Kiss Now, Lie Later (Rival Love Book 1) Kindle Edition
One boy. One girl. Two feuding towns.
MAEVE
I've heard a lot of things about Alleghany’s quarterback. Weston Cole is popular, conceited, and arrogant. Most importantly, he’s spent the past three years steadily dismantling my family’s football legacy. I should hate him. And I did. Until I met him freshman year and discovered he’s also complicated. Considerate. Captivating. When our paths cross again senior year, that awareness becomes more dangerous than his suggestive smirk. Hating him was easy…before I knew him.
WESTON
No girl in Glenmont is more untouchable than Maeve Stevens. She lives across enemy lines. Her father is their head football coach. Her twin brother is their quarterback. But one conversation with Maeve makes me forget about the bitter, decades-long rivalry between our two towns. Makes me forget there’s a team of guys relying on me to lead them to another victory. A few forbidden kisses, and there’s only one thing I want to fight for. Her.

Review
"As my first (full) read of 2021 it has set the bar quite high! I have never read a high school romance like this one." -Amazing Reads
"I absolutely loved this young adult, high school romance. If you're looking for a refreshing YA story without too much angst and steam, then I highly recommend this romance. This is the first book that I've read by C.W. Farnsworth and it definitely won't be the last." -But First Let's Read

- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2024I usually don't like reading high school stories. But this one was great. It was tasteful and real life. I loved the rivalry between the two towns. I loved how Maeve took a chances to try something new and out of the norm for her character. Weston's character was great too. This was a great love story and was just right! I loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2024Loved this high school sports school rivalry. Just sweet - and loved how much they liked each other. It was just really good. Wes was amazing and I just really really liked both the characters so much. I would give it a 4 1/2.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2025I’m not always big on high school love stories but this was so well done. I adored Wes and Maeve and how they could open up and be themselves together. I thought the development of them meeting to becoming more was spot on in believability and they worked so well together. This was exactly the story I needed right now!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2023I liked this story but didn’t love it. The concept was so cute and the characters and story were so well done, I just didn’t like the age they were. I think this rating will be deceptive for some so I hope you read it before deciding not to read it. They are in high school and being older now, it just doesn’t feel as deep when it is a younger book. I think it would be perfect for someone who is either younger themselves or needing a break from the more adult books. The spice is 0. There is a fade to black so it’s definitely cleaner than 100% of the books I have been reading recently but was good enough that I didn’t DNF it. I love this authors storytelling so I really didn’t notice how not spicy it was until just now!

Maeve Stephens is the daughter of the high school head football coach and the sister of Liam who is the QB in Glenmont.
Weston Cole is the QB in Alleghany and also Maeve's brothers biggest rival.
They're enemies because of where they live and who they are, but will they find out there is more to life than a town rivalry?
This book is overlooked because its a High school romance, but as someone who grew up in a small town Kiss now lie later is full of sweet moments and funny banter between the main characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2024Very sweet and entertaining romance. modern Romeo and Juliet
I really liked this story, it wasn't very hot but good😜
I liked the development of the characters and it perfectly transmitted all the feelings. I'm going to continue with the next book since they left me with some pending issues.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2023I really loved reading this. I’m not usually a fan of reading teen romance but rather enjoy watching about it, but I had this book on my tbr list so I took a chance. I really loved this one. It was a fresh take on forbidden love trope. I loved that the female was a strong one and the male lead loved and respected that about her. There isn’t much spice, but a little for the romance and it suited the story nicely.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2024Definitely my favorite book by C.W. Farnsworth. The way she makes you fall in love with these characters is 🥹🥹🥹! I wish there were more books like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 5 Star Story! (Spoiler at end of review)
CW Farnsworth has the ability to write a book that you feel like you’re walking along with the characters.
I felt the surroundings. The log they sat on. The fire in the wood stove in the cabin. The bleachers filled with the soccer and football fans.
The author also conveyed the emotions of her characters so well. Not just the main (Maeve and Wes), but her secondary characters (their families and friends) too.
I could envision the two towns with their lives lead by this age old feud and how Maeve and Wes felt drawn to each other, but conflicted by the rivalry that wouldn’t support them. Their love was stronger - thank goodness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Que livro perfeito!

5.0 out of 5 stars As an older reader I would say this is more suited to teenagers. Good read still.
Maeve is a star football player for her high school and Wes is a quarterback playing for a rival school. The two schools never mix and so their story is more like a Romeo and Juliet scenario. They meet each other after a party in another town. It was two years later when they meet again and its the start of a secret romance not only because of the schools rivalry but also her brother is a quarterback player and her father is their coach. When someone makes a play for Maeve, Wes is angry and tells her they are finished. As its all been in secret its a shock when Maeve makes a stand for him at the final game. Enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic NA storytelling
This was recommended in a book group and I loved it. Plenty of NA angst and those heightened emotions of first loves. I loved it
