En esta última, dada la concentración de poder que la civilización precolombina atribuyó al Sol y al Inca, las figuras femeninas, en la documentación disponible, no cruzan la barrera de personajes secundarios.
Sin embargo, una mirada diferente a la habitual ha permitido releer los textos de los observadores del siglo XVI, y ofrecer nuevas líneas de interpretación que se apoyan en una reflexión psicoanalítica y una cuidadosa selección de fuentes históricas.
Este trabajo retoma la indagación iniciada en 1987 por Max Hernández, Moisés Lemlij, Luis Millones, Alberto Péndola y María Rostworowski, con la publicación "Entre el mito y la historia", y reúne los actuales intereses de los autores Lemlij y Millones, y la colaboración de asistentes que hicieron posible su realización.

Moisés Lemlij Director del Seminario Interdisciplinario de Estudios Andinos (SIDEA), Doctor en Medicina, Fellow del Royal College of Psychiatrists. Entre los cargos más importantes que ha desempeñado, ha sido Secretario Asociado, Vicepresidente y Tesorero de la Asociación Psicoanalítica Internacional y Presidente de la Sociedad Peruana de Psicoanálisis. También ha sido Profesor Visitante del Elliot School of International Affairs de la George Washington University y del Guy's Medical School de la Universidad de Londres, así como Consultor Académico y Profesor de la Maestría en Estudios Teóricos en Psicoanálisis de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Ha recibido el Premio Internacional de Psicoanálisis Mary S. Sigourney y la Distinción por Méritos Excepcionales al Servicio de la Salud y la Orden Médica del Colegio Médico del Perú. Asimismo, ha sido distinguido por la Sociedad Peruana de Psicoanálisis, el Northern Ireland Institute of Human Relations y la Asociación Peruana de Psicoterapia Psicoanalítica de Niños y Adolescentes, instituciones de las que es Miembro de Honorario. Luis Millones Antropólogo y Doctor en Historia por la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima, 1965. Obtuvo la Beca Nacional de Cultura, 1967. Ha recibido las siguientes distinciones: Profesor Emérito de Universidad de San Cristóbal de Huamanga, Ayacucho, 1998. ¡UN LIBRO FASCINANTE! Con un enfoque profundo y novedoso sobre el rol de las mujeres en la sociedad andina precolombina. Me impresiona saber que entre los siglos IV y V d.C. en la costa norte del Perú existió una mujer gobernante, una sacerdotisa, la Dama de Cao.

I had the pleasure of attending the presentation of this book which shines light on a new approach to women's roles in and during pre-hispanic societies. The photos, from great museums and personal collections are remarkable and enhance thee text.
