A Fantasy Cultivation Journey : Reborn of the Elements: Journey to the Outpost Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 182 ratings

Harvey fell asleep as a successful surgeon and awoke as a baby in a strange world with magic. He’d been color-blind before, but now he is straight-up blind.

Jorde has enjoyed peace for hundreds of cycles. The invention of protective domes has kept the beasts at bay. Sadly, this peace comes at a cost. The cultivators in Jorde, protectors of the Cardinals, have dulled their weapons. The peace has weakened them, and the Elemental beasts in the wildlands are rising again.

Despite being reborn to a commoner of meager means, Harvey, now Zaeris, has never been happier. He may be blind, but he can wield the Elements. He is stronger than humanly possible. Best of all, he has all his memories from Earth. Magic and science create wonders, and Zaeris would test the limits of magic on Jorde. He had reached the top of his field on Earth. Now, all he wants is to live quietly, making potions. It seems, however, that the quiet life is not for everyone. How long can he hide his capabilities? Will Master Cultivators in Jorde accept a Noname alchemist? Will the Elemental Beasts allow him to achieve his dreams?

The story is good and stays interesting and the writer has a great pace and the writing is well-edited. I like the mix of action, character development, and a rom-com aspect to relationship development. A great new writer in the Wuxia genre. I'm actually going to buy the book to support the author as I want them to keep writing :-)

Really great story, pacing, scaling - well crafted.
The book does need another solid round of editing, though, since there are many incorrect words or misused words. Still, I’ll give 5 stars for the story.

I confess I prefer fantasy series more along the lines of those written by Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer Armentrout, or Carissa Broadbent (yeah, I'm a sucker for fantasy with romance). However, I still enjoyed "A Fantasy Cultivation Journey : Reborn of the Elements: Journey to the Outpost" by Miles Dion. Although it took me a while to get used to the units of measurement (whether time or money, etc.), I found it extremely well-written, with rich character development and world-building. I especially found the POV of Zaeris with Flava, his mother, compelling (not to mention their relationship so endearing!). While I wasn't quite as fascinated by the POV's of the other main characters (with, perhaps, the exception of Jaydiz... I found myself looking forward to reading more about him and loved that he bowed to Flava, a commoner), they were all well-written and those pages were also very worth reading. I'd definitely recommend "A Fantasy Cultivation Journey : Reborn of the Elements: Journey to the Outpost" to anyone who does enjoy high fantasy.

Great first book in a new cultivation series. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the POV shift in the middle of the book, but only because I wanted more of the MC. The later POV shifts I enjoyed.

Reading the bio I now understand why there were so many errors in spite of being written by a clearly intelligent individual.

I enjoyed this story but skipped a lot of the useless fluff. Entire chapters could be replaced with something a little more worthwhile.

Still, I'll be reading the next one.

This book masterfully weaves together magic, science, and self-discovery in a captivating tale. The transformation of Harvey into Zaeris is a compelling journey of resilience and adaptation, showcasing the protagonist's growth navigating newfound abilities in a world filled with wonder and danger. The rich, imaginative world of Jorde, with its Elemental beasts and weakened cultivators, provides a unique and engaging backdrop for a story that blends fantasy with thought-provoking themes of acceptance and identity. This book is a must-read for fans of fantasy and cultivation novels.

The same cultivation recipe with added flavour. The book has a lot of details on the races that was very well blended. The MC just wants to be unknown for the freedom it grants. Looking forward to the next book.
