About the author

You will normally find JJ in the living room—typing away—with her dog, Siddiqi. As a hopeless romantic, she dives into her stories, always falling in love with her men, making sure they get the happy ever after they deserve, even if they do have to work hard for it.
As a bona fide bookaholic, a wine-drinking and swear-like-a-sailor type of girl, she has yet to work out how to act her age!! LOL. And she has no intentions of growing up or growing old gracefully.
JJ lives in a small, very quiet, village in Lincolnshire, UK, with her husband and dog, and spends all day dreaming up stories full of really hot men.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2020This book was so very incredible. To start, in order to truly follow this book and his characters, it is important to read the 'HeavyLoad!' series first. You don't have to, but I would highly recommend it! :-)
****************************
Robbie and Daniel are so very beautifully complicated and frustrating throughout the story. However, their story made my emotions shatter and then get put back together. It made me cry and..as a reader, I wouldn't have had it any other way. You feel everything they are feeling throughout the story. It does have some angst, just be aware in case your heart cannot handle it. I hope you fall in love with them as much as I did. Robbie is a Submissive who is fierce, strong and in need of love, safety and protection. Daniel is a strong, patient and kind Dom/Daddy who was made to provide him with that and in return, Daniel got everything he ever wanted and needed in a partner. There is so much more that I want to say, but I know myself and I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I cannot wait to see who is next!
JJ, you rock!
Cheers and happy reading! xx
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2020Excellent story of a totally lost boy finding a life again and discovering he can trust and love again! Daniel and Robbie are both interesting and intriguing.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2020This is the story of Daniel and Robbie. These two share a horrific event in the past. Robbie has spent his life in survival mode since their last meeting. Unable to grow or move away from the fear that rules him. Daniel is shocked to see him. Daniel is a successful businessman. He's worked hard to create a place where people can be themselves, away from the public eye of judgement. He is a celebrated Dom, a Master. Strong in his convictions. He always gets what he wants. Robbie is just what he needs. This is a wonderful book about trust and finding who you are deep inside. Both men have their work cut out for them to find their forever happiness. This is a wonderful book. It has a great EPILOGUE!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2024You know this book was going so good! They were communicating and both trying to be patient with each other and the trauma was on point. Then the third act break up! Ugh I’ll preface this by saying I super hate third act break ups but sometimes authors can still make it work enough to make me feel okay but this is not one of those times!
**I’m gonna spoil a little here so stop reading if you don’t wanna know. **
They split because the dom is domming too hard and doesn’t stop for a minute to understand why the sub was freaking. But you know I probably could have gotten over that if they had eventually talked it over or even acknowledged what the issue was. Nope instead we got an abbreviated version of 2 months where they self harm and pine for each other before the sub just shows up one day and does exactly what he was freaking out about then boom epilogue. At no point do they even try to have a discussion about what the issue was on either side or anything. Like whyyyyyy! This is super not healthy! It also just feels extremely unresolved and just shoved under the rug.
This book was a solid 4 edging on 5 stars for me until that third act breakup and ending. If I didn’t like the first 3/4ths of this book so much I can honestly say I probably would have given it a 1 star. Ugh I hope more books of JJ Harper aren’t like this.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2020This was a hot as hell start to this follow up series. Robbie went through hell but came out stronger than he ever thought possible. Meeting Daniel all those years later was the icing on the cake. Cameos from all the gang from the Heavy Load series happen throughout this book which made me so happy. It looks like we will be meeting some new boys in the next couple of books which is awesome cuz I wasn't ready to leave the Heavy Load boys anyway. This could have easily been made into book 4 of the HL series. I'm not sure why it wasn't. Highly recommend both series regardless.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2020This is a truly great love story. Robbie, I my opinion, is awesome. He has survived unbelievable hardship and still even when he was beat down kept his voice. Daniel heard his plea and sent him to someone to help him heal. 7 years later they're drown back together and boy is it a rollercoaster ride filled with plenty of ups and downs. Not Your Boy is a beautiful love story and a fantastic read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2020This book has a weird seven year gap right off the bat. It's a little jarring to have both main characters show their own point of view moments as each chapter starts, you can get used to it.
There's hot sex, visits from characters from previous books. I'm not sure if this story makes the universe better or just fuller. You want the boy to be happy, the Daddy wants to be amazing. Neither one actually pulls it off.
It was okay and I don't regret reading it, but it didn't grip me like others have. I hope you enjoy it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2022Good story. A boy who wants a Dom, gets it wrong but is saved. Seven years, he still wants a Dom but now is petrified of the scene. Lots of anger and tears but he finds what he needs and I really can't say much more, you'll need to read it. I liked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your boy.....but all mine 😍
Not your boy is a spin off stand alone of the Heavyload! Series by J J Harper.
These boy have been a total revelation and have immersed me into the realms of daddy kink and they are definitely perfect to start your journey with.
I had been eagerly anticipating Daniel & Robbie’s story because I felt it was going to be slightly different, intense and emotional oh and it delivered...in abundance.
Robbie was still damaged from a previous abusive relationship and because of this tended to suppress his desires for fear of any repeat of before, Daniel sees him and feels a connection and refuses to give up on him, this kick starts Robbie’s journey of rediscovery and healing.
I loved the characters that JJ has developed here, both very different people with different wants and desires...one needed lots of love and support to bring out his best and one just wanted to be needed, to be depended upon.
J J writes with great understanding of not only her guys but of their needs and wants, she allows slow development making the story all the more believable and organic. The story flow feels smooth and seamless and the plot always engaging- so much so that before you know it you’re hurtling towards the end knowing that you aren’t quite ready for it to finish just yet.
I think if you’re like me and this isn’t your usual trope this would be perfect book to dip your toe into because whilst raw, real and emotional it’s also loving, healing and uplifting- and who the heck doesn’t need a bit of that right now?
So thank you J J for another great pleasure in life and just know that you’ve cemented your place right up there with the great MM authors of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soooo Good❣️❣️❣️❣️
I loved this book. Finished it I. Less than 24 hours! This is a story of a lonely man and a traumatized younger man. Robbie is very closed off and lives a solitary life and relives his abuse every day. Daniel is a Dom who helps Robbie try to overcome his fears. It is a wonderful story!

2.0 out of 5 stars Unhealthy management of trauma, triggers and kink
This book started out well. We meet Robbie who has been through a horrible trauma at the hands of his Master - someone who was meant to treasure him and have his best interests at heart. Set 7 years later, Robbie crosses paths with Daniel, the Master who helped rescue him and find him a safe place. Despite their mutual attraction, Robbie is still traumatised by his past, despite having seen doctors and also studied psychology himself in an effort to try and understand what he went through and to manage his triggers. Daniel assures him that they'll take things at Robbie's pace, and that he is comfortable if things never progress beyond them just being boyfriend's (and not having the D/s aspect to their relsrionship).
To start with Daniel holds up his end of their agreement. He is nurturing, respectful, patient and listens to Robbie's words and body language. But as Robbie slowly starts to want to explore the D/s dynamic again, Daniel suddenly changes. He starts pushing Robbie more, not listening when Robbie is trying to verbalize that he's not comfortable and feeling triggered, and when Robbie retreats to his safe place after Daniel walks out on him (after Robbie tried to explain he wasn't comfortable with a certain situation), Daniel dumps him in an instant, sending a courier with all of his possessions and not even bothering to call Robbie. I lost all respect for Daniel at this point. As a trained Master who knew first hand what Robbie went through, he should have been better than this. I know we're all human and therefore make mistakes and feel hurt, but to treat someone like that and not show them any respect?! Daniel became another sort of Master that Robbie should have been running from - instead of physical abuse, he emotionally abused and manipulated Robbie. You can't have any form of power exchange, let alone head towards TPE, without trust, and having been through such a trauma, Robbie wasn't going to just "get over it" because Daniel loved him - I couldn't believe it when Daniel told him that Robbie couldn't possible love him and still have his triggers because love should equal total trust.
I still read to the end (so that's an auto 2 star review for me, 1 star being DNF), but after that horrible situation I couldn't get back into it. Robbie eventually makes his way back to Daniel and they get back together, but without a discussion at all aside from the both apologising for not talking things through. That's great and all, but it read like Robbie was going to hide his feelings from Daniel moving forward and force his triggers down rather than dealing with them in a healthy way.
I'm going to leave this review at that and not bother to go into detail on the sometimes corny/sappy discussions between these adult males, or the abrupt time jumps between chapters, or even the conversations that implied other events had occurred but were given no context except that the last chapter we just read was weeks ago. It wasn't a smooth read, even if you ignore the kink side of things.
This is my first book by this author, and despite this being a genre that I enjoy reading, I won't be reading any more of her works. I'll stick with authors who write healthy, positive, sane and consensual kink.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another gorgeous couple in a truly engaging series
Robbie and Daniel captured my attention right form the start. Both characters are quite different to those of the previous books, with each denying themselves due to their respective histories. It makes for engaging reading as their traumas and experiences are revealed. And of course, when they try to act on their attraction for one another, there are inevitable consequences due to their pasts. Robbie is especially volatile as his ordeals as a younger man skew his ability to trust. As Daniel gently coaxes Robbie from his life of abstinence, a beautiful love story ensues. This was an intense, but highly enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good.
I do not like Daddy/Little, I do not like BDSM, I can slightly tolerate Dom/Sub, so did I like this book? Yes!! When I read the blurb there was something about it that drew me, the awful beginning with Robbies traumatizing nightmare had me, I was reading this. I loved gentle Daniel and how he so patiently helped Robbie. I have not read the other books this seems to be a spin off from, I’m not sure if I will, but I wouldn’t mind reading more of Daniel and Robbie’s future.
