Gaslight Her: Stonewall Society (The Dark Him Book 1) Kindle Edition
Her name is Hadley
I watch her move around my fellow Elites, a snake in the grass.
I always had an appreciation for snakes. They way they glide, slither, hiss with venom.
She is venom.
But she's not as discreet in her mission as she might think.
As Dash Eaton, a f*cking leader of this society, I have eyes and ears in every dark corner.
I know her plans. To destroy us.
Cute. It feeds my interest in her. My addiction.
Don't blame me for what I will do to her. Destroy her as she planned to destroy us.
Blame her poor choices, not me.
But pity her... for she is, and always will be, mine.
Hadley
Life in Stonewall isn't the same for everyone.
You'd think after the world ended, and we--the lucky ones--were saved by a dome that protects us from the toxic air, that maybe we would have learned... something, anything.
Of course not.
We live in three factions, ruled over by the Elites.
I'm not one of them. But I'm infiltrating. I'm in their midst...
And I'm going to bring them down, even if it means tearing down this entire dome with them.
Gaslight Her is a tale of all things dark and wrong.

About the author

QUINN BLACKBIRD is a world wanderer, a caffeine addict, a concern to her teachers when growing up, & not the password child.
You can find Quinn buying gym equipment she never uses or being dragged out of the writing cave by pesky friends.
Mention "margarita" and she'll come ah-runnin.
QB's absolute life goal is to live on a farm with rescued animals and write!
Now beware!! Blackbird's books are for the darker, the grittier, the anti-heroes, the messed-up characters, and the dark worlds you love her for. It's not a guarantee you'll find redemption in her pages. Because, as Gaslight Her warns, 'sometimes, the villains win.'
QUINN BLACKBIRD has released BEST-SELLING works including all the DARK FAE stories and WINTER PLAGUE!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2024That phrase I so frequently see in books: “she released a breath she didn’t realize she was holding”? Yeah. I get it now. As I just finished the book, I did just that. 😮💨
The tension this story creates builds inside you just as it does for the character. There is a lot of internal monologue (which I normally don’t like and skim over), but it was necessary to really flesh out the character’s mind and for us to be able to believe the shift that comes. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it wasn’t the first book I’ve read with this type of plot. However, the way it was done was excellent as I felt just as confused as the character and enjoyed figuring out pieces alongside her.
The quick POV from him was done great too. I usually eye roll every time I see a male’s POV especially in thrillers. It’s usually just perverse nonsense, but his was tastefully done and believable. It fit with his psychological condition for me (I totally diagnosed him while reading 😂)
Besides the few spelling errors (it baffles me people get hung up on this), it didn’t deter from the story unless you’re OCD. 🤷♀️
In the end, it didn’t end on a traditional HEA, but more so a “to be interpreted” ending which gave it a thrill on its own. I personally like when authors don’t wrap everything in a nice little bow after such dark things occur. Groveling doesn’t exist for a psychopath. 🥲
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2023I give this review 4.5 stars ⭐️ Interesting fast read. Dash is a total psychopath, in his messed up version of love. This story is not your typical villain with deep down good traits that are redeemable, oh no no no he’s definitely not redeemable, but unfortunately for Hadley she’ll actually never know. I want give details of why, because you should definitely give this a read. I truly do mean this is not your typical male villain to be redeemed, but gets exactly what he wants and Hadley is what he wants even though it’s totally sick what he did.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2023I can count on Quinn to make me want more just after I read her books. This was so dark! One of her darkest. This hero wasn’t an anti-hero. He is pure villain. Well done Quinn! Please write more
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2024I really loved the premise of this book. It was interesting, and I was excited to dive in. My only hangup was that there was a lot of unnecessary descriptions that lagged on and on and on, and I wanted a bit more action. Unfortunately even some of the scenes that had action went on a lot longer than they needed to. I did love the storyline.
I would’ve liked more emphasis on the relationships and the dialogue between the characters versus what the scenery look like and then repeating what the scenery is
I love the ending, but I felt like it could’ve been done a little bit bit better. The chemistry was good
Heat low
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2022Dash is definitely a villain whose obsession for Hadley will not be ignored! And I loved it! I love Blackbird stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2023I read this is a night... a late one.
This reminded me, now that I think about it, of movie Enough. Except the crazy guy won.
I love Quinns books. She really takes you to the dystopian world, and makes you have to re-think as you read like your apart of that world to understand the stories better.
As I really enjoyed the read, I was going to get book 2 and realized 1. wasnt released yet, 2. This was a standalone. hm, darn.
I wanted more to the world. more info on the characters. More hook-line-sink me into this world. Even though I was waiting for it, it didn't stop me from reading it like a madwoman.
The story is really good without it. Just a sit down and read between series type.
Quinn has become a must read author for me.
I'm glad I read it. It was good. And now I wish there were more for that, he gets redeemed, even if it's a dark redeem, and they hate to love each other type.
But, careful what you wish for. Because as much as I love my dark romances, I've sometimes wondered what would happen if the bad won out in the end....
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2023Always an experience reading Quinn's books. She is a master at her craft, polished, seamless, and passionate. I have yet to be disappointed by any of her works.
This one is truly chilling. A "wow... I didn't see that coming at all" page turner. Quinn writes dark themed romance with the emphasis on 'dark' and "Gaslight Her" is a twisted tale told without so much as a campfire to warn of the outrageous yet disturbingly true-to-life nature of such abuse. Ambient abusers seek to alter the perceptions of the victim. Causing them to question their reality until there is nothing left of the person they once were. It is considered by some to be the deadliest form of mental abuse. So be careful of the triggers and brace for impact! You won't be able to forget this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2024Overall very meh. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It was interesting enough to want to find out what was going on but still very lack luster. I was not expecting a dystopian type world so I guess that was interesting. But it’s very much just a keep the pretty bird in the pretty cage, with no other plot but I also don’t feel like there was much character development either. Just a whole lotta words on a page. 😅 this is very much a villain gets what he wants with no compromise situation except we don’t get a villain POV so again just very lack luster. There were many times I felt like I was at the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen and then it just never did. 🤷🏻♀️ jury is still out on if I’ll read book 2 or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very unexpected in a good way
I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS. MY GOODNESS. This is probably one of my best reads of the year.
I really liked the world building and how the author explains the different social classes. However, I felt as if the story could have happened in the modern world, and while I loved the dystopian society (like I just said), I don't know if it was necessary.*
The FMC was strong and independent and actually likable and relatable. idk and Dash... you freaking psychopath, no redeeming qualities whatsoever (HE HAS EXTREMELY LONG LASHES WE GET IT). The only thing I will say is that I really wasn't expecting the ending and I'm actually shocked it ended that way. Nonetheless, I was hooked until the end. 4,75/5
*when I say it wasn't necessary, I feel like it didn't add anything to the story HOWEVER, I would have LOVED to have maybe a sequel to this book (it's a standalone 😕) or just another story set in the same type of society but with a bigger focus on the issues within it. For example they talk about the tunnels and the rebels but for a few moments or just how the FMC wants to destroy the elite but we stray away from this focal point (for obvious reasons) but it could have been so much more (gave me vibes of Red Queen actually. Anyways I'm talking too much).
Bonus :
Also I think the mc is black because she said her hair had kinks rather than curls and she also said the word "locks"... Even if she isn't I'll still picture her that way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark
Do read the author's warning. This book contains non consensual themes. Great work as always, fast paced with a dark happy for now ending. The FMC had a spine and the MMC was deliciously dark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge Trigger warning on this one! But her best one yet.
I am a big fan of Blackbirds, but please read her trigger warnings carefully especially on this one.
Dash is a hardcore villain and there definitely is nothing good about him. This whole book was super gripping and after reading it In one sitting I was left absolutely speechless about the ending. I can’t waiting for the next.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4⭐️
So … I ❤️ Quinn Blackbird’s dark fae books. I also love dystopian and secret society books so this was sure to be right up my alley.
It was nothing I expected, and better in every way 😈.
