This was a book that checked all the boxes: excellent writing, great plotline, strong characters and the ability to see into their thoughts and emotions without getting bogged down in all the inner dialogue. Decker may have been a bit starstruck with Laynee's celebrity status, but that was quickly squashed when they clashed at their first meeting. There was no insta love here; we actually got to see the romance unfold and watch them fall in love. The sexual tension was off the charts and when they got together, well.....it was HAWT!
Decker is broke, has just lost his job and is about to be homeless. An acquaintance throws him a life raft and tells him about Infidelity. He could become a paid companion for a one year period; with an expectation of sex and where monogamy is required. Decker envisions having to be with a flabby, old lady, but hey, desperate men do desperate things. Imagine his surprise when his companion turns out to be a gorgeous Hollywood starlet.
I'm not going to give away anymore of the story because I think it's best to just "dive in" and experience it as it unfolds. However, I will say, for me, Decker was the star of the story. He was a man who carried a heavy burden of debt and guilt and had difficulty seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He was a bad boy who loved the thrill of the chase, but never slept with the same woman twice and he certainly didn't do relationships. Watching this sexy beast of an alpha MAN transition into a mutually beneficial committed relationship was absolutely delicious. I have no idea how the author pulled it off but she took a sexy, passionate, dominant, no holds barred, alpha and turned him into a romantic, loving and caring man in a "Decker is a savage" sort of way. And let me tell you, not only did it work, but it was sexy as h€ll and made me love him all the more.
Laynee may be Hollywood royalty but her public persona and private life couldn't be farther apart. She is a woman who harbors many secrets. Ultimately, this is what drives her to seek the services of Infidelity. She ordered up a nice submissive man who would take orders and ask no questions. What she got was Decker; he may not be what she ordered, but he was exactly what she needed. Watching the push and pull, give and take and the way they "negotiated" for the things the things that wanted was mouthwatering.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I had two problems with the story. First, Decker had a scandalous past and he's dating a Hollywood superstar 12 years his senior. It states several times that a simple internet search of his name would reveal the scandal that tarnished his name, yet not a single pushy paparazzi "checked out" who her new mystery man was? My second problem was towards the end; Decker decided to do something for Laynee, to "prove his love". Now, I can't tell you what it was, because it would spoil everything, but, I was definitely thinking.....Noooo! Don't let him do it!!!!! Now, I totally understand why Decker did what he did and his motivation was a gesture of his love for Laynee, but........ No......just no! And when Laynee Let him do it? Well, it just kind of left me with a bad taste. Did it completely ruin the story for me....... No. The epilogue made up for that and provided an ending that totally worked for them. Despite my quibbles, I absolutely loved this, devoured every single page and would totally recommend it.........d:)
