    Got this amazing book cause its Spooky season. It's a modern sexy retelling of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

    Jekyll is working on an experiment for her Majesty's army but the results are failing on animal subjects. The university thinks he needs help (though he refuses to accept) but they send him help anyway in the form of Catherine a cute young woman who loves all things vintage.

    Jekyll soon develops a crush on her but he is shy and nerdy of course (I love that) and the most he does is kiss her. However, when he turns into Hyde he becomes obsessed with her and ravages her body while he pretends to be Jekyll's half-brother. She doesn't want it to happen but she can't help but enjoy it.

    The scene at the gentleman's club takes place between Hyde, Grey, and Count which will occur in all three books through their point of view.

    Jekyll feels bad about what he is doing to Catherine as Hyde and eventually lets her know that they are the same person and even shows her, promising after that he will never do it again. The two get their HEA but she still will long for the passion that Hyde was giving her.

    This is an awesome quick read that can be done in a day or a few hours depending on how fast you read. I recommend it for the spooky season. Please also read the triggers

    An interesting twist on the old story. What if there was a counterpart to the nefarious Mr Hyde, a woman who wants that dark, twisted man to come out, and to do bad things to her? Explosive heat. This was a fun story to pair with my reading of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

    I know the point was to keep it simple and brief, but I think the story needed just a bit more filling in. It was implied that there was a relationship between Jekyll and Catherine, not just attraction but knowledge of one another, that simply wasn’t supported by the narrative. A little detail to show Jekyll as desirable in some way was needed. There was a bit of a tease with the characters in the next books, but that left a loose end with Hyde. Just a couple dozen more pages to make the story feel whole would have bumped a steamy 4 star bad boy story up to a 5 star villain fantasy to melt your garters.

    This is a very short, instalove romance read with a modern take on Jekyll & Hyde. Jekyll is doing laboratory research and experiments on a formula that seems to not be successful with animal studies, so he decides to take the formula himself which causes him to become a manipulating, cunning, more altered version of himself that is determined to have the heroine. The heroine, Catherine is his assistant in the lab and assists with his errands, organizing, etc. She immediately is drawn to the sweetness of Henry (Jekyll) but craves his monster side ( Hyde).

    I’ll admit there is not much plot, it’s not too heavy on descriptions to build the world, which is part of why I took a star off. For some reason, even knowing it’s only meant to be a short quickie read, I still needed a bit more depth, maybe some more descriptions for transition scenes, and what things looked like, I can’t even remember if the Hero had an eye color, he probably did but not much time is spent on those things, because 💯 this is pure smut. I think if you’re looking for something quick to read for the Halloween holiday coming up, and you don’t put too much focus on if there’s a story or any depth to the characters, then dive in and you won’t be disappointed.

    However, it still entertained me and I love monster stories, especially when the H has dual personalities in the story (like Jekyll & Hyde), or has two sides to him. It’s an intriguing concept and a classic science fiction monster story, so I’m going to give it it’s due for keeping my attention until the end ♥️

    If you’re wanting true chemistry and depth in dialogue and character build, you may not find much time given to those concepts here. I felt like I truly loved the story because of the Jekyll/Hyde concept (who doesn’t love a good monster/science fiction rom story?) and I enjoyed it as a quick read but I didn’t know much about the hero and heroine like I wanted, and at times it does feel rushed.

    Outside of those minor discrepancies, (and this is truly on me because I’m 50/50 on instaL) this was a quick entertaining, smutty read perfect to pass the time on a fall day with Halloween right around the corner. 🧪 👺 🧬 🔥 💥

    No OW/OM drama, no sharing/ménage, no pregnancy, no de@th, (that I recall) no violence (which was surprising, other than H tearing his chains off at one point, having a few outbursts and him being a bit rough during 💦 🛏️, he never once really hurt anyone from what I remember. There’s a side plot about Hyde selling drug$ to another male character featured in the story, but that plot goes nowhere, unless that was done on purpose and that little subplot will pop up in that MMC’s own story later within this series.

    A important testing needs to take place and J has no time to entertain a spy the school board
    sent. In a rush and out of time the good Dr does the unthinkable.
    Now I'm sure I'm not the only one be dreaming of tall dark and sexy doing things those unmentionable but desireab!e things we crave but never talk about. Enters Mr H.

    1st, I love Zoe Blake. Everything she's ever written.

    This book was full-on creepy, and the atmosphere of the book was amazing. This take on the Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde was so different. I love books where someone takes the theme of another book, reworks it, and makes it their own. And Zoe did this in spades!

    I don't want to ruin the book for anyone that hasn't read it. But if you like dark creepy monsters, this is the book for you!

    If I could give it more stars, I would!

    This short book packs a lot of punch! Set in modern day, it has historical feels to it, and I just loved the references to Jack the Ripper! I adored this interpretation of Jekyll and Hyde. In this book, we also meet Dorian Gray and the Count, who are the main characters of other two books in this series, each written by a different author. I can’t wait to check them out!
    I do wish this book had been longer. It was over too quickly, and for a book with such a unique premise, I wanted a bit more depth.
