4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 6,323 ratings

When Rowan’s Arctic research team pulls a strange object out of the ice in Northern Canada, things start to go wrong…very, very wrong. Rescued by a covert, black ops team, she finds herself in the powerful arms of a man with scary gold eyes. A man who vows to do everything and anything to protect her…

Dr. Rowan Schafer has learned it’s best to do things herself and not depend on anyone else. Her cold, academic parents taught her that lesson. She loves the challenge of running a research base, until the day her scientists discover the object in a retreating glacier. Under attack, Rowan finds herself fighting to survive…until the mysterious Team 52 arrives.

Former special forces Marine Lachlan Hunter’s military career ended in blood and screams, until he was recruited to lead a special team. A team tasked with a top-secret mission—to secure and safeguard pieces of powerful ancient technology. Married to his job, he’s done too much and seen too much to risk inflicting his demons on a woman. But when his team arrives in the Arctic, he uncovers both an unexplained artifact, and a young girl from his past, now all grown up. A woman who ignites emotions inside him like never before.

But as Team 52 heads back to their base in Nevada, other hostile forces are after the artifact. Rowan finds herself under attack, and as the bullets fly, Lachlan vows to protect her at all costs. But in the face of danger like they’ve never seen before, will it be enough to keep her alive.

Includes a preview of Mission: Her Rescue (Team 52 #2)

I love Anna Hackett's books because they are full of action, smart, brave women, and awesome alpha men. The romance is pretty wonderful too!

This series follows a group of soldiers that look for ancient artifacts that end up creating havoc around the world. This book follows Lachlan and Rowan, childhood friend who met again when Lachlan was called in to save her and her team, who were uncovering artifacts that ended up making people hulkish, and not in a good way.

I have read every book in this series and i love the team camaraderie and especially, I love how well rounded and imaginative the stories are. Don't get me wrong- each story has a "formula"- the couple meet (or are team members), slowly fall for each other, face what seems like an unsurmountable obstacle (or get caught by the bad guys), have to get away and then win the day. But the thing that makes these stories amazing is really how fantastically imaginative the supporting story is and how, even though I know an HEA is awaiting me, I still get nervous when they get caught, mostly because I love the characters so much!

I listened to the audiobook of the box set (first 3 books) for my second read of this series and it is well worth the credit. Stella Bloom is awesome- I love her. I wish that the books were done were a dual narration (as her more current books tend to be) but if you're going to have a narrator play a range of male and female voices, Stella Bloom is an amazing choice. Great way to live through these wonderful stories!

Mission: Her Protection is the first book in a promising new series by author Anna Hackett. This particular series takes place in her Treasure Hunter Security universe, and focuses on Team 52, a special forces type team that is charged with recovering rare items of unusual power discovered by archeologists around the world in order to keep them off the black market and the hands of the bad guys. This installment is the story of Lachlan Hunter, the leader of the squad, who reunites with his long lost childhood friend, Dr. Rowan Schafer, who has the misfortune of finding one very powerful item with catastrophic consequences. The book has lots of action and with some emotional turmoil mixed in, mostly due to the fact that Dr. Schafer seems to have an uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time...all the time. And this is where the book went from a 5 star to a 4 star for me. I found that while the story was interesting, Rowan's constant damsel in distress status got somewhat repetitive. For someone supposedly so intelligent, she seems to have no common sense when it comes to her actual ability to help vs. getting in the way by insisting on participating in situations she is not equipped to handle. Regardless of this significant flaw in the heroine, the book itself was entertaining and the series has plenty of other characters with promising stories. Fans of Anna Hackett will undoubtedly like the book. Fans of action romance should give it a shot. Ms. Hackett is an excellent writer and I have found all her various series to be entertaining and worth the read/purchase. I am particularly fond of her Hell Squad, Galactic Gladiators, and Phoenix Adventures series.

Mission: Her Protection was one heck of a start to a series! Crammed full of action, adventure, and a smoldering relationship I was sucked in from the very first chapter. Anna Hackett is a master at fast paced romantic suspense and I hated putting this book down for even a second. I was intrigued by Team 52 when we caught glimpses of them in the Treasure Hunter Security series and I was not disappointed. The action barely lets up the whole way through and this kept me reading to find out what was going to happen next. We also meet the Team 52 team and I was fascinated, intrigued, and if I'm being honest, mildly obsessed with each new character. These are men and women who have lived hard lives and most have a dark past but they're dedicated to protecting the world.

Rowan and Lachlan haven't seen each other in a long time but they have a history. As children they each wanted to escape their poor home environment and found a connection with each other. That connection lasts through time and when they meet again it brings them closer. The chemistry was immediate and on fire between these two though it's certainly a good dose of insta-love I didn't mind at all.

Rowan was smart, brave, and refused to give up no matter what happened. She was also a bit of a trouble magnet which drives Lachlan up the wall. While I don't necessarily think Rowan getting involved in the fighting was the best choice, I can't deny deny she holds her own with Team 52. With a deadly group of treasure hunters after the artifact, Lachlan has no choice but to keep Rowan close if he wants to keep her safe. Though he plays the cold and walled off leader, Lachlan is full of honor and loyalty to his people and to those he cares about. He thinks Rowan deserves someone better than him but he also can't stay away from the first woman who's ever touched his heart. I loved watching Lachlan soften and show a more vulnerable side to his gruff exterior. Rowan in turn finds an acceptance that was lacking from her parents.

I can't wait to read more in the Team 52 series because I loved every one of these characters!

I’m a huge fan of this author and love all of her series, which are extremely diverse I have to say. She just can’t write anything bad in my experience.

This series (now complete) is no different. We meet all the members of Team 52 here and learn what their purpose is and why they exist. We also get a feel for where this series will go, it’s action packed, slightly paranormal, full of hot Alpha males and women who will not be walked all over and a rip roaring read from page 1 right to the end.

Dive in and be prepared to lose hours as you try to convince yourself you will stop “at the end of this chapter” (spoiler alert...you won’t!!)

New author for me and I am in my happy place. Fast paced and a good story. The best part, it's a series. They can be read alone because each story is wrapped up,at the end. However, I recommend the series because you're introduced to the other characters. Looking forward to the next in the series.
