There’s no emotion greater than fear.
No ache greater than grief.
No sound greater than silence.

I’m grateful he showed up on my doorstep, pissed off and angry at the world.
If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t be here.
And I don’t just mean here on this journey with him. I mean here, in this world.
*
I wonder what events in all our lives—hers included—are The Turning Points?
The points where we all determine that the fear of our pasts and the uncertainty of our futures are greater than our need for happiness.
Here.
Now.
While time and everything around us stands unmoving… who’s to say we can’t have it all?
***
We wanted it all.
We wanted it with each other.
We thrived on the chaos we created.
And ignored the Mayhem that ensued.

As always, Jay McLean's words are perfection

As always, Jay McLean's words are perfection
More Than Enough revolves around two characters who are struggling with a battle of silence and numbness... “Nightmares are real and they’re raw and they cause me to plead with my body to keep my eyes open because a single moment of darkness creates the hell in my mind.” To forget the past and the mistakes they’ve made… “I’m not going to lose her. Not again. She means too much to me.” They both have a deep history, one that has molded them and made them who they are, made them question the choices in their life and their worth, especially their worth to each other... “We breathe through the pain, apart but together, and we hold each other. We hold on to the only thing that makes sensing in an otherwise messed-up world and we allow ourselves to hurt and to grieve and to love and to forgive.” I fell in love with both characters. They stole my heart with their grief and story, their loyalty and love. Dylan completely lives up to the “heart and soul” man that we’ve always known him to be. I loved how much this man of silence had to say. He bared his heart and made the reader just adore him. He proved that when it comes to the love of his life, nothing would stop him from showing her she was more than enough. And she equally loved him with everything she had. As for who “she” is….well she’s Dylan’s other half, the one that makes him whole. She proves that no matter our past mistakes, there’s always room for redemption. There’s always a way out. She was real and raw and honest even when it wasn’t pretty. They both needed saving and neither gave up on the other. They struggled to be each other’s glue until they finally pieced themselves together…to find the calm, to find the horizon, to find their forever. Besides the two main characters, the More gang is back and back to all their Mayhem!!! First let me say, all the characters, I want them to all be my best friends. In this book, I just fell in love with them even more. But mostly, Jake...he’s just Mr. Perfect. I didn’t think I could love him more and I know this is Dylan’s book but Jake really stood out and stole my heart again. Swoon! And the Mayhem was some of my favorite parts. I was in a constant state of giggle fits reading about their Operation Mayhems. I loved it! I hated saying goodbye to the gang (I really hope this isn’t it!) but it was such a good way to go out with a bang…or a pie! As usual, Jay pulled out all the feels. This was her longest book and I loved every minute of it, even when my heart was breaking. I wasn’t so emotionally exhausted or torn apart or wrecked that I couldn’t start another book. I just felt GOOD. I was so happy with all these words and feels that I just didn’t WANT to start another book. I wanted to let it sink in, to remember and feel it all, to smile and remember the good times. “And even though we know the clock is ticking on our current time together…we don’t talk about it. We don’t look at the clock. We’re having too much fun.”

    PLATINUM LIPSTICK REVIEW

Sometimes a book comes along at exactly at the right time, it unapologetically knocks you on your arse, it takes you on a journey that at times leaves you gasping for breath, your heart strumming through your chest, it makes you question everything you thought you knew and leaves you perfectly sated and yet desperate for more. To say More Than Enough blew me away would be an understatement, this book unequivocally stripped me bare, it's message one of quiet simplicity, McLean asks the reader to check their preconceived notions at the door, instead begging them to join her characters for their journey, she tells the story that Dylan needed to tell, I was enraptured from the opening page, my mind captivated instantly.

Dylan has always been the ninja of the More crew, #TeamSilence a long running joke, the quiet man who has always stood back from the spotlight, the man who had no inclination to stand out, the man who was so adamant that he wanted his life to count for something that he enlisted to serve his country, picking up and leaving regardless of what he was leaving behind.

"But it is relevant. Because is and was is the difference between time standing still, and time moving forward"

There is a heroism to Dylan, his need to serve and protect, to provide shelter to those in the eye of their own storm, where Dylan was always comfortable to be a player in a larger ensemble More Than Enough is his chance to not only tell his story but to shine.

"There’s no emotion greater than fear. No ache greater than grief. No sound greater than silence."

There's a line in both the story and the blurb, about the sound of silence... and anyone who has ever battled depression, anxiety or PTSD will say with absolute certainty that there is no noise louder, no sound more haunting than silence, with its double entendre of quieting a raging mind, and yet allowing the voices in ones mind to run rampart. While More Than Enough touches on depression and it's far reaching effects, it's also a valiant story of survival, about love, and forgiveness. Depression affects over 20% of all people here in Australia, and as someone who is not ashamed to admit to suffering from it I've often struggled to describe what it feels like, but McLean writes so eloquently that she was able to put those feelings into words, when she writes

"The never-ending thoughts tormenting your mind, bringing you to your knees and kicking you while your down"
I felt every ounce of helplessness there, every bit of pain, of longing for the world to swallow them whole, these moments of heart breaking clarity, were juxtaposed with moments of swoon worthy romance, where the characters are just young and in love and trying to find a way to just be, when they aren't fighting their own battles to find themselves or their way to each other.

"Because....I plan on loving you like he did"

If it seems like I'm being deliberately evasive when it comes to the heroine in this story and focusing my review on Dylan I am. While the More gang features heavily here, More Than Enough is very much about Dylan's journey and his journey to becoming the man he always wanted to be. McLean never shies away from heart wrenching emotion, never approaches the story with kid gloves, and yet never exploits the characters pain for the sake of eliciting an emotional response from the reader. There's this beautiful message here that reminds the reader that emotions and feeling is okay, that admitting you need help doesn't make you weak. That sometimes you need to allow yourself to fall apart so you can rebuild yourself stronger and more aware. McLean writes strong heroines, hero's that aren't afraid to show emotion, she writes about friends who become family, and the craziest kind of mayhem that ensues when you open yourself up to chances and in turn life.

"All emotions are valid, Dylan. Regardless of whether you think it's right or wrong to feel them, they exist because they're real."

The beauty of story telling takes place when the author takes the reader on the journey that the character wants to go on, it's not always the journey the reader wants to take. More Than Enough is breathtaking for so many reasons, but most of all, it's sheer beauty, it's unrelenting power comes from the fact that this is the story Dylan needed to tell.

This is one of my all-time favorite series and I know this hard to believe, but my favorite in the series. Dylan Banks is something so incredibly special to me and now my favorite More Man. I know, I know this is a huge deal, because I have loved all these guys so hard, but Dylan is More than Enough for me. He is more than I expected and I can honestly say Dylan was worth the wait.

Throughout the series I have never paid a ton of attention to Dylan. He was always wrapped up in drama and I am not a fan of drama, but from the beginning of More than Enough I fell in love. I fell in love with the selfless, broken boy who saw he could do more and did. When the story begins Dylan is returning home from war and is injured. He is dealing with nightmares, guilt and a sense of failure, but that does stop him from going above and beyond to help someone else.

Dylan’s love interest has experienced great loss and is still struggling when Dylan arrives home. I absolutely loved how Dylan was there for her when she needed him, but when she needed to step up she didn’t hesitate. Both of them were selfless in their love, but imperfect, realistic characters. Like all of Jay’s stories there wasn’t any insta-love, their connection took time to develop and there were definitely growing pains.

This isn’t just my favorite in the More Series but, it’s one of my favorites I read this year. I love how despite this being a long story I couldn’t get enough. I love how when I finished I was still thinking about it and wanting to tell the world how fantastic it is. I loved how it made me feel, it was a roller coaster of emotions and once I got started I couldn’t stop. I was completely engaged and felt everything the characters felt.

More than Enough had Jay’s signature More style. I loved seeing the rest of the Mayhem Group and having them share in the highs and lows. I love the “family” they have formed and how they are always there when they need each other. I loved the book comments that any book lover can recognize, they always make me smile or laugh out loud. I loved how the story was light and fun, but also had so much depth and heart. It was the perfect mix and in the end there was nothing I would change.

Jay McLean has quickly become one of my favorite authors. It’s kind of like your relationship with your significant other, you think you love them in the beginning, but after years together you realize your love only grows. Same with Jay, I thought I loved her books in the beginning, but every book I read I realize my love for her stories multiples. Her stories are unique, emotional and entertaining. I highly recommend.

This book did more for me then Jay McLean will ever truly know. I connected with it on level of dang. This book makes you feel for Riley, for Dylan. And everyone in between. I've read it about 3 times now (and not right after one another) the more than series is well written. It makes you laugh, cry, hate, get mad , sad and laugh more. The feeling I got with this one was all of the above but also an understand that love between two people can be just like this yet so raw and tragic.

Jay McLean has written a wonderfully beautiful book that leaves you as a reader, wanting more (no pun intended). You wanna see Riley and Dylan's babies. You wanna see them fall even deeper in love , you wanna see Riley bring home a companion for Bacon. You wanna see so much yet happy it ended the way it was ended. I'm glad Jay finished off this series with Dylan's story. I'm glad Riley was brought to us. I'm glad #teamsilence was brought to us and we were able to love them both beyond we imagined we could.

I Highly!! Recommend this book to anyone that was looking for a little bit of it all. It has heart, pain, drama and love.

Dylan Banks is an amazing character that you wish was real.

Riley Hudson is a beautiful person with so many flaws your drawin into her like a moth to a flame.

Together, it's just.... MORE ( pun intended for this one)

This book to me was EVERYTHING! I felt so much, I lived every moment with them and the words on the pages were so spectacular and perfect, I still can't even think straight 48 hours after reading it.

Lance Corporal Dylan Banks is a man of few words but when he sees that he is needed, to help bring a girl back from the brink of despair, he becomes a man who gives her the hope she needs to move on from a loss that has had her sinking into a life of depression and grief.

He understands the need for the silence, and the need for comfort through just being there, connecting with another person who just knows you on a deep seated level of intuition, and who feels you mind and soul.

Through this bonding, he falls deeper and deeper and the thought of leaving her, this woman who he has seen at her lowest low, and has overcome the sad in her life, makes him feel helpless when he has to return to duty and he is once again in the midst of a war in Afghanistan.

Just when everything is perfect, a devastating event interrupts their happiness and the real journey to battle for a happy ending begins.

This book touches on depression in several forms and it was absolutely heartbreaking to watch it all take place on the page, especially when a proud and honourable man becomes a man who has the ability to hurt the ones he loves by words alone. But the strength that his forever girl has is fierce and she repays him for saving her by saving him, even if it means she loses him.

Whilst I spent hours crying over the pure heartache this book delivered, the author balanced it out with the most funny and entertaining dialogue and one liners that gave me such joy that I am in awe of how she weaves a story together so perfectly. There were so many little details that I know without a doubt that I will read this book again just so that I can experience the magic all over again.

So many things I loved about this book, and seeing as this is the finale of the More series, I cannot not mention the rest of the gang and their mayhem madness. Everyone that we have come to love was present, and it was a bitter-sweet end, but so, so good.

I feel like I have gone on such an emotional journey and I wouldn't change a single thing about it, which is why I have added this book to my all time favourites shelf.

There is a lot more I could say but if I did we'd be here all day, so I think it's best just to say thank you Jay McLean for this series.

This is a New Adult romance, and the last in the series. Can be read as a standalone, but not recommended due to the sheer brilliance of the other books. Told in dual POV.

Wow !!! This book is an emotional train wreck but if it’s possible in a good way .. I mean it draws out STRONG emotions !! If you want an emotional book that will help you cry this one is it haha . I got to part two and I was scared to keep going in that every time I picked it up I knew I’d feel emotional . I cried a lot .
This series has just got better and better with each book . And I’ve learnt I had to trust the author along the way that she would do the right thing by the characters .
I love them all !!! For different reasons and I feel like I know them and I want to be friends with them ! that’s a special talent right there .
Funny though how getting to know Dylan was different to how I thought it would be . He was like finding a treasure - he’s such a beautiful character and worth the wait until the last book to discover him !!
    Just beautiful really !!
