The Book Feud: Enemies to Lovers Romantic Comedy Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 211 ratings

Previously published as The Ghostwriter of Christmas Past

How do you move on when the whole world is obsessed with your breakup?
Ten years ago, Holly Hart’s ex-boyfriend, Elliot Sinclair, turned their relationship into a bestselling novel that transformed her quiet English village into a bustling tourist hotspot. Worse, the book’s fame came with a fictionalized version of their story—and zero credit for Holly’s role in helping him write it.

Now, every holiday season, Holly can’t escape the reminders of her past, with visitors flocking to her town and asking if she’s “the girl from the story.”

When Holly lands her first big ghostwriting job—a Christmas romance—she seizes the chance to reclaim her narrative and take a jab at Elliot. But her plans go awry when Elliot unexpectedly returns to town, charming as ever and working on a mysterious new book of his own.

As Holly navigates forced proximity with the man who broke her heart, she begins to unravel secrets about their past that don’t quite add up. With timelines shifting between their whirlwind romance and their icy reunion, Holly starts to wonder: did she ever truly know Elliot?

Perfect for fans of second-chance romance. The Book Feud is a love story about facing the past, embracing the present, and discovering the magic of love all over again.

This is my first book by Amber Eve, and I wasn't sure if I would love it as much as I do. However, it's one of the best stories I've read, featuring excellent storytelling and writing. I really love both main characters and how they overcome their fears. Additionally, I enjoy the secondary storyline in the book. I did manage to figure out two major spoilers early on, which made it a bit predictable, but nonetheless, I absolutely love this book.

This is an interesting premise, she’s a ghostwriter and just got signed to ghostwrite for a famous author who’s ill. Elliot is from the States looking for info about his great grandpa who was in the small town during WWII. They have a very fast paced love affair and then are torn ignomiously apart as he leaves to go back to the States. This is a writer from the UK so it has different mores than here. It’s all very closed door but Holly and Elliot are intimate during his first stay and it’s very matter of fact. After he left she started a relationship with the boy next door who has always crushed on her and he moved in. There’s also some language that sneaks in - both mild swears and even a f-bomb, and several blasphemes. This also points to the English culture outlook and culture. Like I said it was a fun story with a few little twists thrown in.

As an avid book reader, it's a rare book that can have me laughing out loud in one chapter, furious in another, and silently letting the tears fall later on.

Fantastic book, one of the best I have read in a long time, highly recommend for a lazy day on the couch.

I really enjoyed this book! As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate books with more graphic sex scenes mainly because I've felt it's impossible to find a romance that really moves you without them. Apparently this book proves me wrong! The story unfolds jumping between the past and the present with just enough suspense that it was interesting and not distracting or annoying like some time slips . I could barely put it down!!!!

A sweet and well written Christmas romance read this is sure to please. Our main characters are Holly and Elliott. This book goes back and forth between 10 years when these two meet initially and the return. When Elliott initially met Holly it was a fast-paced love that he wrote a love story and promptly left, which made Holly a holiday grinch. News of his return delivers a mix of emotions for Holly. A delightful holiday romance read that is sweet and has all the feels.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

    - Christmas romance
    - Small town
    - Second chance

This book is so clever and so cute. Ironically, this book is about a small town in England that becomes popular due to a book, then movie, having been based on it. I could see this as its own Hallmark movie!

Ten years ago, Holly, who works in her family's bookstore and Elliot, an American researching his family, met by chance at a Christmas market and dated for exactly 23 days. Then Elliot went home and wrote a best selling romance book based on their relationship and it went viral, netting a movie deal.

Holly is not a fan of Christmas ever since losing her mother. She was at the Christmas market on a whim and wonders if the snow globe both she and Elliot were reaching for is truly mystical.

Now it's Christmas again and the small village is in the midst of a transformation to look like the movie set. And Holly is not happy. Also, why does she keep thinking she's seeing Elliot around town?

Elliot has a lot of explaining to do, in my opinion, but I enjoyed the topics in this book - forgiveness, second chances. It's a book I see myself re-reading.

This was my first time reading a book set around Christmas at...well, Christmas time! That sounds silly, but it's something I'm trying to do - fit with the seasons to feel all festive and all that. And after this read, I'm definitely going to keep doing it.
This was a very cute festive romance, with a nice little mystery from the past mixed in. Very much Hallmark movie, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's a reason those are so popular!
The fact I devoured this book in a single day says a lot about it too I think!
I read Laurie Gilmore's The Christmas Tree Farm immediately after this one and enjoyed them both equally as much - if you liked that one, you're going to enjoy this too! Although here you've got cute village in the UK rather than small town US which gives similar vibes in a different setting.
As with all Amber's books, the characters are on point. I can always imagine myself really interacting with her characters, they're as real as your own friends and family.
Definitely recommend this one, and you don't have to wait until Christmas next year - it's perfect all year round!

I loved this book so much. The writing style is great. The story and especially the characters were outstanding. It was so easy to get lost in the story. Would give 10 stars if I could. Can’t wait to read more books from this amazing author :)

Another excellant novel by Amber Eve! And on of her forst christmas ones too. There was something different and new I liked about this one, I like how Amber phrased the pages and chapters. This was to help with the pacing and the back and forth too, from going from the past to the present. This was also refrencing key moments of the story.

It was another romantic novel in a towm called Bramblebury, about a famous mysterious book writer who had a relationship with a bookshop girl. Quite ironic haha! But I won't spoil to much! I recommened that you give this read, and find out for yourself.

I loved this book with its twists and turns traversing the past and present. The mystery of the old snow globe takes you on a journey back and forth in time uncovering the ghosts of Christmas Past who mingle with the present time. All in all a really enjoyable and well written book. Looking forward to the next book from Amber Eve!
