Lilly's Blueprints: A (IVF) Donor Conception Story for Single Moms By Choice Paperback – December 2, 2022
Purchase options and add-ons
“The birds and the bees for the donor-conceived generation.” -Melanie McGee Bianchi/Editor/Bold Life Magazine
Lilly's mommy is an architect, and while walking together to her first day of school, she learns that Mommy helped design one of the houses in the neighborhood.
Upon arriving at school, Lilly meets a boy with a new baby sister and learns that babies come from mommies and daddies.
Lilly begins to wonder about how she was made without a daddy and rushes home after school to find out the answer.
Together, Lilly and Mommy explore what it means to be donor-conceived and how generosity and genetics combined to create a home built not just by an architect, but by love.
This book is for single moms by choice who have used their own egg + a sperm donor via IVF.
---
A perfect companion to guide parents and children through joyous discussions of their unique genetic stories.”
-Dr. Hutton M. Kearney Hereditary Genomics / Mayo Clinic
“With gentleness, meatphor, lyricism and love, Sharon Leya explains the complex concept of donor conception, genetics and pregnancy so that a child can learn, appreciate, and love how they came to be. This is an important tale, gracefully told.” -Jeffrey Kluger, best-selling co-author of “Apollo 13” and the new novel “Holdout”

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2023Make it a point to buy banned books. It was well written and appropriate for First Grade reading level or bedtime story.

4.0 out of 5 stars It’s more suited for primary school children
This book is more suited for primary school children in my opinion. Wished it comes with this recommendation before I buy it. I wanted help explaining to my child about my journey but the book has so many words, even I struggled to stay interested. It’ll be there until they want to read it. The story is ok, a bit different to use architecture as metaphor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Science based, but American spellings
My girl is too young at the moment to really tell but it looks good and well presented. But note spellings are American not British so has color not colour and mommy for mummy.
