- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2022POV: first-person, dual POV - Evan and Josie/Freya
Fool Me Thrice starts jointly as Fool Me Twice, wherein part of Book 2's final chapters intersects and is told from Evan's POV - leading up to Book 2's finale. I enjoyed the "interlocking scenes" that jived and stayed true to the previous book. It was delightful to revisit the other Beckets, even if it was a "gloom and doom" moment.
Since this will be the last book in the series, one can expect more action, more suspense, and a lot of angst and slow-burn between Evan and Josie/Freya.
The storyline's complexity will make reading the whole series worthwhile! I highly suggest readers read the prequel and Book 1 before starting this book to see the clues and connections that will come full circle. When the answers come, be ready to be in awe.
I appreciate the author's detailed character development that gives new meaning to "slow-burn." Josie's character goes through a "coming of age" growth - physically and emotionally, from a young adult to a woman. Although readers will be in the thick of the mystery/suspense of the story, we also see Josie's coming of age story, wherein she goes through much angst with the reluctant Evan!
Evan has been with us from day 1, but it is only in this book that readers will see all his insecurities, which hinders him from listening to his feelings about Josie that would have given readers relief from all the tension all over the book. A lot more backstory is going on with him, making him one of the book's most angst yet intriguing characters.
Although I found the ending was a bit faster than I wanted, or maybe because I was blind-sighted by the killer in the end. I did not know who was responsible up until the killer was "unmasked," so all around, I would say this was a very successful ending!
Overall, I could not put Fool Me Thrice down! There is more nail-biting suspense with looming uncertainty in each chapter as Evan and Josie/Freya navigate their complicated relationship and find a serial killer. The book is an excellent example of the "right kind" of balance - between character growth AND zeroing in to find the serial killers (hint hint) that span months of investigation, leading to "unexpected acquaintances," revisit of past characters, more deaths, and twists that will surprise and shock readers.
I highly recommend this book to suspense and thriller buffs!

Plot 5✨
Uprooting her life, changing her name, and starting over was not an easy thing for Joise, now known as Freya, to come to terms to when she was younger. Joise and her mother have lived their lives hiding in plain sight as well as her famous NFL player brother. It's the same routine everyday but Freya knows it has to be done to keep them safe.
They say that there will always be one case that sticks with an FBI Agent and for Evan Price that is the Beckett case. He has spent the last years making sure they all are safe, and their tormentor is where he belongs, in prison. When both Michael and Freya contact him saying they have seen the man in a black hoodie watching, he believes it is just PTSD from living in fear for too long.
When Freya saw the man watching her, she thought she was seeing things, but know she is not so sure. If it was a figment of her imagination why is Agent Price now parked outside her house more days than not?
Was the man just a figment of Freya's fear?
Who has started the game again and can they be more dangerous than the original game master?
Why can't Evan stop crossing boundaries when it comes to Freya?
Will the Beckett's Trick them Thrice or has the game finally come to an end?
I was lucky enough to get the final installment of the Fool me series early. We met Agent Price in Fool me Twice and get to find out more about what drives him in this book. This book will keep you on your toes, there is twist and turns throughout the whole thing. It is a very slow burn romance, we get to watch Evan and Freya/Josie go from hate, to friends, to eventually love. This is a book that you can reread and find new things in it. I was sad when I turned the last page because I did not want to let this family go. Amazing read!!!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2022OH MY WORD! This story grabbed ahold of me, and did not let go.
From the very first chapter to the very last page, I was all in.
Simply put, Josie and Evan are amazing.
I kept waiting for the "cat" to appear and make their presence known. Once they did, I kept looking for signs another appearance was about to happen.
How everything played out in the cat and mouse game was intense. It is romantic suspense perfection. I honestly did not figure out who was behind it all until closer to the end. There were plenty of candidates swirling around in my mind though.
Go start this series with Fool Me Once, and be prepared to fall for Lizzie Morton's writing, and her characters. Absolutely fabulous!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fool Me Thrice - 5 stars for sure
ARC Review and leaving and honest review.
Oh my goodness, what can I say about Fool Me Thrice. It definitely gave me all the feels and kept me rooted to the edge of the seat. There were so many twists and turns and kept me interested through the whole book. I love Lizzie’s writing and could absolutely feel what each character was going through. Poor Josie was so lost and although Agent Price was just as lost I was happy to see them work it out together and the chemistry between them was epic. It was also good to see how Josie felt about Brittany and 100% agreed with her feels, although it wasn’t 100% Brittany’s intention.
This book had me going through so many emotions. I don’t want to say too much about the story as I don’t want to give anything away. Fool Me Thrice answers so many unanswered questions and even ones you didn’t know to ask. I loved that even though this book was based on Josie and Agent Price, I was happy to read that the other characters were just as big in this book as the others.
Definitely give this book a try if you haven't you wont regret it. Fool Me Thrice has so many twist and turns and will leave you wanting more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing read!
Josie had been in protective custody for years because she got away from a killer who had killed many times before. Thats how she got to know Evan who had been assigned to her case from when she was nine. He was a good FBI agent, thorough, smart and determined to keep her safe. Her life was never her own and when things happened she was moved with a new identity. Years passed by and Evan and the team were working hard to find out who was after her but the stalker always seemed to catch up to them. After years of being close to her Evan couldnt help but have feelings for the very brave, beautiful woman that she had become. The story develops into a love story but with serious danger attached. Its a page turner and I will read more by this author she can certainly spin a tale. WOW.
