- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2017Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseI got a non-finance job at a finance company and looking to make a move into a finance role. I had no prior experience and just wading in with very basic knowledge I've accumulated from reading investing books from my local library. This book was suggested to me by a mentor and I'm so glad he did! Book has 9 chapters solely devoted to background to help you build a sold understanding of the fixed income securities sector of the finance world. Currently on chapter 3 and less intimidating than I thought I'd be, especially since it's a 1,700+ page tome! Can't wait to wow my future managers with my new-found knowledge! Wish me luck on my promotion!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2012Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseFrankly, I wasn't impressed with previous editions of this book. I thought they were too technical, didn't cover a topic in enough detail, or didn't go deeply enough into structured finance and the exotic product boom of 2002-2012 (CDOs, ABS, CDS, etc.).
This current version overcomes those problems and is an excellent survey/intermediate-level text (the best on the market I've seen). It starts from simpler and more basic FI products and quickly goes into more detailed and esoteric ones. The balance between the high-level picture and detail is good. For more detail and advanced math/modelling, you will have to buy more specialized books (say on credit derivatives/KMV models or asset-backed securities modeling). I will be spending much time with this book over the next 6 months. I would highly recommend it along with the Tuckman and Bhansali books for advanced readers.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2012Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis is by far Fabozzi's most comprehensive fixed income book. It should satisfy most of your needs. If you own a few other books written by Fabozzi, then this probably won't add much value. He tends to cut and paste sections or even whole chapters across multiple books.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2013Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseCovers a wide breadth of fixed income securities. It will not make you an expert on any one segment, but give a solid start to all fixed income asset segments. This combined with another book on a specific segment would make a great combination.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2018Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseI had the second edition when I was a CFA candidate/graduate, so I thought after 32 years it was time to upgrade.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2013Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis book touches on just about every topic in fixed income analysis. Some of the descriptions of various fixed income securities are more in depth than others - so a little bit of a mixed bag there. While it really needs a whole section on LDI management, overall a pretty helpful and comprehensive fixed income encyclopedia.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2013Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis book is intense, dry, and packed full of excellent info. Try to read this book slowly and gain some amazing insight into the world of fixed income. A must for Finance individuals!

5.0 out of 5 stars Obrigatório para renda fixa!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is certainly the best book on the topic that I have come across
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis is certainly the best book on the topic that I have come across. I would, however, like to comment that the authors are saying that the page numbers have been limited by the binding limit of the book. I would like to point out that this book should be split into three volumes like Wilmott's Quantitative Finance. Then the binding will be perfect and the topics in the book can be properly split up. I completely understand that the cost will rise and so will the price, but it will be a much better production.
