- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2024I enjoyed reading this book. This story grabbed and held my attention. I found the characters and plot to be interesting and I will be looking for more books by this author. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2024Spellbinding and layered with mystery, Eva Alton's novel "Iris
: The Witch's Blood Spell" is an enchanted and fast paced look into the Moonlight Sonata Paranormal Agency's world.
Iris is very strong willed and determined to find out about her sister and how the world works outside of her sometimes sheltered lifestyle. She is constantly pushing her own boundaries in life and magic and it makes her an exciting protagonist.
I would love a whole other book dedicated to Iris's early life and upbringing around other paranormal persons, which I felt was a little glazed over in this novel.
Instead, we learn about the owner of the Moonlight Sonata Paranormal Agency, Mr. Theodore d’Alessandro. A "touch her and die" male lead is eccentric and dreamy. He is still veiled in mystery and we see a much more vulnerable vampire than most paranormal romance novels and it makes him much more likable, a little human even.
The other members of the agency are also charming, unforgettable and seeing more of their adventures in the upcoming series is something to look forward to.
I would like to see more diversity since the Agency is in Ibiza, Spain. Hopefully there will be more variety in the upcoming series. The culture presented in the novel was a little lacking and it left the impression that Ibiza is strictly a party location, which lended itself to the plot, but nothing more. I had previously read a few of Eva Alton's novels, including but not limited to "Hidden Notes," where the locations and plot worked really well together.
I look forward to reading more about this world and agency. A great start in a new series, Iris will leave you wanting to read more about the characters and world that the Moonlight Sonata Paranormal Agency lives.
Thank you again, to the author for another opportunity to read this novel as I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024The Witch’s Blood Spell is the first book in a new series the Witches of Ibiza by a new to me author Eva Alton. It's a fascinating read about a new witch who doesn’t know how to use or control her powers as a medium. Iris is a medium on a mission to find her sister who disappeared five years earlier. This is an adventure of a story to find herself, how to use her powers and to find her sister. The author's take on this genre is original and the world she has created is awesome! I can't wait to see she takes it next!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2024The Witch’s Blood Spell is a fascinating read about an untrained witch who doesn’t know how to use or control her powers as a medium. As she is challenged and becomes more versed in her art her abilities strengthen. The author creates a believable version of earth with magically talented characters such as vampires, healers, telepaths, telekinetics and those that communicate directly with animals. Iris is a medium on a mission to find her sister who disappeared five years earlier. This is her story. I thank the author for an advance review copy and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it!
I was so upset when the Stray Witch series came to an end! So it was with great excitement, that I picked up Iris. Whilst we don’t meet Clarence and Alba again, we do hear of them. Instead, this story focuses on Iris and Katie (Alba’s daughters). Having met them in the Stray Witch series I was intrigued to catch up with them as adults.
The story is set in Ibiza, which I loved. What a cool setting for a romantic paranormal suspense!
Katie went missing five years ago after a night with a vampire. All these years later, Iris is still hunting for her. Despite being a medium, Iris can’t connect with Katie, so surely she must be alive
We follow Iris as she takes a job at Moonlight Sonata Paranormal Agency in search of clues. Iris struggles to settle into her role and her handsome boss isn’t helping. Theodore D'Alessandro is a vampire whom she cannot risk getting close to.
The story’s pace grows as Iris finds herself out of her depth. Can her magic save her? Will she ever find out what happened to Katie?
Iris: The Witch’s Blood Spell is a gripping paranormal suspense that will whisk you into a world of witches, ghosts, and vampires on the Balearic island of Ibiza. With a feisty female main character and a swoon-worthy vampire love interest, this is a smouldering romance.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Witches of Ibiza series!
*I received an ARC of this book but I’m leaving my honest opinion of my own free will*

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery, intrigue, and a to-die-for slow-burn romance
I absolutely love this romantic, paranormal vampire suspense. It's full of intrigue, mystery, and a to-die-for slow-burn romance. Iris and Teo are fabulous characters who you can't help falling in love with, and the remaining gang of witches is a brilliant supporting cast. I am currently reading for the second time; I devoured the ARC copy and am already an even bigger fan. I adore Alton's writing style, and her world-building, as usual, is spot-on. The plot is unique, and the pace is perfect, along with the twists and turns you don't see coming! Watch out, Hector... Iris and Teo are on to you. Brava, Ms Alton.
