- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2014Ruined. I am ruined. I don’t know how many times I can say this before the whole world finally believes me, but Jay McLean has some mad writing skills. Every time I finish one of her books, I sit and slowly feel the book hangover come over me. It’s ridiculous. I freaking love all her books. More Than Him was definitely different from MTHer. But also the same. Logan and Amanda are imperfectly perfect. See how everything I've said is contradictory? It's because Jay's books throw me all over the place.
“All that we had, every moment we shared, it meant everything to me. Everything you felt, I felt it, too. It was the hardest hing to do, to walk away from you, from us, but I had to do it, because you deserve so much more. And I hope you see that.”
MTHim wraps up Logan and Amanda's story, but in no way was I ready for it to end. It’s not as angsty as MTHer was, thank goodness for that or I would have killed someone (meaning Jay. And Logan). MTHim picks up a few weeks after Logan left us heart-broken with that god-awful, cliffy ending. Logan is physically gone, but Amanda is gone in every aspect but physically. It’s heart-breaking, and it was hard to watch her go through the motions of life without really living. We watch her slowly pick up the pieces as time goes by.
“I don’t just love you. It’s like the word I want to use hasn’t been invented yet. Maybe it’s because no one’s ever felt this type of love before. Maybe I’m the first to feel it. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. But those words—I love you—they just don’t seem like enough. Not anymore.”
Then one year later, Logan is back. Dun, dun, dun. And we get to figure out what he was up to the past year. The story starts alternating POVs as soon as they lock eyes again. I really don’t know what I expected to happen, but it was even more emotional than I thought it would be. I don’t want to spoil what happens, however, just know that there is no way to prepare yourself for it. MTHim is more than just a love story. It is a story about healing and moving on. It's learning to accept love and learning to let go. It's a story about finding yourself, and then giving yourself to another person. Even without the angst that we saw in MTHer, I was still clutching my heart.
“People might have hated the choice we made or be upset we didn’t do it properly. But she was my person. Nothing else mattered. Not back then. Now everything matters.”
The thing I enjoyed most on this journey with Logan and Amanda was watching them grow up together. By the end of MTHim, they’re completely different people than when we first met them in MTHer. Logan was never really a self-centered, douchebag, but we see him grow into his skin more. He’s been shaken by his past returning, but we see him finally put his demons in the past. Where they belong. He and Amanda overcome their monsters. Together. Amanda also did a lot of maturing in these two books. Her ability to be strong for herself and Logan always amazed me.
“I couldn’t tell you why he let me in, or what it was about me, or about us, that led him to believe that it was okay for us to fall in love the way we did. The kind of insanely deep, destructive love. Destructive. That’s exactly what we were.”
I think the main issue for them wasn’t whether or not they still loved each other after all that happened to them. They’re only human, they get scared. Love can be scary, and their worst nightmare happened. So, the question isn’t whether or not their love is able to overcome all that, but if Logan and Amanda are ready to let their love take control. If they’re ready to let themselves be happy again. With each other. They understand each other like no one else does. They’re such a perfect fit for each other. With every turn of the page I watched them fall deeper in love, and I also fell more in love with them.
“I don’t think anything, or anyone, is ever going to keep me away from you. I love you way too much. You’re my heart, my world, my light.”
So, if you haven’t figured out yet. The More series is one of my favorite series ever. I absolutely can’t wait for Jay’s next book. There’s The Road and then More Than Forever, Cam and Lucy’s book! Oh yeah, I loved catching up with the crew again in this book. Through thick and thin, they’re always there for each other. Even when each couple is having their own issues, they can always fall back on each other. I will be sad to see the More series end one day. It can’t. I need them. Every word makes me emotional. How does that even happen?
“This chain hold all my dreams.”
“Yeah? You hold all of mine.”
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2025So far I have read books 1-3 and enjoy them. They never get boring. But, is it odd that none of the friend group ever seek help for their mental health? First books, one of the women’s family was brutally murdered. Second book talks about parental abandonment (both to Logan as a kid and Amanda as an adult) then they’re attacked, beaten and almost raped. Yet no one seeks out professional help?
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2014This book was everything I hope it'd be and more. I cried, laughed, smiled, got angry, swooned, all the feels and that's when you know a book is that good when it can stir up all your emotions.
I now see the need for two books their story couldn't be summed up in just one. MTHim has a completely different feel to it then MTHer. They are two completely different stories but tied together. MTHer was about finding that connection, falling in love, choices and consequences it seemed more face paced. Where as MTHim is about the aftermath of said choices, the heartbreak, forgiveness, growth and healing it has a more slow steady flow to it.
Logan, Logan, Logan my love for this fictional guy just grew ten times more! It's always nice to see growth within a character and Logan did just that. Finally this time around he wasn't running away he wasn't giving up and he was ready to stay and fight for her. Of course he still has major issues to work through only this time he's decided to let Her in maybe because he knew they needed to do this together to in order to heal. Growth! He's still making mistakes but he's learning. He's flawed, yes but he's human. Just the way I like my book boyfriends, who needs perfect!
Amanda is one of those female characters I like reading about. She's strong yet weak at the same time. She's compassionate, forgiving, but doesn't take sh*t from anybody and isn't afraid to stand up for herself and others. She isn't perfect but then again who is? It just makes her more real and relatable.
Together they begin the road to recovery. The hurt, anger, disappointment is still there because just like in real life they doesn't just disappear. Only this time their learning to process it and deal with it. There's blame, guilt, sadness but when they finally come together and decide to take that chance again it turns into something beautiful even more so than the first time around. You can feel the hope, the love, the happiness, and you can't help but smile. The tattoo, the ring, the vials, the ILY's *swoon* perfection!
The journal entries were heartbreaking, drunk Lucy is still my favorite thing ever but I can't wait to peek behind her layers and get to know more about sober Lucy. I LOVE the reappearance of Lucy's brothers how freakin' hilarious and cute are they? They deserve their own spin off series. Alan Matthews is the best dad ever! Ice Ice Baby..I don't care how lame that song is if Logan Matthews is rappin' it I'm down! And Ethan I didn't really feel anything for him in MTHer but I loved him in this one. He's was the sweet, over bearing, over protective brother and as much as I cringed with every hit he landed on Logan I understood where he was coming from. Glad to see he's found happiness. Dylan was only in this one for 5 seconds and after Heidi's confession I'm so intrigued I really hope Jay plans to write a book for them. I don't know much of anything about Dylan we've only seen glimpse of him but he seems broken like Logan so he might just turn out to be one of my favorites of their group along with Logan and Lucy.
I was more than satisfied with the ending they deserve their happily ever after. And now I can't wait for Cam and Lucy's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars wieder einfach super

5.0 out of 5 stars "That's not all, that's everything"
Better, and better, and better. That's what these books are getting. That what this series is. All of the feelings on all of the pages. I cried "eleventy-three" times,. I laughed just as much and my heart is a big swoony, slushy mess inside my chest.
Pretty sure I looked not quite right as I stared at the pages with a goofy grin on my face, I'm also sure I sighed out loud on numerous occasions.
In some ways these books can be detrimental to relationships, I mean it's just not real is it? That amount of love? Or maybe it is, maybe there are Logan and Amanda's out there. Lucky buggers.
This story is filled with so much sadness, it's hard to believe how Jay was able to cut through it and all I remember is the love and light. More evidence of the magic of her writing.
Onto the next for me, I'm burning through these books and can see them landing on my re-read pile.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Logan heartfelt stars!!
More Than Him by Jay McLean
4.5 stars!!
"You meant the world to me. And if you couldn't see that - then that's how I'll start. Every day I'll show you, and every day I'll prove to you just how much you meant to me. How much you still mean to me."
Jay McLean does it again with the continuation of Logan’s story. This is again emotional, but Jay does do “emotional” really well. My heart broke for this couple. The book starts with Amanda just dealing with Logan’s departure and she is not coping well. She is just living a mundane existence day to day and never really moves on. She just cannot comprehend how he could just up and leave without saying goodbye.
Logan, with the help of his dad has moved overseas to become an aide worker, working with people who are really having a torrid time and is a real eye opener for Logan. After working there for quite some time he soon comes to realise that he is still not happy and that he is not doing the right thing for himself. He needs Amanda and come hell or high water he is going to fight for her. All I could say was “about time!!”
“I don’t need the world, Logan. I just need you.”
This book was a book about self discovery and forgiveness. Logan needed to find himself before he could commit to Amanda. He may have gone about it the wrong way but at least the end result was the right one. He has some serious making up to do and Amanda needed to forgive him for his past transgressions before they could move on as a couple.
“I can’t waste them, Logan. You’re my person. I’ll never run out of loves for you. Ever.”
The heart to hearts that these two had were much needed, they needed to open up their lines of communication and once they were opened there was no stopping them. They were honest with each other for probably the first time and then they went on their newfound voyage of discovery all over again. It was beautiful.
“You know, one day, baby, I’m going to take your nightmares and turn them into dreams.”
The only real problems they faced now were the acceptance of others that this was the right choice and the right thing to do and some would be harder to convince.
Once again this book is written beautifully and is very emotional for us softies at heart. Jay really gets the chemistry across in the pages and you cannot help but immerse yourself in their story. The secondary characters as always are vital and bring another dimension to the story that once again you cannot help get involved with and I can’t wait to see where these characters go from here.
This is one series that I absolutely love and Jay McLean will always be a one click author for me going forward. These characters have etched a permanent mark in my book bank and are ones that I can read again and again. Once again Jay McLean a job well done, totally loved it.
“I don’t just love you. It’s like the word I want to use hasn’t been invented yet. Maybe it’s because no one’s ever felt this type of love before. Maybe I’m the first to feel it. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. But those words – I love you – they just don’t seem like enough. Not anymore.”
