Why stop at learning to do math when you can learn to love math instead?

This book, like others in this series, is built to offer an explorative experience into the world of mathematics. It contains 16 increasingly complex questions around the same mathematical scenario of playing variations of the game of nim. The questions are designed to orient the child in the scenario and to encourage them to challenge the unknown and ask their own questions.

What you need to start enjoying problems in this book:
  • a pen or pencil
  • scrap paper
  • a few minutes of free time
  • a willingness to explore
There is no time limit for these problems. You are welcome to use any calculator. The internet and other people’s mathematical knowledge are also within your allowed tools. You can even change the question if a different one seems more interesting to you, but be sure to record your new questions on the pages provided at the back of the book. In short, anything that helps you explore and understand is encouraged.
