- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2024Format: KindleThis was such a wonderful little book! I’m actually obsessed with this town and all the lore behind it because I feel like deep down the lore goes DEEP for this town. I loved every single story, they were spooky yet funny and always had a good conclusion that compelled you to keep the pages turning even though the stories were completely different. In Neverbury we have a homicidal mailman, a charity shop owner just trying to find someone to volunteer (by giving them a possessed artifact?), and of course an incredible village council! This book was so fun and I highly recommend it!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2024Format: Kindlereally enjoyed this one. The author reached out to me through Instagram and asked me to read and review this book. It looked interesting, and I loved it. It’s such a fun read!
I don’t know if you remember the Mitford Years books, but this book reminded me of those. Each story is about a different person from the town of Neverbury. The stories are very cozy, the townspeople are adorable and fun, but underneath all that, there’s a lot of sinister happenings around town. Each person featured seems like a run of the mill townsperson until you get a little closer.
Each story was fun, spooky, cozy, and delightful. I’d love to read more about Neverbury in the future. It was like if the citizens of Nightvale found themselves living in Mitford. Such a riot.
If you like horror, quirky, weird, and fun fiction, I really think you’d like this collection of stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2023Format: KindleI was a bit skeptical going into this book, as it's from an author I've never heard of, and I also hadn't heard anything about the book before I was asked to review it. I'm really glad I accepted though. This book was fun, and after a couple of stories that set the tone for me, I flew through the rest.
I think my favorite story is "Limited Edition", who can resist creepy toy stores and collectors? I don't want to say more than that so I don't spoil the contents, but it did really remind me of a couple of my favorite movies; one in vibe, the other in substance.
"Dead Letter Office" was also quite fun, and had a light-hearted feel, despite the subject matter. Patrick is a lovely character, despite his deeds and beliefs. I can't explain it, other than sometimes you root for the villain.
Overall the book was great. The stories created a cohesive universe with all sorts of strange, dark, and mysterious characters and creatures. I would definitely like to see more of Neverbury down the road. While I'm not usually big on anthologies, this setting is perfect for the format, and I really enjoyed reading the vignettes. They fit so well together.
So I'll say that I would love to see more of Neverbury, either with more shorts, like this, or maybe even taking some of these storylines and combining them into a novel about the town and its inhabitants.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2024Format: KindleThese are the kind of short stories I like. Ones that are all perfectly connected. Honestly, I would probably enjoy living in the town of Neverbury. It has everything a girl could ever want: serial killers, witches, ghosts, even a haunted house.
Each story was so atmospheric, I really enjoyed reading this.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2023Format: KindleIn the vein of stories like Welcome to Nightvale or Nowhere, On Air this is a collection of stories with a slight British slant in a weird town where the impossible is possible and even pretty likely and strange happenings are usual occurrences. From the first story to the last they were enjoyable with a great mix of horror and humor.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2023Format: KindleThis was a book of short stories & normally, with books of short stories, I find myself finding at least one or two I don’t like, but this one? Not a chance. I loved them all. I did have a few favorites, (Dead Letter Office; Sell Now, Pay Later; A Design For Living).
This book was well written, and I did find some humor in these stories (I’m not sure if I was supposed to, or if I’m just totally screwed up in the head 🫣). Chris Lynch did a phenomenal job with the horror aspect of his short stories, and also painting a quaint little town of Neverbury, but with a weird vibe to it, too. The best way I can describe Neverbury is think Pleasantville with horror! 😂
If you love books of short stories taking places in towns with an old fashioned, weird, horror, 1950’s vibe to it, I highly recommend this book! It had me laughing during some stories while also cringing and eyes wide open with others! 🙌🏻👏🏻

- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2024Format: KindleI totally wasn’t sure what to expect going into this one but I was truly pleasantly surprised.
Neverbury is an intriguing, bizarre place full of dark and full realized characters.
I enjoyed my time there and don’t think after reading this that I’d want to visit. Haha.
This is a must read for fans of cosmic horror and weird fiction alike.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2023Format: KindleWhen it comes to short story books, I find there are always stories that are much more enjoyable than others. That was not the case in 'Welcome to Neverbury'. All the stories were quick, enjoyable, dark, and filled with the otherworldly. I loved that closer to the end that stories started to share bits and pieces of the previous ones. Neverbury is very Night Vale-esque, but maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.
