Ruth Baker loves hearing and telling stories! She never took her writing seriously until one of her teachers told her she had 'something' and not to waste it. She loves female characters who are sassy, intelligent and think outside the box. She has a sweet tooth and you might see an expression of her indulgences in some of her stories.

She's happy to be a part of the CleanTales Publishing team and can't wait to share her stories with you.

She's currently working on the Ivy Creek Mystery series and she hopes you'll join her to discover how the protagonist in the series, Lucy Hale, helps to solve murder mysteries in her small town. It's going to be a fun ride!

A great cozy mystery. I had hard time putting it down until I finished reading it. Recommend it for sure

I enjoy books by Ruth Baker and I was happy that she had a new series. Carol, the main character, is being framed for a recent murder and she decided to find out who it is behind it. Characters Sarah Jean and Fiona are my favorite other characters, and I enjoyed how each of them fit into the plot. A fun part happens at the end when Carol adopts a cat. I suspect the cat will play a big part in the next book and I think pets are interesting additions to any cozy.

I’m looking forward the next book in the series.

Having lost her husband, Carol Riddick moves to Whispering Haven, a seemingly peaceful, picturesque, coastal town, hoping to make a new start in a place where in many ways time seems to have stood still. As she settles in, she finds herself becoming passionate about photography and gardening, two interests that land her in hot water and under suspicion for murder. This is a promising new series from the author of the Ivy Creek series, which I really enjoyed. Carol is finding her way as a widow and learning to handle new and totally unexpected situations. As a mystery fan, I am interested to find out more about her, the friends she is making and the small town she now calls home. This is my honest opinion of an ARC I received from the author.

Great start to a new series! Carol moves to the small town of Whispering Haven after being widowed. She continues her hobbies of photography and gardening, and meets her neighbors, soon to be married. They ask her to be the photographer for their wedding, where a disgruntled businessman is found murdered! Unfortunately, Carol is blamed for the murder. She decides to investigate to clear her name and discovers that this town has a few secrets! This was a free book, which really enjoyed. Get it while it’s still free!

Seems I've read this before - widow relocates after husband's death/abandonment/betrayal, finds a new hobby/new job/opens a bookstore, stumbles upon a murder, is accused of the murder, and must clear her name. Oh, and identify the real murderer. The story was OK, the main character has the obligatory BFF who loves her unconditionally, and she immediately feels at home in her new place of residence. There is nothing wrong with the story; it just seemed as though I had read it all before. That said, I am willing to give the second book a try. Often in a new series it takes a while for the author to warm to her characters. I'm hoping this is the case here, and that the series will improve.

Free book, free review. This is a good start to a new series. Carol is a widow that is finding a new town and new friends. She is utilizing her old hobbies and passions to settle in. Then things happen and she needs to clear her name before it's too late. This new series has the potential to be really good. Get your copy now and see what happens. I can't wait to see what happens in the next story.
