Purchase options and add-ons
Charlie may be the Questor of the Cat Spirit, but he’s still finding his footing, and struggling to master the legendary powers of one of the Twin Rings. He must learn to control the fierce magics pulsing through his veins before it is too late. Yet even as Charlie grows into his role, one of his fellow Questors withdraws, consumed by pain and loss.
With little time to steady themselves, the Questors are called to a new and perilous mission. Their destination: Mydarec, a realm dominated by ruthless, Mafia-style families and inhabited by everyday vampires. Here, magic isn’t hidden, it's woven into every corner of society.
All seven Questors must band together to unravel the secrets of this strange world, discover their true purpose for being there, and prevent the Balance of Existence from tipping into chaos. But danger lurks in every alley, and the clock is ticking.
Will Charlie harness his sometimes-erratic power before Mydarec’s underworld swallows them whole? Or will the Questors’ fractured unity spell disaster for them… and for all the realms they’ve sworn to protect?

- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2015So I actually got this book right after it was published and it's one of my favorites that I have reread many times. I'm quite fond of all the books currently in this series which for me is saying a lot. I tend to be really, really picky when it comes to fantasy books. I don't like fantasy books that are really violent or have characters dying left and right and facing hopeless situations. Most times even if I like the first book in a series I dislike the rest because they start tossing in the things I mentioned above. Happily this book doesn't have any of those things and still remains very interesting. Just a great book and it's an excellent price!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2012Book #2 in Natasha's The Chronicles of Charlie Waterman series was a great addition to the series.
I was quite excited to read this one as I LOVED Cat's Call (Book #1) and where it left Charlie and the gang.
The first thing that bugged me was some of the events in book one were mentioned in passing at the beginning of book two, but it has been almost 12 months since reading book one and I struggled with remembering all the information about the events recalled. Either a little more information (rehashing of the old scenes) or a bit of a preamble summarising book 1 at the beginning would have cleared this up a lot.
I enjoyed the emotional and mental dialogue that Charlie experienced/expressed in this book a bit more than the last one too, I feel he's really starting to come into his own.
The reason this book only got 4 stars instead of 5 (like book 1) is primarily because there seemed to be a lot happening in this book that didn't fully fit into the story. The whole sub-story about the mentor threw me for six. I wasn't expecting that and I don't think it quite fit. That being said - I don't know what Natasha is planning for the rest of the story, but it seemed a bit odd to me.
Still a great book and worth reading!
A couple of things I noticed:
1% - '...who shook out her main (mane)...'
27% - '...between catwalk chic a nd (and) top...'
55% - '...the knife quick a (as) lightning.'
63% - '...ventilation duck (duct).'
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2012Must say, I absolutely loved this story. Great plot, fantastic characters, and an awesome setting all combined to create a must-read! Only complaint would be the length. It was much shorter than the first book but it was still well worth the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2012Another great installment in the Charlie Waterman series! I loved the increased insight into more members of the group, and the evolving dynamics as The Questers go off on their first whole group mission. There's character development, mystery, intrigue, even a touch of romance. Everything I could want in a quick and easy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitty high-five!
Having loved the first book I was excited to read the sequel. I always have that moment when starting to read a sequel as to whether I should reread the previous book but decided to dive right in and it was all good before I knew it I was happily lost in the plot. Like the first it is very fast paced.
The main character Charlie is really likeable and by now I care about him and his future. He has been thrown into this strange world of the Between and his special life of being a Questor of the cat spirit along with 6 others (various animals). The side characters are really starting to grow now which I love. Together the Questors must keep the 'balance' and I will have enjoy finding out how.
The plot of this book captured me off to their world and I read in a very very small amount of time compared to what I normally read like. Which is probably the best compliment I can ever give books :-P

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat's creation
After finishing first book Cat's Call, I immediately purchased this one, and after finishing this one, I bought the third book. In short- I'm hooked.
I adore Charlie and Alexander, and I really like Junko and Yesenia. And I'm eager to learn more about the rest Questers.
I wish more people knew about these series, and I know I'm repeating myself, but this book was such a fun read and it's so much easier to write about books you didn't enjoy than about these you did. :/

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as always
A well written tale that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Well rounded characters in a well thought out story, brilliant for teens or adults who like speculative fiction.
