The deepest secrets are often to be found out in the open, if you only know where to look.
While her husband, Sherlock Holmes, is off playing detective in London, Irene Adler finds herself having to turn investigator when her friend Renata becomes the prime suspect in the attempted murder of her husband, Luigi Amato. How can she refute the testimony of a credible eyewitness, even though her heart tells her that Renata is innocent? What she needs is tangible evidence, and she’s willing to do what she must to obtain it.
When Sherlock finally arrives on the scene, Irene seeks his counsel, and he agrees to assist with her investigation. However their relationship is called into question by Irene’s dear friend Sophia, who is not overly fond of Irene’s husband nor approving of the way in which they conduct their marriage. Will Irene be able to prove her friend Renata’s innocence, or is there a more tangled web of deception at play? And will Sophia’s misgivings regarding her marriage bear unfortunate fruit?

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2023This 3rd book in the Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler series by author KD Sherinnford presents an interesting twist on the Sherlock Holmes epic: Instead of the focus being on Holmes, it is instead on his wife Irene Adler, who is pressed into service as a detective herself while her husband is off working on another case in London. In this story, the interest is as much on the relationship of Holmes and Adler as it is on the detective work itself. It is especially interesting seeing Holmes shown his romantic side—something that never comes out in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories about the detective. An interesting and enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2023Ever wonder how Sherlock and Irene would do as a crime solving duo? Ever imagine Sherlock’s brain balanced with a loving heart? Look no further. This book exemplifies an inventive series, namely a new twist on an old favorite! I very much enjoyed this tale and would recommend the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2024This genre typically isn't my go to. However, I enjoyed it nonetheless! Plenty of details and a plot that thickens throughout the read. The author does a wonderful job of adding emotions within the text through the lens of believable characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2025I really enjoyed Meet Me in Milan! The story was super engaging, and I loved seeing Irene Adler in the spotlight, not just as Sherlock's wife but as the one doing the investigating. The whole mystery around her friend Renata being accused of poisoning her husband kept me hooked, and the way Irene worked through it was really fun to follow. I also liked the way Sherlock and Irene’s relationship was shown—it felt real with its ups and downs. The setting in Milan was lovely too, and it made the story feel even more interesting. It had some great twists that kept me guessing until the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2024Aaaah...Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler.
Sherlock is gone to London on a case. Irene is invited to a dinner party at her longtime friend Renata Amada and her husband Luigi home. The next morning Luigi collapses at home while Renata is at work and taken to the hospital. Renata is accused of trying to kill her husband and Sherlock finally comes home. Irene convinces Sherlock that Renata is innocent and to help her clear Renata's name. And so, the adventure is on. This wonderful team is always a delight to read. Sherlock's charming Sherlock way he keeps Irene safe and puts the clues together, is my favorite part of the story. Has twists and turns. KD Sherrinford does it again. Highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2024I really enjoyed this book. I have not read a book with Sherlock Holmes and found this an easy fun suspenseful read. Sherlock's wife Irene Adler has a mystery of her own to solve and with a little help from her husband she does a great job. I cannot wait to read the other books in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2024I am a sucker for a good Sherlock Holmes book, no matter what version or alternate story, but this one was quite a catchy read! While I did not read the others yet, this one proved to be quite interesting and got me hooked all the way to the end. I do love the dynamic between Sherlock and Irene. Makes me glad there is a story where they end up together and work on cases as one. Great work!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2024KD Sherrinford provides the reader with a new twist on the well-known detective Sherlock Holmes stories. In Meet Me in Milan, we find him married to Irene Adler, who is a notable character in one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books. The author does an excellent job of making her characters come to life on the page and in keeping details of the story neatly within the time frame of the period. Although this is book number 3 in the series, it was easily read as a standalone.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing
In this captivating tale, the author skillfully unravels a web of secrets and mysteries, reminding us that sometimes the most profound truths are hidden in plain sight.
As Irene Adler takes on the role of an investigator, the story delves into her determination to prove her friend Renata's innocence in the attempted murder of Luigi Amato. The narrative subtly weaves a tapestry of doubt and intrigue, as Irene grapples with the challenge of refuting a credible eyewitness account that stands against her convictions.
Sherlock Holmes' eventual involvement in the investigation adds depth and complexity to the storyline. It's a moment where Irene's resourcefulness intersects with Holmes' legendary deductive prowess. The author deftly keeps the focus on the unfolding story, never losing sight of the central mystery.
The book also skillfully explores the dynamics of Irene's marriage and her friendship with Sophia, injecting a layer of interpersonal tension that adds to the narrative's richness. The characters are multifaceted, and their relationships evolve as the story progresses.
In summary, this well-crafted narrative is a testament to the art of storytelling. It's a tale of determination, friendship, and the pursuit of justice, all set against a backdrop of intriguing mysteries. The author's ability to keep the reader engaged while maintaining a clear focus on the central plot is commendable, making it an enjoyable and immersive read.

5.0 out of 5 stars very charming
This sweet portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and his secret wife and family was entertaining and a nice change from the faster paced, more modern stories I usually read. The efforts made to utilise the language of the times were significant and the plot and storyline were enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read
We follow Irene, the main character who, like her famous husband Sherlock Holmes who happens to be away, finds herself investigating the murder of her close friend’s husband’s attempted murder when the police come knocking. The story is filled with intrigue including an eye witness that provides misleading information that Irene has to dispel and convince authorities how this eye witness provided the wrong information. The reader is brought into the story as it unfolds and reveals the dark corners of the mystery of who done what.
It was an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Story
After reading and enjoying KD Sherrinford’s first two books, I was eager to read the third instalment in the Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler mystery series.
As expected, I was treated to an intriguing story, and so beautifully written that it warmed my heart.
Irene is living in Milan, awaiting the arrival of her husband, Sherlock Holmes, alias Lucca Sapori.
It is not long after the couple are reunited that the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, has another dastardly crime to solve.
A captivating story and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Highly recommended.
