Late Nights & Love Lines (Single Dad Hotline Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 959 ratings

The job was simple. Answer the phone, solve the single dad’s dilemma, and move on.

I’m the temporary solution.

The fill-in.

The short-term Single Dad Hotline Helper until a more suitable one can be found.

I don’t get attached, I don’t stick around, and I certainly don’t fall for the single dad.

Until the job said, “Hold my beer,” and tipped my world upside down.

Suddenly my past and present are colliding to create a future I didn’t ask for. One I’m not even sure I want. One I know I’m not cut out for. A live-in nanny for my childhood crush?

Yeah, no thanks!

But when Sebastian Walker reenters my life with three children full of sadness that I feel in my soul, how can I turn them away?

He takes my superstitions and runaway tendencies in stride while claiming my days. But before I know it, he’s demanding my nights too.

When it’s his touch that soothes the fears inside me, what’s a girl to do?

This is everything a summer romance book should be! A second chance of sorts, 3 children who need love and stability, a single dad finding his childhood friend is his nanny, a woman who has been running from her past and from love most of her life. Add in a meddling small town full of found family and this is an all-around great story!

Sebastion and Rowan were friends as kids when they were both at the same camp. Sebastion was always on her side, offering her the special love only kids have. Rowan’s life was upended when she was 10 and her father died. When her mother remarried, her new stepfather hated her and made her life miserable. As soon as she was old enough, she left home and has been running ever since.

Avery Maxwell has brought together two hurting people who need each other even if one of them fights the need and chemistry. The depth of character is beautifully crafted, and I had moments of laughter and tears and felt like I was a part of the story. We met quite a few of the side characters IN Love Notes and Lifelines and it was fun to see Tilly (Without A Hitch), Emory (Saving His Heart, and Sloane (Romancing His Heart) at the New York gala Seb and Rowan attended. I highly recommend reading this 5-star story!

This is everything a romance book should be and delivered all the emotional seasons.
A second chance with 3 kids craving belonging and love, a single dad who is doing his best, a woman running from her past. Then there is the small town shenanigans!

Sebastion and Rowan were camp friends that went there separate ways without a chance to say good bye. The chemistry was there when they found each other years later with some family shenanigans in the background. Definitely well worth your time to escape life and read this Avery Maxwell masterpiece.

Seb & Rowan. What can I say other than I absolutely loved everything about this couple. Their history and the way they crashed back into each other's lives so many years later. I loved his strength and her vulnerability, and I totally adored Seb's kids.

This story is like an ensemble drama, filled with great characters with several things going on that have nothing to do with the love story but still enhances all of it. The found family theme that runs throughout this story definitely tugs at the heartstrings and the way these rich, powerful men protect each other and each other's families is just...beautiful.

Late Nights & Love Lines is a wonderful love story filled with heat and emotions and a big, overwhelming group of people who meddle and hug and suck you right in to their beautiful, chaotic lives.

Rowan and Sebastian are camp friends who reconnect as adults. Life has not been easy for either of them, not even their reconnection. Their friends / family make the story richer and difficult to put down.

The title of this book is fitting because I definitely stayed up late into the night to finish it. It drew me in from the beginning and didn’t release its hold on me until I finished the bonus HEA epilogue.

Avery Maxwell always does a great job of blending emotional backstories with heartwarming stories of overcoming the past. There was a little bit of everything in this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it gave me the justice for Rowan, Sebastian and his kids I needed, and it was all wrapped up in a beautiful romance.

Rowan and Sebastian met at came when they were kids and with the help of Sebastian’s meddling Pappy, reunited when they both needed each other most. Sebastian’s life had been turned upside down and Rowan was finally in a place to move on from her past, whether she knew it or not. I really enjoyed Rowan’s relationship with Sebastian’s kids, especially Seren. I loved their connection and the way simply being able to understand a situation can lead to healing and growth.

This was another great plot with a large community of found family that filled in the gaps. I loved Sebastian’s determination to get Rowan to stay and his patience with her. I loved Pappy’s meddling. I loved the cameos of characters from other series. This was just an overall great book.

Rowan runs. It's all she's known since she was 16 years old.

Sebastian is a recently divorced father of 3, betrayed by his ex-wife and his best friend. When his new business partners invite him to Sailport Bay to get away from the city while they work out how to proceed with their business dealings, the last thing he's expecting is for the girl he fell in love with when he was 10 years old to show up to be his temporary nanny.

He's definitely a protector - and he knows that he needs to figure out a way to convince Rowan that if there was ever a time to stay, it's now.

Great story - there is - occasionally - a LOT going on with all of the players in the business game. But watching Rowan figure out how to take her life back from all of the people who hurt her in the past is worth it.

Avery Maxwell has perfected writing found families. I don’t know of anyone who does it better. Each world she builds is filled with the most wonderful found family for her characters. Late Nights & Love Lines takes us back to Sailport Bay and another Dad in need of the Single Dad Hotline.

Sebastian finds himself moving his family after a scandal that broke up his marriage and threatens his business. Reaching out to the Single Dad Hotline has a familiar face from his childhood assigned to nanny his kids. Quite quickly he realises that he wants Rowan to stay and as he juggles caring for his kids and saving his business he has to unravel Rowan’s secrets. I loved how patient Sebastian was and how he never pressured her to stay but demonstrated that she had a home with him and his family.

Rowan has cultivated a temporary life to protect her heart after the extreme trauma of her childhood. When she finds herself back with a familiar comfort she has to navigate the internal battle between staying and going. I adored Rowan’s journey in this story and how she came to the realisation that she wanted to stay. Her relationship with Sebastian’s children, especially Seren is so special.

The supporting characters in Sailport Bay once again rally around Sebastian & Rowan to envelope them into the family they have created.

Read this if you love found family, cute kids, romantic MMC’s who aren’t afraid to declare their love and brave FMC’s who discover where they belong. I can’t wait for the next instalment of the Single Dad Hotline.

When I say it gives you ALL THE FEELS, I literally mean ALL!! It will take your breath away, spin you upside down and spit you out, but boy Is it worth it
I usually read a book in a day, but I knew this was something special, so I paced myself to make it last longer, because I didn't want it to end, and now I've finished it, I'm finding myself at a loss, until the next book

When I started this book I struggled to get into it. A me problem, not an Avery Maxwell problem. But soon I was drawn in deep and finished it much faster than I thought I could read a 400+ page book.

I loved that Sebastian had so much patience for Rowan; he really understood her for the skittish, untrusting person she was. He gave her the room she needed to trust, while always giving her calming, gentle, unconditional love.

Rowan reciprocated by understanding how his daughter and two sons were struggling with the devastating acts of their mother, who left them all. And for the first time she found the kind of love that heals rather than hurts.

Oh and Pappy… the best man to his grandson Sebastian and his great grandchildren, and a positive force throughout Rowan’s life.

    Really loved this one…

I loved the depth of heartache, betrayal, and ultimately love in this book. The way that Rowan learned to love after such a heartbreaking life and how 3 kiddies helped her love without her even realising it was already happening. And Sebastian..gah! It is so romantic how long he has loved her.
    It's an amazing read.
