JJ St: A Tribute is a heartfelt photo-illustrated prose poem about the tender reunion of two women work friends after almost three decades apart. The author and award-winning photographer, Meri Aaron Walker, used only her iPhone to capture her amazement at the wild creativity of her old friend’s current life in the desert. With mobile photographs and a few well-chosen words, Meri Walker mirrors back to her friend the extraordinary beauty of her home and her deep appreciation of the simple life her friend has fashioned for her third act of life. A first edition was published in 2022 using the mobile app, Steller. This second edition, published in July, 2024, has been recompiled using Book Creator on a MacBookPro using screen shots made with an iPhone13Pro and edited lightly using Photomator to increase their clarity and resolution.

A tribute and invitation to authentic living
This book is a tribute in so many ways: to friendship, to living a creative life, to simplicity, to intentionality, to the desert. Meri uses a journal-like format and picture-within-picture technique for an intimate, vibrant portrait of place, personality, and the idea of a meaningful life. Meri’s friend JJ St, although never pictured, is vividly imagined through Meri’s words and images of her friend’s desert home. Thank you Meri and JJ for inviting us in!
