Hate, Rinse, Repeat (A Gamble on Love Mom Com Series Book 3) Kindle Edition
Maisy Moore is not looking forward to the holiday season. As owner of the only hair salon in Gamble, Alaska, she’ll be run off her feet helping her clients get dolled up for Christmas and New Years Eve parties. Parties she’ll never be invited to.
But that’s not the worst of it. As a single mom, she knows she still won’t be able to give her seven-year-old son, Jack, the kind of magical Christmas his classmates get. Telling him how much she loves him will only get a kid that age so far. If only she could give him what he really wants—to know who his dad is.
The last thing Maisy needs is for NHL star Chase Evans to come waltzing back into town like he’s God’s gift to women. But that’s exactly what Chase does.
After a taking a crosscheck from behind, Chase’s season is over. Instead of scoring goals, he’s recovering from shoulder surgery, and according to his mother, there’s no better place to recover than home. Because let’s face it, basking in the glow of local adoration won’t be too bad. There are no fans quite like hometown fans.
The last thing Chase expects is to find Maisy Moore still single. He decides to see if maybe they could rekindle their brief romance that occurred the night of their ten-year high school reunion. But when he tries to talk to her, he discovers Maisy’s feelings of lust have turned to loathing. And he’s determined to find out why.
Will Maisy manage to keep the identity of her son a secret? Will there be a holiday miracle that will reunite two hard-headed lovers? Will the BOGO special on shampoo and conditioner be a hit?
Find out in the deliciously funny and ridiculously romantic final installment of the Love is a Gamble Mom-Com Series.

Dear Chase,
I hate your stupid guts. You’re the nastiest, most conceited, stuck-up son of a corn dog that ever had the misfortune to be born. You suck monkey butts!
There is no reason you can’t walk past me in the hallway and pretend I don’t exist. Yet every, single time you see me, your stupid eyes light up and you scream (!!!), “Maisy Swayzeeeeeee, wassup?” I hate you with every fiber of my being.
I know I wear a body brace, you loser. Scoliosis is no joke. But you don’t have to grab a hold of it and pull me around by it. I swear, if my spine refuses to set straight, I’m going to sue you for everything you have.
Why do you waste your time taunting me? You have everything that I don’t: two parents, good looks, athletic ability, to name a few. Why bother being a jerk to me? Just let me live my pathetic life in peace.
Maisy Moor
I’m full of shame and embarrassment for my younger self. I was so desperate to be liked, I would have done just about anything to feel like I belonged.
I never sent any of the stupid letters I wrote to Chase, and surprise, surprise, he never asked me out. Instead, I finished high school, went to beauty school, and continued to live the boring small-town life I always had.
Chase, on the other hand, got drafted by the Vancouver Ice Dogs straight out of high school and went on to become one of the biggest hockey stars in the league. Or maybe the world. I’m not sure. I don’t follow hockey on account of hating him. And even though he lives thousands of miles from me, I have never been able to get out from under his shadow.
Every time a People magazine comes into the salon, there he is. If he’s not on the cover, he’s between the pages on the arm of some supermodel or
I feel terrible about keeping my son’s dad a secret, I really do. I just can’t lose another part of myself to someone who has already taken so much from me.
Had Chase called the night after we, you know—had he even sent a postcard, I would have told him about Jack. But he didn’t do either of those things. Instead, when he left Gamble the day after our reunion, flew to Los Angeles and reunited with his supermodel ex-girlfriend.
But now, he's back...

About the authors
USA Today Bestselling author Whitney Dineen is a rock star in her own head. While delusional about her singing abilities, there’s been a plethora of validation that she’s a fairly decent author (AMAZING!!!). After winning many writing awards and selling nearly a kabillion books (math may not be her forte, either), she’s decided to let the voices in her head say whatever they want (sorry, Mom). She also won a fourth-place ribbon in a fifth-grade swim meet in backstroke. So, there’s that.
Whitney loves to play with her kids (a.k.a. dazzle them with her amazing flossing abilities), bake stuff, eat stuff, and write books for people who "get" her. She thinks french fries are the perfect food and Mrs. Roper is her spirit animal.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2023I enjoyed this book a lot. I thought it was fun and well written, and I enjoyed the characters and thought everything moved forward smoothly. But a few things bothered me. **Spoiler alert — if chase was so in love with maisy for years, why in the world wouldn’t he have called after their night together? Seems like he would have called if that was true. Also, I think it’s totally believable. even understandable, for a woman to not tell a one night stand about a pregnancy when they obviously have no interest in a relationship (aka never see or hear from them again). I think Maisy was unfairly vilified in the story. Regardless, I did enjoy it and will definitely read the others in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2024Wow, I just finished the book and I’m exhausted, but happy. This is a really well written story of a young woman who gets pregnant. It’s got real emotions, and I swear I could feel exactly what Maisy felt. This story is about wrong choices with plenty of healing. I feel like I am stronger for going through this experience with Maisy, Jack and Chase.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2023This read is one that was difficult to put down. It has tons of moments that will surprise you, make you swoony, make you giddy, make you mad and sad and more. Every page has something that will keep your interest. The banters between Chase and Maisy will make you laugh and feel all giddy at the same time. The confession will leave you all melted inside. They were so adorable to each other before the secret was revealed/discovered. Days after the discovery was the saddest part but at the same time happiest for Jack. But these days didn't last, Chase's anger started to melt as he
discovered more of Maisys background.
The ending will leave you tearing up and feeling all warm inside. This book and the entire series has been amazing reads. Can't wait for more.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2022I love hockey romance, so this was an immediate yes for me. It started out great and alluring, with relatable characters and funny quips. About 1/3 of the way through, personalities shift on a dime and give up. Then, half way through the compelling dialogue gets choppy and short, with not really any much deeper explanation. There’s a hint of another storyline about how he broke her heart and set her up at the high school dance, but then we only get a brief explanation of that. I wanted to love this book, and I did for the first little bit, but ultimately towards the end I lost investment in the characters and was ready to move on.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2024Having read the previous books, I was expecting fun and smiling and that is exactly what I got when reading this book. Definitely one to pick up when you need a lift via laughter and love.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2022This has been a good series. Set in beautiful, but unglamorous Alaska, it features regular families with some famous interactions.
I thought Maisy's story was touching. I knew a "Maisy" once who was my best friend. She was a sweet person, also an "ugly duckling," who turned into a swan. To me she was always beautiful inside and out.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2022I love this series, and I was so happy for the couple at the end of this one, just like the others. Admittedly, I really want a bonus chapter because there is so much more I wish I could read, but I am exceedingly content with what there was. Such a great story for the holidays.

5.0 out of 5 stars The past can cloud the future
Well these two always write a delightfully light hearted book . This one is delightful but is a little more serious, although the humour, witty dialogue and descriptive ways are still present in buddies. Missy a hair dresser with a wonderfully cute son Jack, has recently lost her mother drastically reducing her family to just the two. Jack and herself. 7 years ago she had a romantic entanglement in the back of a car with her long time nemesis, Chase. The father of her child. Due to her abandonment of her own father when young , she keeps the fathers identity a secret! Or does she. Chase a famous hockey player receives a career shattering dirty blow to his shoulder. The injury forced him home, and out of the game. He returns to his parents home with an injured wing and a lot of catching up to do. The story unfolds and no more spoilers as the story is both beautiful, emotionally draining in places and full of both tender and hurtful emotions. It is most definitely well written and carry’s the reader it a magical escaping realm. Where the fun of inter relationships and battles of family and loved ones abound, but also common sense and forgiveness are the winners of the day. Fantastic read as ever.
