The Kinfire Tree (Lore of Arcana Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 6 ratings

Kin is Everything

We return to the Land of Skies. One battle is already behind the team, the disastrous events upon Ardosia; time now to concentrate on the stability of Valaris, or the same fate awaits her.

Hidden from humankind are fourteen sacred Valleur sites, built upon nodes of power. Vannis Valla advocates unveiling them to restore balance to the earth, which will aid in the fight against Margus. The Darak Or has other ideas, and unleashes his soltakin …

In the north, Averroes discovers her true past and she and Kylan run the Maze gauntlet. Kisha, Mordan, Cristi and Samson prepare the clans of old for eternal night. In the south, Vannis, Rayne and Saska, along with the charismatic little Falcon, Phet, move from site to site. Taranis and the Guardians delve arcane ritual in the Dome to find the answers to the ending of soltakin, while expecting Infinity to bring her Darkling Horde into the mix. Meanwhile McSee, unmasked as traitor, meets the crazy Lanto and they hatch a bold plan, involving a pirate and ancient loot.

Rayne begins the internal battle that will change all. It began for him on Ardosia when he touched Vannis only to release blue sparks between them. The ruling house is almost extinct. How, therefore, does a Valla recognise the blood for the future? By the blue flame of trebac. Kinfire. The legendary Vannis is kin, but there is more in store for Rayne than the reality of this profound connection.

The Kinfire Tree has many branches hidden in its foliage, a condition Rayne suspects, a greater truth he must reveal …

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The story is rich in symbolism, sacred places and much magic. A most excellent 5 star read!" - Ken Fry (Goodreads)

From the Author

The Kinfire Tree was an intriguing chapter in the Lore of Arcana series to write, dealing as it does with the complicated relationship between a father and a son. This author needed to draw upon the experience of observation, being neither a father nor a son, but I believe I reached into the souls of my characters and the emotion thus comes across.

Also, Kinfire deals with reincarnation, and this is ever a controversial subject, but this is epic fantasy and we may thus speculate! Enjoy!

Elaina lives in magical Ireland after leaving the surrounds of magnificent Table Mountain at the southern tip of Africa. Having lived in both Ireland and New Zealand, she now realises Ireland’s mists are close to perfection. When writing she puts into words her travels and dreams, because she believes there is inspiration in even the most outrageous tale.

After studying Purchasing Management and working in the formal sector as a buyer, she chose to raise and home-school her three children. She started writing novels around 2002, moving from children’s stories, poetry and short stories to concentrate on larger works.

While her main body of work has been her Fantasy Series (Lore of Arcana, Lore of Reaume and Lore of Sanctum), she is a diverse writer and her credits include novels and shorter stories in the Contemporary, Humorous, Paranormal, Dystopian, Alternate History and Romantic genres, as well as non-fiction. Several of her books have been translated into Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and German, and many are available in audio also.

Ireland’s ancient past has influenced her writing, gifting her work a Celtic twist, while the majesty of New Zealand has led her to mountaintops and extraordinary vistas. The vibrancy of Africa has had much to do with the inspirational side of Elaina’s work. The colours and diversity of nature itself fires her imagination.

Come with her to places familiar and far, far away!

"The Kinfire Tree," is book two in the epic fantasy series "Lore of Arcana" and full of amazing characters—humans, aliens and immortals, fascinating landscapes, sorcery… everything and anything the imagination of fantasy writers and readers can conjure and more. Whether through public reviews or individual thoughts, I think we measure all epic fantasy tales written today against the all-time great stories of Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones). I admit to such comparisons and can unequivocally state that the "Lore of Arcana" series shows every sign of reaching those lofty plateaus.

Elaina J. Davidson's writing style is unequaled among her peers. A true wordsmith, Davidson brings to life every character. From stars like Rayne, Vannis, or Averroes, to name a few, all the way down the most minor actor, Davidson bring them to life and every single character has a role that is well defined and important to the story. World building is difficult; it has to be developed and delivered to the reader with zero room for error or inconsistency and, here again, Davidson delivers in spades. I'm in awe of Elaina J. Davidson and totally captivated by this series. You will be, too.

THE KINFIRE TREE (Lore of Arcana book 2) by Elaina J. Davidson is the continuation of a breathtaking epic fantasy adventure. Flawlessly written and beautifully imagined, this story, along with its generous cast of unique and intriguing characters, is among the best I have ever read in this genre.

A bit faster paced than the first book in the series, THE INFINITY MANTLE, this tale gives more insight into the individual characters, as well as moving the story along with enough detail and action to keep the reader enthralled from the first page to the last. (Which, I must say, is an accomplishment in itself, considering the length of the novel). Yet, when the end did come, I found myself all ready to jump right into book 3. Lore of Arcana is simply such a superb epic that you never want it to end.

I highly recommend THE KINFIRE TREE to everyone, especially to those who love epic fantasy. Don’t miss out on this mesmerizing tale. Order your copy today and enjoy!

The Kinfire Tree!!What a sensational continuation of The Lore Of Arcana II series!!I had been waiting eagerly for this next installment and WOW was it worth the wait!!!!The story, the characters the adventures,it's riveting from the first to the last page!!Just enough light is shed on some questions pondered in the first book, enough to satisfy but not too much for the adventure is far from over.Rayne,Taranis and Vannis all I can say about them is OMG!!And a big fat WOW!!!!These three have such magnificent stories that it is mind blowing to say the least!!The rest of the characters follow behind them with marvels all their own which makes this a completely well rounded story and if you haven't bonded with them by the end of The Infinity Mantle you will surely be bonded by the end of this book.Once again I tell you that Elaina J Davidson has restored my hope and love for fantasy, she has a total lock on this genre. It takes an EPIC Author to write and EPIC tale such as this and ladies and gentleman I am here to tell you that Elaina is most assuredly an EPIC AUTHOR!!Once again I eagerly await the next installment like a child waiting for Christmas!!

This second book in the series is an excellent read. The story moves right along, with most of the focus on Rayne and his enigmatic past. A lot of tension is hinged upon Rayne's relationship to Taranis, and it is very well managed. The reader never knows if Rayne might be swayed toward the dark.

The missions of the other major characters are equally intriguing, with back stories dished out in just the right proportions. The opening salvos of the soltakin are chilling, the losses are tragic and the inability to defend against these creatures is of paramount concern. Yet there are major acts of heroism all around as regular humans and immortals alike rise to the challenge.

In this second book in the series, the pace has accelerated, and the storytelling is seamless. High quality fantasy from this second book in the series. I could go on about this, but others have already offered lengthy analysis. So let me just urge the reader onward. If you enjoyed the first book in this series, this volume will not disappoint you.
