First of all, the last thing I remember as I closed this book was the author bio and it said Rae is a biscuit and gravy enthusiast and I realized we were kindred spirits. Best breakfast ever? Sold. I just wish Wood would have made them some biscuits & gravy in this book!!
Make Me Dream Of You had my attention from the get-go. Livvy and Noah are hashtag goals despite all of the elements determined to stand in their way. I could not put this book down once I got going and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good redemption story as part of a romance novel.
Livvy is our FMC and she just moved back to Washington after graduating college and who does she run in to on a night out? Noah, the guy she’s had a crush on for as long as she can remember – oh, and by the way, he’s also her sister’s ex-boyfriend. That doesn’t make it sketch at all, especially since they didn’t make it and Bex (Liv’s sister) is friends with him now, knowing they weren’t meant to be together. But, after all of this time will Noah even recognize Livvy, much less be interested in her?
Noah, our MMC, owns the tattoo shop next door to the bar Bex works at, and the place where she is trying to get her little sister, Liv, a job as a bartender. Upon meeting Liv at the bar, Noah is drawn to her and promises he’d never forget a face like hers – except, he clearly has because he doesn’t recall her from all of those years ago, when she was a younger kid in her awkward years/stages.
As Noah and Livvy get to know each other at this stage in their lives, their chemistry and attraction to each other is pure fire. As they are busy flirting and exchanging emotionally fueled banter, neither of them will speak up and share their feelings for each other. I was a little frustrated at how long it took them to finally speak up and own up to their feelings, as well as make a connection with messages shared in an online app but once the connection was made, it was ON and I was cheering them on like a lovesick fool!
So as I finished up Make Me Dream Of You, I was really pining for an epilogue that would give me a clue in to how Noah and Livvy continue to evolve in their relationship PLUS how Wood will win over Macy because Spencer is a gigantic douche canoe!! I am excited to see there are three more books to follow this one in this new series and I plan to sign myself up for each of them! (Rae, I NEEEEEEEED Spencer to get his you-know-what handed to him! PLEASE!!!)

Plot: 4 📍 Spice: 3🌶️ Overall: 4.75⭐ I can’t get over how much I loved these two. Dixon and Livvy are just perfect! Livvy, starting out so reserved and shy, really grows into a confident young woman. Reading the story, you can tell from the get-go, she’s genuinely just a beautiful human being inside and out, talented artist, and deserves nothing but the best! Dixon, broken, trauma-guilt ridden man he is, learns to share his emotional burden, himself growing and evolving. He's a talented tattoo artist, young businessman, and phenomenal human being underneath all his hard exterior. We probably all had That One Crush growing up - older, perhaps the Bad Boy/Girl, definitely unobtainable. This book is the perfect daydream of What Could Have Been and it’s just totally swoony. The slow-burn between the two, until a catalyst realization creates SO much tension and it just explodes at the right time! And can we talk about how sexy consent is? Dixon, my man, you set the standard for consent, consent, consent! Verbal and physical! Well done, sir. Well done. Hints of future stories run through the story and boy do I hope I’m guessing that correctly! I ADORE the side characters just as much as our MCs and am rooting for Macy, “Wood”, Bex, and Jake to each find their HEAs as well! 0.25 Taken off for a micro-trope that really bugs me but may not others. And I can't go into detail b/c that would be a spoiler. I hope you enjoy this love story as much as I did!
