The Heartbeats - 'It’s cool to be kind' is a series of children's books based around the Heartbeat family and the town of Heartsville, created to educate children that being kind is cool, a strength not a weakness! The stories tell how acts of kindness are strong, respected behaviour, with infinite benefits to our wellbeing, ultimately making us all happier and healthier. The Heartbeats and their motto 'It’s cool to be kind’ are helping children around the world understand and live with the joys of kindness. The series is aimed at preschool children helping to install a culture of kindness until it becomes a spontaneous way of life for the next generation. Children are agents for social change and they are the future.


The fundamental ages for PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional development) are 0-6 years old. The Heartbeats are designed to appeal to this critically important age group and they prove to be surpassing expectation in doing this. Join the Heartbeats family in using these books to teach the importance of inclusion, acceptance, love, friendship, tolerance in a fun and enjoyable way. The stories encompass all aspects of kindness, towards others, ourselves and the planet. Once children begin living and breathing this behaviour we will see a profoundly positive effect on the environment the children are growing into by tackling the epidemic of anti social behaviour that is affecting children’s physical and mental health.

My name is Natalie Savvides. I’m a mother to two young children living between Milan and London. I am of mixed British, Italian, and Greek heritage, and I grew up in North London. Ever since I received a kindness and generosity award in my early years at school, I have made it my mission to spread these values. After graduating in Modern Languages, I went on to work in different fields in both the UK and abroad, including several years teaching English overseas.

I have always loved writing and drawing and since having my children, I have dedicated my time to writing professionally. When I am not writing, I am involved in children’s and kindness charities, and most recently, have joined the UNESCO Kindness Advisory Council as a Kindness Advisor for the #KindnessMatters Global Campaign.

The Heartbeats

Following the birth of my two children, I felt a passion for writing children's books in an attempt to make the world a better place for them to grow up in. I created two fun, loving, colourful characters, Henry & Henrietta Heartbeat who live life in a positive, cheerful way, spreading the message of kindness wherever they go! The idea is to educate children at the earliest stage, about the importance of kindness and love towards each other, in the hope that it simply becomes a way of life - making the world a happier place.
