’s a realistic portrayal of an investigation. And then the main character confronts a suspect on her own even though she has no relevant training! 🤷🏻‍♀️

    The plot for the book sounded good, but the writing often becomes redundant and trite. At one point there was a line that went, ". . .she admired her for being so strong and admirable." 😒 I'm also one of those detail oriented readers who wants a full wrap-up; how many people were killed? What was the motivation that triggered the killer? etc. If your characters are FBI agents who are profiling, then I'd expect some kind of summary at the end, even if it's brief before finishing with the character drama. Again, a quick little read if you're not wanting to have to follow a complex plot.
