Heart of Hope: A Small Town Romance Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 19,095 ratings

“Why would a professional hockey player fly out here, seduce me, and then vanish again?”

I can’t believe I fell for a liar. I was an idiot. A blinded-by-lust, hopeful idiot who threw myself into bed with a sexy stranger, invited him to dinner with my entire family, and then woke up alone to a note.

I hope you can forgive me for lying.

Ha. Like that’s ever going to happen. If Beau French or Evanko or whatever the hell his name is ever shows his hot, bearded face in this town again, I’ll make sure he regrets it. To be fair, I practically threw myself at his crotch. And okay, fine. Getting naked with him was the first time I’d felt anything worth feeling since losing my little sister. It’s almost kinda nice to be fueled by the fires of rage instead of the numbness of grief. But I’m certainly not going to thank him for lying and then sneaking out of my bed like a thief in the midafternoon.

Thankfully, I have my older sister’s Christmas wedding to distract me. There’s no way he’d show his face there. Besides, there’s no excuse good enough to make me forgive him.

I want to start with I love this author, and I love her writting style and character building. This book I felt was way different than her Typical. A little more Bittersweet, than her typical but oh so good.

I cried, in the PROLOGUE and at least two more times through this book. It hits you in all the feels,

This book follows a family, a sister who is working through the grief after loosing a key person in there life. Learning how to live after loss is something most of us know or will experience at some point in our lives.

When a Beau “A yoga instructor” comes to town Bristol attempts to resist, but falls for him, but is he who he says he is. He is charming and everyone in this small town welcomes him but do we really know why he is in town, do we really know who he is.

its a Bittersweet, journey though the pages, one I can never do for the first time again. This is truly one book that will hold a place within my mind and heart for eternity.

This wasn’t Lucy Score’s best book. I would give it more of a 3.5. It was pretty cheesy, more hallmark movie/lifetime plot than anything but easy enough to get through. I will say, I appreciated that none of the characters were grumpy that had to be won over with a sunshiny character. The main characters were equally cheery, but overall just okay.

Their story truly was one of Hope. A tragic event lead to some major healing as they realized how many people they helped in the long run.

It truly was a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. I did feel like bristol was a bit too stubborn in the forgiveness department. I get she was upset about the lie. But the lie wasn't that big in the grand scheme of things and she would have done the same to protect her family.

I am curious about the other books around Hope Falls by other authors. Perhaps I will explore them a bit too. 💙

This is one of several pleasant small town romance novels written by Lucy Score. I guess I’ve read enough of them now that this one just feels very formulaic. I was doing okay with it until about 75% of the way in when the inevitable complication occurs to disrupt the romance between the H/h, in this case Beau and Bristol.

I understand that all romance novels follow pretty much the same formula. The only difference is the journey and how believable the details of the formula are. I was rocking along, enjoying the feel-good, small town romance despite the “big secret” concealed by one of the two main characters. First, the “big secret” was unnecessary for as long as it was held and second, the other MC’s reaction was, in my opinion over the top with the hurt feelings and sense of betrayal carried on too long. I became very impatient with both main characters.

Unfortunately, the last several of this author’s works have for me, just fallen flat. I think I need to give Lucy Score’s books a rest.

Blazed through this story in just a couple hours and loved it all. Cinderella and Cinderfella all in one. Without the evil family parts.

A family and a town that so many of us dream of having in our lives.
