Thirteen Kindle Edition
Spoiled Iranian girl Neda awakes to find her parents dead—a tragic murder at the hands of her now-executed fiancé. But Neda saw the perpetrators, and he wasn’t one of them.
The justice system dismisses her. Evidence mysteriously vanishes. And when others begin to die, she knows her own life could end just as brutally at any moment. All it will take is her enemies catching up—or her suicidal tendencies taking control. When her losses become all-consuming, there is one way forward: turn the tables and finally get revenge.
When the only option is to kill or be killed, one thing is clear: this war will end in blood.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2024I didn't know what to expect from this book when I first began reading it. By cleverly rearranging the first scene where our heroine Neda begins her voyage to the airport, the reader is guaranteed a thrilling revenge story taking place in both Dubai and Tehran.
This is a story about how a traumatizing and life changing experience changes people and forces them to make decisions that might be misunderstood by their loved ones. If the book had been linear, most readers would have DNFed it because Neda's initially picture-perfect life as the pampered daughter of an upper middle class businessman might feel the book should be placed in the women's fiction or romance section.
Instead, with a clever usage of scene rearrangement, we see a determined (and reckless) Neda traveling to Dubai on her own in the first step of her revenge, intermixed with scenes where she is constantly lying to her friend Omid that her mental state is improving, and later on completed with the series of unfortunate events that caused her trauma in the first place.
Despite being a pampered socialite, Neda is a well written character with intricate relationships, and the reader will feel her agony as even the most helpful policemen are incapable of arresting the culprits of her misfortune.
Despite the bleakness of the plot, I was cheering for Neda the whole way. She truly exemplifies the essense of the human spirit that digs themselves out of the deepest depression and will risk her life to make the world a better place. I feel impressed by the quality of this book's writing and enjoyed reading it immensely.
