His Human Slave

Seriously, if you wanna give a book a shot, ill suggest this one.

It’s a fun idea, and obviously a lot of people must like it because there’s a whole series … but I hated it. Anyone who’s ever read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix understands the overwhelming, furious rage that one line in a book can cause, and I felt that every time I read the word “fleck”. At least in Harry Potter the rage was from good writing. In this book it was because it was so ridiculously obnoxious that I just replaced it with the actual swear because I could not make it through the book if I read it one more time.

The positives are that, I think it’s a good idea and there’s definitely some originality in certain aspects of the premise. I just think the writing is bad. It’s also guilty of what I call the have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too problem. The author wanted to create an actual master-slave situation, but made sure to make sure that it wasn’t TOO master-slave-y. Either set up a consensual BDSM scenario or don’t. One or the other. Drives me nuts.

Sex moments are hot but the slapping Lamira’s face and rape after meeting Zander the first time not so much. I admit I’ve read my share of intense and sex violence against women that somehow is warped into some kind of kink to erotic or dark bully romance stories. I admit the spanking is kinda a turn on but not the caning not a fan to read something that disturbing.
