Liam
I joined Doctors Without Borders to help save lives and almost lost my own. The only reason I’m alive is because of Marco D’Angelo. My journey to full recovery isn’t smooth, but I’m determined to get stronger and continue to help others in need. When an opportunity arises to help Marco and his team, I grab it with both hands. I’d like to grab Marco with both hands, but he’s put up a wall between us that seems insurmountable. I’m not sure if I’ll break through his wall or break my own heart.
Marco
I left the Navy SEALs to start my life with the man I loved. But he was taken from me in the most brutal way imaginable. Now it’s strictly hookups for me. I am not going through that pain ever again. Liam is a complication I can’t afford. He smart and sassy. He challenges me at every turn and manages to make me smile when no else has been able to. And even though I push him away, I can’t seem to walk away.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Evie is a new author who has always been an avid reader, mostly fantasy, science fiction and, of course, romance. After raising three children into adulthood, acquiring a master’s degree, and opening a counseling practice, she figured she didn’t have enough to do, so she decided to write books. Evie lives “down the shore” in New Jersey with her husband, her youngest son, his fiancée, and her goofy Rottweiler. Every summer she complains about “the bennies” coming down and snarling up the traffic, but she’s a Jersey Girl through and through.

Well written story and well developed characters. He was a nurse practitioner that worked for the Visiting Doctors Association. He was captured and Marco was part of the rescue team! Will they get together? As far as Marco is concerned the answer is No!!

This was a good read. The only reason why not a 5 for me is because I was need more. This is a me not book thing. I’m in a hurt comfort season and I needed more hurt. I wanted more groveling, I wanted to see one get hurt with a declaration of love. I wanted more grrr. That being said this was still a good read. Loved the dynamic and the story. The smexy was nice and the side characters I hope get their own stories.

OK. First, I must say that this cover sizzles. Right?! But you must also read the Dedication by the author and the Author’s Note. Pretty compelling. This book touches on one of the most serious but underreported issues we suffer in this country and the world at large, human trafikking. This is a cause that will play out in this book. So sensitively and well done. There will be some scenes that could be hard to read. Just be aware. Our story is about Liam O’Neil who is a Nurse Practictioner with Doctors without Borders who was abducted by militants in Lebanon. Marco D’Angelo and his crew of “Angels” in security have come to take him home. My favorite line: “I’m Marco D’Angelo. We’ve come to bring you home.” Whew! Brings tears to my eyes knowing that this statement has been said in reality to the lucky ones.
Along with others working with him, Marco is an ex-Navy SEAL. They have skills that allow them to do things undercover and friends in the right places to cover for them. Marco has been hurt in love once, so he vows never to fall again, but he didn’t count on Liam.
I breezed through this book. It caught my attention on page one and never let go. Highly recommended if you like fast-paced action books with M/M romance. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

The first book of the series was a better story, this book fell flat. Hard to get invested in the characters.

Mmmm I knew this book would be good. I absolutely adored Jeremy and Sean’s story in Moonlight so I desperately needed Liam’s story! Marco has some serious hidden depths that he doesn’t let anyone get near, until Liam. It is going to take some serious work for Liam to help Marco realize that he isn’t some dainty fainting flower but a strong man who knows what he wants. He was just caught in a bad situation. Liam is a gem of a person who deserves more than Marco’s problems but the heart knows what it wants. Marco just has to figure out how to get out of his own head. These characters moved me and I got very quickly invested in their journey…even if I wanted to smack Marco upside the head.

    3.5 stars.

This novel did not get as good an editor as the first book did, which is seriously disappointing. Although I still read the last third without reading any other books, it's just not as carefully written as Moonlight, and I am concerned for future books. I was hoping McGlynn could join my favorites.

    Time will tell.

I wasn't as fond of the SEAL, but that's just me. People really are that stupid when they're afraid, that's a real thing.

I loved this book, and I had to read it a couple times just because it was so good. There was some great action, but the love story and how it unfolded is just beautiful to me. I love Marco and Liam are so clueless in the beginning, but this makes the HEA even better!

I do suggest going back and reading Moonlight, though you can read them separately. The series is amazing and I hope to see more from it in the future!

Awww…this one was so so good too!! Marco has a heartbreaking backstory, but Liam is just the right guy to help him get overcome it!! This one is e little more angsty than Book 1 of the series, but it was still oh so good!

5.0 out of 5 stars An auto click author for me now
Reviewed in Australia on September 25, 2023
Starlight is another fantastic book written by the author, which I loved. Scenes in this include triggers and may disturb readers.
Liam, a nurse caught up in a war zone in the prologue, makes a great beginning as the rebels had severely hurt him. He meets his rescuer, Marco, an Ex-Seal with the Angel Security team.
A time jumps forward, and Liam is dealing with PSTD while recovering; we don't get to read what happened after his rescue which I really wanted in this book.
Marco had his ghost, he's grieving and dealing with his partner's suicide after he'd been discharged from the military service.
I couldn't help but feel for them both for different reasons. Liam's crushing on Marco, while Marco vows never to fall in love again.
Scenes play out, and dramas happen for Liam to join the Angel security team with Marco.
I loved the hot chemistry between both guys, as they had feelings for each other but didn't act on them. I could have kicked Marco for treating Liam the way he did near the end. A fast-paced story with both POVs and concludes with a HEA. Marco finally gets his act together. The author is fast becoming an auto-click for me, as I loved this series's first book, Moonlight.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Both characters are so sweet. Liam has a huge capacity to give and despite the trauma from a near death experience, he continues to do so. Marco already suffered a broken heart that he barely came back from and doesn’t want to open his heart up again. But their friendship and pull towards one another might just give him that second chance he didn’t know he needed.
Side note: This could well be my favourite book cover ever 💕

A great addition to this amazing series, I stumbled across this series by sheer fluke but I am so glad I dived into it. The stories are really great and seem to overlay another and the sweetness and hotness is just the right amount. I highly recommend .

5.0 out of 5 stars loved this as much as the first book!

We first meet Liam and Marco in Moonlight, book 1 in this series.  Liam is a nurse and was working with Doctors Without Borders when he was kidnapped.  Marco who is an ex Navy SEAL and friend of Liam’s brother Sean, goes on a special mission with his elite team and manage to save Liam.

Due to their mutual friends, they cross paths often after Liam has recovered and Liam can’t help but form a crush on Marco. Things get more complicated when they start working together on secret rescue missions and they become friends with benefits.  The elite team are great bunch and they all get on well, welcoming Liam into their fold making him feel welcome and safe. His brother Sean is a bit overprotective but after almost losing his brother its understandable.

Marco hasn’t recovered from tragically losing his fiancé 3 years ago and doesn’t want to get his feelings involved anymore, just sticking with quick hookups.  When his arrangement with Liam starts to get serious, he needs to put space there but ends up hurting Liam in the process.

Marco has to decide if Liam is worth fighting for and accept that what happened to his partner is different from what he has with Liam.

I enjoyed the various covert missions, how strong yet sassy Liam was standing up for himself. I wanted to tell Marco to open his eyes at times but the special times and the obvious attraction they had, made up for it.

There are mentions of child trafficking and suicide which can be TW for some but apart form that it’s a great book. I look forward to more by this author.

This book follows on from Moonlight where Liam and Marco were introduced. Their amazing story will take you places you never thought of. Once again, absolutely brilliant storytelling from this amazing new author. I cannot wait to see the next offering.
