Slow And Steady: A Lake Cliff Adjacent Romance (Boys Of Lake Cliff) Kindle Edition
It doesn't get more complicated than a senior FBI agent falling for the son of a notorious Irish gangster.
That’s exactly what Special Agent Atlas Beesley has done. He’s lived in the friend zone for years and let his career get in the way but Atlas knows Declan’s the one the moment they meet. Unfortunately, Atlas has been charged with monitoring Lake Cliff’s more…interesting residents. Atlas has been ordered to keep a distance and have a light touch but all he can think about is getting his hands on Declan.
He was going to be a priest but Declan Leary realized he couldn’t atone for his father’s and brother’s sins. And he wasn’t all that pious, if he was being honest. Shy and too sensitive, he could never be his father’s son. And Declan wanted nothing to do with his brother, but he has never been able to shake the shame until he arrived in Lake Cliff. He’s ready to start over but is Declan brave enough to confess to having feelings for the agent investigating his family?

Love k.Sterling books would be loss without them in my life
I received an advance copy for review.
It was also nice (bittersweet) to have a scene with Aiden and Keira. 🥹
It’s the story of a slow burn romance between Atlas, an FBI agent who is conflicted in his association with certain members of the Lake Cliff guys, and Declan, the son of a sadistic mobster who feels SO guilty about the deeds of his father and brother that he is about to enter the priesthood. Oh Declan you sweet summer child.
A lot of books in the series have some serious nail-biting-edge-of-your-seat moments. Actually most of them do so it is nice to have a story that is fairly low-angst and still delivers Sterling’s trademark rock solid HEA end. Declan’s character exudes integrity and is pretty much Hallmark Channel-ish sweet. But even with his adolescent-like giddiness over the thought of dating someone like Atlas, his character is believable. We all have known someone like Declan so it is easy to let his story touch our hearts. Oh, and I suppose I should clarify...ain't never nuthin even close to Hallmark Channel in any of Sterling's brilliantly written stories for grownups.
One thing I must mention…and yes I did indeed twirl a tiny bit just now, is I am pretty sure that my favorite character, Aiden, and his sister are going to get up to some mischief soon. I. Can’t. Wait. Oh my, it would be like The Hardy Boys meet Dexter. Yes, please.
