About the author

Stevie Turner is a British author of romantic suspense, paranormal stories, and women’s fiction family dramas which are sometimes humorous. She is a cancer survivor, and still lives in the same picturesque Suffolk village that she and husband Sam moved to in 1991 with their two boys. Those two boys have now grown, and she and Sam have 5 lovely grandchildren.
One of her short stories, ‘Lifting the Black Dog’, was published in ‘1000 Words or Less Flash Fiction Collection’ (2016). Her screenplay ‘For the Sake of a Child’ won a silver award in the Spring 2017 Depth of Field International Film Festival, and her novel ‘A House Without Windows’ gained interest in 2017 from De Coder Media, an independent film production company based in New York. ‘Finding David’ reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 ScreenCraft Cinematic Short Story Competition. 'Scam!' won first prize in the 2021 Electric Eclectic writing competition, and 'His Ladyship,' reached the finals and Longlist of the 2021 Page Turner Writing Award. 'Falling' reached the finals of the 2022 Page Turner Writing Award, and Stevie's latest manuscript 'Tina's Diary: 1997' reached the finals of the 2023 Page Turner Writing Award. To quote reader Roberta Baden-Powell, 'I'm looking forward to reading your new book, and find your books the best so far. The style you write in has given me a new perspective and a renewed inspiration in reading once again.'

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2024Trio is an intriguing short story collection of three stories all with surprise endings.
The Art Class involves a man who models in the nude for an art class of old women. Mark, the model, finds his life implodes in a way that he never imagined.
The Birthday Party focuses on Billy who is given a surprise 90th birthday party but he turns the surprise back on his family when he makes a shocking announcement.
The Journey takes the reader on a journey through the spirit world much to the surprise of a man who couldn’t comprehend such a thing.
This is a quick and interesting read by this talented author. I have read many books by Stevie Turner and enjoyed them all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting characters and unique situations
Sometimes you just want to read a short story, and these are three very different stories by a talented writer. Who knew that modelling nude for an art class to earn extra money, could change your life? The Art Class is a clever story with a surprise ending. The Birthday Party is an amusing story about family dynamics and what happens when the 90-year-old patriarch makes a surprise announcement. The Journey is a touch of paranormal with a feel-good ending after a dear mother passes on. A nice quick read with interesting characters and unique situations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Short Stories and Life
I always enjoy Turner’s books and stories, and this one didn’t disappoint. In these three very different stories, the author takes us into life-changing, and awareness situations, with a touch of paranormal in the last story.
In the Art Class, Mark takes on a second job to help makes ends meet at home with his girlfriend Marie. He becomes a nude model for an art class. The class is made up of a group of senior women who wish to hone their artistic skills (as well as rather enjoy the eye-candy), except one odd duck male, Paul, who brings a ‘situation’ to Mark’s unremarkable life that will take him into realms he himself never knew he was even interested in.
In The Birthday Party, we get to meet 90 years old Billy and his family who plan his 90th party for him at his retirement home. There, we get to know the characters, as well, we learn there’s always someone evil ready to take advantage of the elderly. Billy’s surprise announcement has heads spinning. But sorry, I can’t share about it or what happens consequently, no spoilers here, but a good read.
The Journey, a sweet paranormal story about a funeral home goodbye of another world. Mother is on display in the viewing room, and a faithful daughter by her side discovers Mum’s spirit is communicating with her.
I always enjoy this author’s books as her stories always encompass the human condition as an underlying theme. In the first story, it’s about discovery and self-realization. In the second story, the vulnerability of seniors having to trust and rely on others, and in the third, makes us wonder if there is more to life in the next world.
