- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024This is a fantastic overview of ADHD and tools to manage pretty much every aspect of life. My favorite part is each chapter ends with a 5 step checklist that serves as a good bullet point summary for reference. The author's tone fluctuates between academic and casual, it reminds me of a professor trying to sprinkle in relaxed language. It's perfectly read-able, and has tons of good information.
The book covers areas that will be familiar to anyone who's been struggling with ADHD or productivity for a while, like time blocking, setting up your work space, turning off notifications on your phone. Work out, eat healthy, get enough sleep, the standard advice in a thousand articles that everyone knows but not everyone actually does. She does take ADHD into consideration and give ideas for overcoming the problems we may run in to.
The author goes deeper in the later chapters, with juicier topics like setting boundaries, overcoming negative self talk, and viewing ADHD as a strength. From my experience in the Autism and ADHD worlds, these are probably the MOST important things for people with either diagnosis to learn. We're told so much that what we do, think, want, and act is wrong - from parents, teachers, peers, plus society tends to treat it as a joke. (Squirrel!)
These are deeper topics but the author keeps to her direct, succinct format. She gives you the tools to do the work unpacking all the emotions and feelings around the challenges of having ADHD. She also cites and links plenty of sources, and helpful articles and resources to go deeper in to each topic.
No matter where you or your loved one are in your journey of understanding and living with ADHD, this book is a great tool, well worth it. It's written with adults in mind, but there is still good stuff for helping kids navigate school and big emotions.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2024It hits the high notes and serves as a decent resource for someone who has never really explored the condition before (friends and family of those dealing with ADHD), but it never goes into any real depth on anything, and it provides a bunch of links which feel like cop outs to offering actual information. I also didn't find it to be in any meaningful way tailored to men, as the title suggests.
For anyone who is actually dealing with ADHD though, such as myself, you're not likely going to learn anything in this book that you haven't already stumbled upon at some point on WebMd or the like.
I made it half way through this book before throwing it in the recycling bin and finding something better, "ADHD 2.0". If you're interested in a book with actual substance to it, I would I highly recommend that instead.
