Whispers of the Magical Forest: Paranormal Women's Fiction (Midlife Witchery Book 20) Kindle Edition
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to sipping merlot... surprise! The Backside of Forty uncorked a peaceful wine-tasting weekend only to be poured into a multi-car pileup in a blizzard. So much for a relaxing girlfriends' getaway...
Before you can say "cabernet", Fiona, Violet, and Aislinn stumble upon a corpse buried in the snow, and it's buzzing with that unmistakable eau de supernatural. Turns out, the scenic village is more crime scene than picture postcard, with ritualistic killings that make ordinary weekend plans look downright boring.
The local mundie police think they can actually handle this mess, but spoiler alert: they can't. It's up to the coven, armed with trusty magic (and a bottle opener or two), to locate the killer before any more bodies -- supernatural or otherwise -- pile up.
That will be easier said than done one a dark-magic-loving shifter decides to kidnap Aislinn and hide her away deep in the forest. The battle to save her just might push these magical midlife mamas over the edge, nearly wrecking their favorite boots in the process.
Once they're out of the woods (literally), a new discovery leaves the girls aghast, and as the last of the snow settles, the real battle is just beginning. And in this magical world, survival is never the finish line. It's just the signal for the next round of chaos to start. Cheers to that, right?

- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2025This is an excellent series. The 4 groups have such diverse advantages. I live when they overlap. Can't wait to get the next book. They are so hard to out down.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2025Well, the Backside of Forty (BoF) are once again in Trouble. Fiona, Violet and Aislinn go off to try to have a nice weekend of wine tasting, but everything goes to heck right away. They go to Hambledon to try some of the Fair Folk’s wine. They do that and get some bottles to go, and then they find a car accident with a bunch of cars and some dead bodies that go all wonky, magically. Things just get worse from there. The people that die in this book are Chosen for a reason. Vi hears whispers in the surrounding Forest where the accident happens. Things get scary once again and I needed the AC on and began chewing on my nails and punching the pillows and muttered a lot while I read, some curses included, lol. But, the book is defo exciting and funny. Then it gets worse once again, I teared up with worry for the girls and the guys come to the rescue and I wouldn’t want to be the bad guys. Nope- not with a god, Thanos, Bas (Fae) and Argies (dragon!). Oh, boy, was the book good! The fights were awesome but there are still problems coming up. I sense a crossover coming up. Which is total yay.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2025Brenda Trim is a talented author and I have enjoyed all of her various series. I did find "Fruit of Magical Freedom" a little disappointing. Pretty much from start to finish it is death and distruction. Yes, they are fighting a true evil, but I can't help wishing there were more lighter moments. Or even a longer lighter beginning and end. Our current real world is depressing enough that I would at least hope when I read a book it gives me some moments of lightness to help deal with the others.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2025Whispers of the Magical Forest book 19 in the Midlife Witchery series by Brenda Trim is another wonderful story. Fiona, Violet and Aislinn otherwise known as the Backside of Forty, go off to try to have a nice weekend of wine tasting, but of course everything goes off the rails right away. The action is awesome but this might be the scariest case the girls dealt with so far. This is such an exciting read, kept me on the edge of my seat and of course there are some funny bits, it wouldn't be a Brenda Trim book without them lol!.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2025the ladies really do have an epically bad time when trying to take time out to relax.
repurposing elements connected to wine production and tadting apparently jas some exceptionally tsisted possibilities.
throw in some efforts at kidnapping and coercion, and some boundaries crushing - a good time was not to be had by all, as evils are faced once again.
intense and creatively awful attacks and attitudes instead of mellow vibes.
intruiguing drama filled reading adventures.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2025Cozy mystery or supernatural twists? Why chose. Violet, Fiona and Aislinn are back and with them comes a brand new story full ritualistic murders and kidnapping. It was heart-pounding and mysteriously enticing.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2025The Backside of Forty goes off for a wine tasting weekend and get more than they bargained for. It seems the little village of Hambledon is hiding a big secret. As the women get tangled up with a dangerous mage and his brainwashed and magically corrupted followers, they will be forced to call in the 'big guns' when Aislinn is taken. Argies, Bas, and Thanos show up, and, along with Gadross, join in on the rescue mission that takes them deep under the village into long forgotten tunnels.
Packed with action, and very little wine tasting. This might be the BoF's scariest case yet. It will make you shiver and reach for your own bottle of vino.
