Moving On: A grumpy/sunshine MM romance Kindle Edition
Sweet deal.
Until a gorgeous man unlocks the front door and strolls right in with a grumpy attitude and a claim that his boss—who happens to be Sean’s brother-in-law—promised him the same apartment.
Former NYPD detective Tristan McDermott hasn’t stopped running since the death of his best friend. After almost two years of living in his own personal hell, he returns home to New York, hoping he can move on, but guilt still follows his every step. He's grateful to have the perfect apartment until he can settle into a place of his own. But there’s a cute guy already living there. And only one bedroom. And no way is Tristan leaving. He’s staying put.
Sharing the space is tough, but Tristan can ignore sweet Sean and his sunshiny smiles.
Kind of.
Except Sean's brother-in-law asks Tristan to keep an eye on Sean so he doesn't make any bad decisions.
Uh oh.
Keeping an eye on Sean is easy. Keeping his hands off him is much, much harder.
And sleeping together...well, that isn't a bad decision. Not when it feels so good.
Right?
From Lambda Literary award winning author Felice Stevens comes the story of a grumpy, green juice-drinking ex-detective running from the past and a sunshiney singing waiter who can’t catch a break. It features a meet-cute, only one bed, learning to trust, and a surprise lap dance.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSean's had to move out if his apartment when the building sprang a huge leak. His sister told him he could stay in her and husband's NYC apartment. He was all settled relaxing on the couch when the door opens and white handsome man walks into the apartment. They want to know why the other is in their apartment. They get it figured out. She and her husband didn't tell the other. Sean(sunshine and Tristan (grumpy) end of being roommates. They both had horrid childhoods and don't trust other people, don't want to get close to anyone because everyone either leaves or hurts you. Really enjoyed this book. Like everything about it, fuumy, steamy and a HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFelice Stevens starts off the new year with a forced proximity romance, and it's got two main characters with strong personalities. Moving On is the story of Sean Lovett, a down-on-his-luck guy needing a place to stay and finds exactly that when his sister offers a vacant apartment she and her husband own, and Tristan McDermott, a former police detective turned corporate security specialist who has been having trouble finding a place to buy and is offered by a client and friend living quarters he could use for the time being. The clincher? Tristan's friend is none other than Sean's brother-in-law, meaning they both end up in the same apartment. To share or not to share, that is the question! But that one turns out to be far easier to answer than whether they should act on their undeniable attraction to each other or not. Moving in and sharing an apartment is one thing, but moving on from hooking up to getting hooked on a feeling that may be forever.
There was quite a bit of tension going on between Sean and Tristan for a good portion of this standalone, but you know what they say--resistance is futile, although there was a fair amount of back and forth that happened because of the aforementioned resistance. Both men experienced their own share of tragedy and trauma prior to their paths crossing, and it felt like they were meant to meet and be what the other needed at just the right time. As always, Felice Stevens delivers her brand of romance with that familiar touch of angst that I can't resist. And a quick FYI for readers who are familiar with her Man Up series, Tristan is indeed the same one from there. Moving On gets four stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this story of Tristan and Sean!! The two couldn't be more different from each other, but couldn't be more perfect for each other! Sean was a guy who couldn't catch a break and was down on his luck. Tristan was returning from London to work in new York as the head of security at a bank. Tristan had a lot of guilt from his days as a cop. Sean had a lot of issues from being abandoned as a baby. The two helped heal each other. They were each others soul mates. This is a great book that I recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe storyline has great potential. I love that Sean and Tristan were both vulnerable and were each able to support and share themselves unabashedly with each other, however what did they look like? Their descriptions were vague, character development was lacking! We actually knew more about Charlotte's house and Monique's appearance than Sean's or Tristan's. Their eye and hair color, skin tone, body build and height would have helped me identify more with the main characters.
There was too much introspective dialogue; the story could have been a little more compact and not quite as neat. The intimate scenes were awkward and at times seemed visually impossible. Maybe the author should watch more BL!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2023Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseIn ordering these books, I wasn’t sure how a lifestyle like mine would be presented. I’m an older gay man and am not really used to the type of stories that Felice Stevens writes about. In other words regular stories about regular men. Some in unusual circumstances some in day to day adventures. I’ve found myself ordering her books again and again. Her insight is surprising and is a delight to read. I highly recommend her books. This story was one that really touched my heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHow Sean endure his abandonment and the foster home is amazing. However the ability to still have positive outlook, perseverance and strength to push on. British has pushed everything so far pushed down he starting to drown in despair. - Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt’s a story about how two broken people find themselves healing one another. The world has thrown bad shots at both Sean and Tristian but they still survived. Them meeting was a little rocky at first, but along the way they just can’t get enough of each other. I love how they were able to open up to each other and heal together. I’ve definitely cried a little at some scenes but it’s a amazing read. Thank for writing this book author!💗
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs always, Felice Stevens writes from the heart, giving me all the feels. I always love the covers of her books, just as much as the men she writes inside of them.
Simply beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars You never know what's right in front of you!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseFelice Stevens' books are always pre-order\buy books for me. Never have I read one I didn't like. This book is no exception.
How many times have you thought 'what if'? This is a story of one coincidence on top of another leading to the love of their lives.
Sean Lovett has just lost his job and his apartment on the same day. He feels life is kicking him when he is down when his sister Charlotte offers him the use of her and her husband's apartment in the city until he gets back on his feet.
Unbeknownst to her, her husband Ray, has offered the apartment to his employee, Tristan McDermott, until he can find a place of his own, after returning from working in London.
The problem is...there is only one bedroom, although there is a pull out couch. At first they balk at the idea as Sean is young and likes to go to clubs and Tristan is older and an ex NYPD officer. They soon fall into a routine, taking turns every two weeks using the bedroom and sleeping on the couch.
Sean likes to sing and uses that to start a new career while Tristan starts his new job as a Security manager at a bank . All the while searching for a new place to live.
Both characters are well developed and from what we learn about their backgrounds are well suited for each other, but they just don't see it. The more time they spend together, the closer they become.
The main focus of the story was not sex, but discovering more about each other through long, and short, conversations and learning to read each other's tells. The characters did not immediately fall for each other, although they were attracted to each other. It took time and patience.
It goes to show that love can find you when you least expect it. Just be open to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSean and Tristan are room mates with a lot of emotional history going on. As they are looking for a new apartment and a job they get passed the awkward phase into getting along even though they have steamy thought's about each other. Sean goes on a night out has one too many and ends up sleeping in the bed which is fine until he realises it's not his turn for the bed and Tristan is in it too! Their future takes on a rosy glow and feeling's become more intense and permanent.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis one was ok. While I liked both Sean and Tristan by the end of the book, I wasn’t that big of a fan of Tristan’s throughout most of the book. He kept giving me whiplash with his emotions and how he would open up to Sean and close right back down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read - just missing a content/trigger warning
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a sweet read. I loved getting to know Tristan and Sean, and appreciated the dual POV. I enjoyed watching them grow closer to each other, and seeing Sean begin to find his place in the world - his calling. Tristan had a lot of issues to work through, which were introduced to the reader from the beginning of the book (death of his work partner and his survival guilt). What I wasn't expecting was the extent and detail of the trauma that one character went though as a child. That took me by surprise, especially given there is no content/trigger warning. This involved description of sexual assault of a minor, so please be warned if this is a trigger for you! Otherwise it was a fun and enjoyable read. I liked that the epilogue gave further closure on a number of items as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars opposites attract
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIn this fun read we have Sean who finds himself homeless after a freak storm ruined his apartment building and he moves into his sister’s empty apartment until he can find a new job and place to live. Then Tristan walks in to the apartment claiming Ray offered him the place to stay in for a few weeks until he gets settled. In the end they come to an agreement and share the apartment. What starts of with both being closed off soon finds the. Slowly opening up to each other and realising they have more in common with how they growing up and they way their not so trusting of others. I enjoyed the secondary characters and how Sean keeps pushing himself out there to find jobs even though the situation is difficult. Tristan grew on my as he learns to deal with his past as well. Overall it was a quick easy low angst ready.
