Mama's Boy (Last Man Standing Book 1) Kindle Edition

MUST HATE DOGS
Do you hate dogs? Only want to talk about yourself? Is having a sense of humor something you've never been accused of? Think eating for pleasure is a complete waste of time? Agree that tipping is for suckers? Then you're the date for me.

Dixon Beckett is the kind of guy who loves his mama, treats women right, and never ever wants to fall in love again. That's why he'll do anything to win a bet to be the last single man standing by Christmas.

He's got a plan, too. Create the most no-good, horrible, very bad dating profile in existence. Only someone actually responds to his ad...

The rules say he has to go on six dates with the first (or in his case, only) person who answers—even if that person is Fiona Hartigan: Hater of dogs, non-lover of any delicious food, and zero sense of humor.

But something feels off about this pariah. In fact, Dixon is almost positive Fiona is just pretending to be awful. Pretending to be the most horrible date in existence. And she's most definitely pretending to not be as interested in him as he is in her.

The more Dixon Beckett starts to unravel the mystery of why Fiona answered his ad in the first place, the more he starts considering the most vile, awful, terrible idea ever...falling in love.

There is nothing better than a story of two damaged people who fall in love and help each other heal. And Fiona and Dixon - phew - they have some scars and some messed up patterns of doing things but underneath the painful mess they are such beautiful souls. Their pain, as well as their joy, is palpable. Expect to feel all the things reading this book - expect to laugh, to swoon, to bite your nails, to roll your eyes, to be verklempt, and to cry. Fiona feels like she’s too trusting and gullible and she’s tired of being taken advantage of so she vows to channel her more bad@*# sister. Dixon’s main goal in life is winning - it is the only option. When he and his cousins make a bet to be the last single man standing on New Years, to make sure he wins, Dixon posts a horrible online dating profile which Fiona answers. Dixon is one of the people who’ve taken advantage of her. She’s had three business appointments with him to pitch her grandmother’s skincare line and he’s stood her up every time. After learning of the bet, Fiona agrees to fake date him with the promise of a to be named favor later which she intends to be a meeting with her grandmother. On the way to their inevitable HEA, there is growth for both Fiona and Dixon and it was beautiful (and at times hilarious) to watch it unfold. As an added bonus, it was great to see the loud wonderful Hartigan family again. I am really looking forward to Griff and Nash’s books.

Avery Flynn’s Hartigan family is one of my absolute favorite fictional families. They’re funny, close, seem to have no idea about boundaries, and are all so genuine.
Fiona is absolutely no exception. Dixon, on the other hand, was interesting, intense, and unexpected. I DO feel like the cousins were a bit TOO present in this book, and if **I** were dating a man whose cousins pulled that kinda stuff on me, I’d walk as quickly as my feet could go. Nonetheless, this was an easy 5 stars, I’ll recommend it to everybody, and I’ll probably reread it again!

When I first started this book it was kind of slow and the bet came off as childish. However, the prize and why they wanted to win was sweet so I stuck it out. The pace picked up and the story is definitely interesting. But I still want to know about the prize!🤔😯😮

I have been waiting for the Last Man Standing series from Avery Flynn since it was announced, and I'm happy to say that Mama's Boy was worth the wait. Can't wait for more!

Dixon, and his cousins Nash and Griff, have to remain single until the end of the year to receive a mysterious gift from their late grandfather. Dixon turns to a dating app to find the woman he thinks is least likely to be his match, and after falling in love and being betrayed before, he's not interested in a second journey down that path. Who is he paired with? Fiona Hartigan. If you're an Avery Flynn fan, you already know and love Fiona.

Fiona and Dixon were throwing sparks from their very first meeting. Their banter is the stuff of rom-com dreams, and Avery Flynn wrote Fiona with all of the sass, spark and fire that you expect from a Hartigan woman.

Loved Mama's Boy from start to finish. Classic Avery Flynn romcom writing at its best.

Cute! I enjoyed this one! They were perfect for each other! Now only two Hartigan siblings left to find love! Can’t wait for there books.

Now as for Fiona and Dixon go. Glad they both go their happily ever after. I do wish the book had a epilogue. I felt like it needed it. Kinda left you wondering what came next. A final wrap up.

This was a cute start to the series, but I was a tad disappointed that Dixon ends up groveling while Fiona seems to not be responsible for her little deception. I am starting to get jaded with the 'she can do no wrong' outcome lately.
On the plus side, Dixon is delightful, and Fiona is a sweetheart who has a history of falling for the 'wrong' type, and they find their way to a HEA via six dates set up by Dixon's cousins. The story has wit amd romance aplenty.

This was a sweet funny romance between Dixon and Fiona. I mean who can resist a Hartigan. This one is all about losing a bet. Great to see some old characters.

A great laugh out loud read! Found myself snorting away contentedly. Dixon is a softy that has been misrepresented! Fiona is gullible, but to help her Nana she’s going to turn the tables on the man who refused to have a business meeting with her. The story has lovely characters, the right amount of steam and funny banter.
