Hi! I’m Jillian, the author of children’s books about the history and culture of China, even though I live all the way Down Under.
I’m also a mother of two, and my children are the main reason I started writing books. When they were still little, I had to delve into my Chinese roots for a family reunion. That’s when I stumbled on the most amazing stories about the emperors, warriors, artists, and inventors that make up the long and colorful culture and history of China.
Inspired, I decided to bring these stories to life, so that my kids could learn more about their Chinese heritage. No dates, no dry details—just interesting stories that they could enjoy and hopefully, learn a fact or two in the process. Luckily, they liked them so much that they encouraged me to share my stories with the world.
Visit my website www.jillianlin.com to get a free e-book and find out more about my book series ‘Heroes of China’ (3-6 years), ‘Once Upon A Time In China’ (6-12 years) and 'Fun Festivals' (3-6 years). I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2018This book was clearly written for little ones, but pourly done. Children can tell when they are being written down to, and typically lose interest real quickly; which I found to be true for this book. I was quite disapointed because it could have been a wonderful introduction to China for my kids.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2019If you want to learn to read and write Simplified Chinese what better way than with children’s books.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2017I'm looking for books for kids 6 and under, on interesting topics, that will capture some aspect of the imagination. This hits every mark, and has the added bonus of using a vocabulary I think our youngest readers can handles, adds interest for them with the dual language, and after the story urges them to think.
